Unscripted Sketches #255 – Iris Birthday

unscripted-255-rene

  • Stamp – from Penny Black “Allegro” set
  • Bling – Crystal Stickers by Mark Richards, Ltd. – Citron
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix “Tropical Paisley”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Twinkling H2Os

This is sort of a mixed media card. I used the Unscripted Sketch #255 for inspiration. I created the background from a monoprint I made using my Gelli plate. I applied some blue acrylic paint, mixed with pearl in a fairly thin layer. Then I pressed the embossing folder into the paint. I used both sides of the folder, which gives an one type of impression on the raised side and a reverse impression on the other–the difference when you emboss or impress/deboss (you can sort of see the darker color versus the lighter color). I pulled the print and used it for the background paper. iris-closeup

Then I applied Twinkling H2Os to the iris stamp and spritzed with water to get the color down, then once it was dry, I over-stamped with the same image with black archival ink. You can see a detailed look at it to your left and hopefully you can see the sheen of these Twinkling H2O watercolors. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday – More Stenciling

occ-stencils-day2-birthday

  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Echoes”
  • Stamps – Penny Black “Flourish Birthday” and Impression Obsession “C-A-C Gradation”
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft – Chino and White pearls
  • Distress Inks – Ranger – Brushed Corduroy and Tattered Rose
  • Embossing Powder – Stampendous – Detail White

Another stenciled card, using a white embossed greeting as a sort of resist. I’ve applied Distress Inks with a foam applicator through the stencil and then stamped over it with a subtle background image. This is a very simple, one layer card with a few pearls to dress it up. I was inspired by Day Two of the Stenciled class over at Online Card Classes. I have more stenciling experiments in the works! Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #117 – Celebrate!

fm-117-celebrate

  • Stamps – Penny Black “Sweet Wishes”
  • Patterned papers – BoBunny “Key Lime Collection”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Here is my first card for 2014! I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches: Sketch #117 and kept it very clean and simple. I will have it be the first card in my Operation Write Home box, since I shipped off all of my cards at the end of 2013. Thanks for visiting today!

Hedgehog Love

  • Stamps – from Penny Black “Loads of Love” set and Simon Says Stamp “Tag Sayings”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Yours Truly” and American Crafts “Smitten”
  • Die – Spellbinders/Just Rite “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Here is another late-to-my-blog card–it is already on the way to OWH! And it is another kids’ love card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown from two weeks ago. I really enjoy making kids cards and I know it must be fun for our heroes to send cards home to their kids and young friends and relatives. I colored this hedgehog stamped image with Copic markers and layered it up with some nice contrasting colors. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Green & White

owh-mwt-green&white

Dies – Just Rite Custom Dies (by Spellbinders) “Vintage Labels Two,” Penny Black “Love and Joy” and Spellbinders Edgeabilities “Classic Decorative Inserts Three”

Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny Dots

Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Holly Ribbons”

Rhinestones – KaiserCraft

This card involves embossing and die cutting, with no stamping. This week’s Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog was to create cards with green and white (or red and white) color schemes. I selected green and white for my card and sort of made up the design as I went along.  “Love” cards are pretty popular in the OWH boxes, so I’m trying to send a number of them this time around. Thanks for stopping by.

Foxy Love

owh-sketch-204-foxy

  • Stamp – from Lawn Fawn “Into the Woods” set
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Stella Rose: Hattie ‘Happy’ Polka Dots” (both sides)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Dies – Spellbinders “Standard Circles Large” and Penny Black “Love and Joy” set
  • Mini oak leaf punch

Here is another “love” card for Operation Write Home. I used OWH sketch #204 for this card and colored the cute little fox from Lawn Fawn with Copic markers. I popped up all of the circles with some dimensional adhesive and distressed the edges of my papers with Pumice Stone distress ink from Ranger. Thanks for visiting today.

Ornament Christmas Card

Joy-ChristmasOrnament

  • Dies – Impression Obsession “Vintage Ornament,” Elizabeth Craft Designs “Sprig with Berries,” and Penny Black “Love and Joy”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Christmas”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny
  • WorldWin translucent vellum “Frost Iridescent”
  • Silver mirror cardstock

This card is made up of die cuts and embossing–no stamping! Not only that, I combined dies from three different companies, which made it kind of fun! It is also fitting for the CAS-ual Fridays Clean and Simple Challenge #122 “Out on a Limb.” Thanks for stopping by today.

Evergreen Christmas Card

Evergreen-Joy

  • Dies – die cuts made with Elizabeth Craft Designs “Pinecone” and “Sprig with Berries” and Penny Black “Love and Joy”
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Silver and Gold” collection
  • Metallic cord
  • Gold Circle Diamond Dots Stickers – Stampendous
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this Christmas card using several different die cuts, which made it kind of fun, as I mixed different colors of cardstock for some richness and a little more complexity to the imagery. This is a perfect response to the Shopping our Stash challenge #129: Holiday or Winter.  Thanks for visiting today.

Hedgehog with hearts

HedgehogValentine

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Loads of Love”
  • Patterned papers – American Crafts “Hugs & Kisses” and “All My Heart”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ric Rac

I created this card using the Mojo Monday Sketch #320, even though I didn’t get my card linked up over there quickly enough! It is another Valentine for Operation Write Home with a friendly hedgehog. I colored the hedgehog with Copic markers and tried to bring out a little bit of the blue green in the papers in highlights of his spikes, blending it in with the greys. Then again, it may have just been a bad day at the hedgehog salon. May yours be better! Thanks for visiting.

Halloween Cat – 365 Cards Day 298

365-Day298-HalloweenCat

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Dressed to Scare”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Happy Haunting” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Black Ric Rac
  • Copic markers

Here we have a nice kitty, all dressed up for Halloween. It fits well with the challenge for Day 298 over at 365 Cards. After stamping the image, I colored it with Copic markers. Layers are in orange and purple and grey, oh MY. Quite Halloweeny! Thanks for visiting.
