Fall leaves featuring die cuts

  • Die cuts:
    • Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations – Skeleton Leaves
    • Avery Elle – Pierced Mat Die
  • Stamp – Stampendous “Seasonal Swirls”
  • Inks – Ranger Tim Holtz Distress: Aged Mahogany, Carved Pumpkin, Forest Moss, Wild Honey and Walnut Stain
  • Embossing powder – Lindy’s Stamp Gang – Pumpkin Fiesta
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

It was fun to use this new leaf die set and then combine the leaves with items I’ve had in my stash for quite a while. I started off by applying five colors of Distress ink to mixed media cardstock with a foam applicator tool, blending the colors as I went. Once I was happy with the colors, I die cut the leaves from this fall-colored paper. I then die cut the dot-embossed kraft cardstock with the Avery Elle die and adhered it to the card base. I arranged the leaves on top, adhering them when I was happy with the composition. From there, I added the sentiment with dimensional adhesive and called it done! Thanks for visiting.

Fancy Fold Anniversary Card

  • Stamps –
    • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Entomology”
    • Simon Says Stamp “Happy & Smile”
  • Dies – Sizzix “Royal Flip-its”
  • Patterned papers – Graphic45 “Nature Sketchbook” 8 X 8″ paper pad
  • Embossing powder – Lindy’s Stamp Gang “Twilight Jade Slate”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I believe this card is technically called a flip card, although I’ve also seen it referred to as a flop card! I wouldn’t call it a flop–I’ve made much worse cards! Anyhoo, it is constructed so that when you open it up the butterfly on the front flips and the sentiment is behind it. You can get the idea in the photo below.

I heat-embossed the moth on the front with a subtly iridescent powder, which isn’t overly evident in the top photo. This Graphic45 paper collection is so pretty, it was hard to choose which patterns to use! I’ve been coveting it for a long time! But I really was drawn to the greens of these two papers. Thanks for visiting.

Creature Feature

  • Stamps – My Favorite Things – “Witch Way Candy?”
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix – “Cobwebs”
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

This card design was very simple because all of the cute creatures with a backdrop of an embossed spiderweb stole the show.

I colored and hand-cut all of the stamped images, because I had not purchased the matching dies. I’ve remedied this poor decision by recently acquiring the dies with a gift card that I won from My Favorite Things!

The coloring took the most time, blending Copics. Once I colored and cut all of the pieces, the next challenge was arranging them to my liking. I popped up the bat with dimensional adhesive so he is fairly flying.

Thanks for visiting and, even though it is nearly over, Happy Halloween!

Birthday in Stumptown

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn, “Joy to the Woods,” “Cheery Christmas,” and “Elphie Selfie”
  • Dies –
    • Lawn Fawn, “Joy to the Woods,” “Happy Birthday Border,” “Cheery Christmas,” and “Elphie Selfie”
    • Sizzix – Tim Holtz – Tree Rings die with Textured Impressions embossing folder
  • Patterned paper – Lawn Fawn 6 X 6″ Paper Pack “Knock on Wood”
  • Distress Inks – Espresso Powder, Walnut Stain, Tea Dye
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card for my son’s 19th birthday. He likes woodland critters and I gathered rodents and other creatures from a number of stamp sets to get the right combination. It was fun to use the tree stump as the platform for them to dance upon. I cut the “Tree Rings” die from white cardstock, embossed it, and then applied several different Distress inks to get the right coloring. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Birthday, Trenton!

Freshly Made Sketches #228 – Thank You

fms-228-thanks

  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop – TCW631s – “Mini Doodle Bloom”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts – CL738 “Messages with Flourish”
  • Patterned paper – Sizzix – “Fox Tales” Paper Pad
  • Ink – Ranger Distress Inks – Abandoned Coral, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade
  • Cardstock – Neenah Solar White

I used the Crafter’s Workshop stencil and applied Distress Ink through a portion of it to create the image for this card. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #228. I mounted the white panel onto a piece of subtly patterned paper from Sizzix. It picked up my ink colors perfectly. I think I succeeded at clean and simple on this card! Hope to see you soon.
