Unscripted Sketches #255 – Iris Birthday

unscripted-255-rene

  • Stamp – from Penny Black “Allegro” set
  • Bling – Crystal Stickers by Mark Richards, Ltd. – Citron
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix “Tropical Paisley”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Twinkling H2Os

This is sort of a mixed media card. I used the Unscripted Sketch #255 for inspiration. I created the background from a monoprint I made using my Gelli plate. I applied some blue acrylic paint, mixed with pearl in a fairly thin layer. Then I pressed the embossing folder into the paint. I used both sides of the folder, which gives an one type of impression on the raised side and a reverse impression on the other–the difference when you emboss or impress/deboss (you can sort of see the darker color versus the lighter color). I pulled the print and used it for the background paper. iris-closeup

Then I applied Twinkling H2Os to the iris stamp and spritzed with water to get the color down, then once it was dry, I over-stamped with the same image with black archival ink. You can see a detailed look at it to your left and hopefully you can see the sheen of these Twinkling H2O watercolors. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Stamp – The Cat’s Pajamas “Smells Like Cake”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “For the Record” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Corner punch – Fiskars 4-1 Embossing Corner Punch – “Spiral”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Today’s card is a clean and simple one. I used Sketch #238 from Unscripted Sketches. It features a lively group of penguins, courtesy of The Cat’s Pajamas, which I colored with Copics. Many of us are making penguin cards for Operation Write Home for a special card drive for a penguin-loving unit overseas! I’m all over it! Thanks for visiting today.

Unscripted Sketches #237 – Sent with Love

Unscripted-237-SentwLove

  • Stamps – from Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings” clear set
  • Dies – Simon Says Stamp/Memory Box “Tri Squares”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill
  • Corner punch – Fiskars “Romantique”

Here is a new card using the current sketch at Unscripted Sketches #237. I stamped the top three squares with matching ink. The three matching polka-dot squares look like shadows in my interpretation. I popped up the sentiment square with dimensional adhesive just for a little more emphasis. This will be a nice Operation Write Home card . Thanks for visiting.

I hadn’t set an eyelet in a really long time!  The snowman is colored with Copic markers. Thanks for stopping by today.

A Little Squirrely Today

  • Stamps
    • Squirrel Collage – Magenta “
    • Oak Leaves – Inkadinkado “Leaves”
    • Acorn – Impression Obsession Heart Art Studios “Acorn”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Trail Mix Collection” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Barn Door and Wild Honey

This is a birthday card for a friend who receives a squirrely card from us each year while we all go camping together. I based this card’s design on Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Sketch #69. I distressed the patterned paper with Ranger Distress Inks and spattered with water to create a background that matched the stamped leaves and acorns, which I distressed with the same ink colors. I popped up the acorn and one of the oak leaves with dimensional adhesive for a little 3-D effect. I created this card outside on a picnic table up in the mountains while camping. I had some chipmunk friends nearby, just to set the mood! Thanks for visiting today and Happy Birthday, Allyn!

PostScript: This card was selected as one of the Top Three cards created and posted using Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Sketch #69! Hurray!

Unscripted Sketch #204 – Fabulous Birthday

  • Stamp – from Penny Black “Sweet Wishes” set
  • Patterned paper – from Basic Grey “Lauderdale” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Baker’s twine – American Crafts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made a clean and simple card with the current sketch at Unscripted Sketches #204. These papers are pretty loud, so they kind of are front and center on this card! But I think it makes a cheery birthday card with festive colors. Thanks for visiting.

Unscripted Sketches #191 – Birthday

unscripted-191

  • Stamp – Inkadinkado “Happy Birthday”
  • Patterned papers – “Dottie” and “Ethel”  both from the Botanique collection
  • Flowers – Pearl White roses colored with ColorBox Peach Pastel and Rosebud inks
  • Cardstock – BoBunny

I made this card using Sketch #191 at Unscripted Sketches for inspiration, which was a really nice design to work with. This is really pretty paper that I’ve had in my stash for a long time and it seemed perfect for a birthday card for a friend. It was fun to ink my flowers to match the paper–I lucked out having the right colors! Thanks for visiting today!
