Freshly Made Sketches #147 – Hello

fm-147-hello

  • Patterned paper – Heidi Swapp “Favorite Things” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Emobssing folder – Cuttlebug – Anna Griffin “Pirouette”
  • Die – Lil’ Inker Designs “Hello Word”
  • Felt Flower – Hero Arts “Buttons Galore”
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Paper String – Tim Holtz Idea-ology

For this card, I used Freshly Made Sketches #147 as a guide. I thought the sequins helped tie the pattern in the floral paper to the background by repeating the round motif and colors a little bit. I dug deeply in my stash for the felt button. I think I’ve had those for years and still have a few more. Such treasure! Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH VCMP Texture Challenge

owh-vcmp-textured_hello

  • Embossing folders – Sizzix “Rosemary,” “Bohemian Lace” and “Flourishes #3”
  • Die cuts – Poppy Stamps “Lovely Tendril” and Technique Tuesday “Say It – Hello”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

I made this for the Virtual Cardmaking Party at OWH for Fourth of July weekend 2014. This challenge was to create a card using at least three textures. I used the textured panels for the background and used die cuts for the sentiment and imagery. Thanks for visiting.

OWH Sketch #226 – Skunkified

owh-sketch-226-skunk

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Into the Woods”
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Porcelain” 6″ paper pad
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Woodgrain”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Black Prismacolor pencil

I created this image for a demo I did for a small group I belong to. We have our own “book club” using Craft Stamper Magazine, and meet monthly to share projects we’ve made from the current month’s issue. This stamp is meant to be a chipmunk, but this project “skunkified” the chipmunk and gave it a whole new look! I used colored pencil to fill in the black spaces and add a stripe down his head. The sketch is the current one at Operation Write Home (OWH) Stars and Stamps, Sketch #226. I created a wood-look background with the embossing folder to make the skunk feel more at home. Thanks for visiting.

Sympathy with Rose

Steve-sympathy

  • Rose die cut – K & Company Susan Winget Botanical Layered Accents
  • Stamp – My Sentiments Exactly
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and American Crafts
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Decorative Tile Set”
  • Border punch – EK Success “English Ivy”

I needed to make a sympathy card and thought using one of the floral die cuts I’d been saving would be a nice option. I tried to keep it simple with several layers with mostly solid color cardstock. Thanks for visiting today.

Happy Birthday – More Stenciling

occ-stencils-day2-birthday

  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Echoes”
  • Stamps – Penny Black “Flourish Birthday” and Impression Obsession “C-A-C Gradation”
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft – Chino and White pearls
  • Distress Inks – Ranger – Brushed Corduroy and Tattered Rose
  • Embossing Powder – Stampendous – Detail White

Another stenciled card, using a white embossed greeting as a sort of resist. I’ve applied Distress Inks with a foam applicator through the stencil and then stamped over it with a subtle background image. This is a very simple, one layer card with a few pearls to dress it up. I was inspired by Day Two of the Stenciled class over at Online Card Classes. I have more stenciling experiments in the works! Thanks for stopping by.

Squirrely! Squirrely! Shake your bushy tail!

squirrely-onegreatkid

  • Digital image – Bugaboo Digi Stamps “Squirrel”
  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Tag Sayings”
  • Die – Memory Box “Nutty Acorn”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Woodgrain”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

Squirrely! Squirrely! Shake your bushy tail! So this is a camp song that my son taught me. He’s pretty crazy for squirrels. This past summer, his first as a counselor, he chose his camp name to be “Chipmunk.” I colored this image with Copic markers and created a nice woodgrain textured background. The Memory Box acorn just seemed like a natural accessory for Squirrely. I created this card for my latest Operation Write Home (OWH) boxes, and I’m a little late (read: a LOT late!), but this is a card fitting for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge from the week before last: Love Cards for Kids. Thanks for visiting.

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Green & White

owh-mwt-green&white

Dies – Just Rite Custom Dies (by Spellbinders) “Vintage Labels Two,” Penny Black “Love and Joy” and Spellbinders Edgeabilities “Classic Decorative Inserts Three”

Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny Dots

Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Holly Ribbons”

Rhinestones – KaiserCraft

This card involves embossing and die cutting, with no stamping. This week’s Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog was to create cards with green and white (or red and white) color schemes. I selected green and white for my card and sort of made up the design as I went along.  “Love” cards are pretty popular in the OWH boxes, so I’m trying to send a number of them this time around. Thanks for stopping by.

Ornament Christmas Card

Joy-ChristmasOrnament

  • Dies – Impression Obsession “Vintage Ornament,” Elizabeth Craft Designs “Sprig with Berries,” and Penny Black “Love and Joy”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Christmas”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny
  • WorldWin translucent vellum “Frost Iridescent”
  • Silver mirror cardstock

This card is made up of die cuts and embossing–no stamping! Not only that, I combined dies from three different companies, which made it kind of fun! It is also fitting for the CAS-ual Fridays Clean and Simple Challenge #122 “Out on a Limb.” Thanks for stopping by today.

Evergreen Christmas Card

Evergreen-Joy

  • Dies – die cuts made with Elizabeth Craft Designs “Pinecone” and “Sprig with Berries” and Penny Black “Love and Joy”
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Silver and Gold” collection
  • Metallic cord
  • Gold Circle Diamond Dots Stickers – Stampendous
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this Christmas card using several different die cuts, which made it kind of fun, as I mixed different colors of cardstock for some richness and a little more complexity to the imagery. This is a perfect response to the Shopping our Stash challenge #129: Holiday or Winter.  Thanks for visiting today.

Operation Write Home Sketch #199 – Sent with Love

owh-sketch199-love

  • Stamps – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings” clear set
  • Dies – Simon Says Stamp “Tri Square”
  • Patterned papers – American Crafts Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Polka Dots”
  • Stampendous “Detail White” embossing powder
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

For this card, I used Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Sketch #199 as inspiration. I decided to emboss the entire background to add a little visual interest to all of that negative space. For the top square, I used patterned paper and embossed a heart I stamped with the Simon Says Stamp set, using white powder. For the second, I stamped the background with a heart pattern in the set and then over-stamped the sentiment with black ink. For the final square, I used the patterned paper for both the little envelope and the background, popping up the envelope with a bit more dimensional adhesive. Thanks for visiting.
