Catch A Dream – Birthday Card

Trenton-bday-2014

  • Stamps – from The Cat’s Pajamas “Wish” set (includes bunny, sentiment and stars)
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty-Two”
  • Patterned paper – Reminisce “Out of this world” and BoBunny “Buttercup Dot”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Sakura Gelly Roll pen – Stardust

Happy Birthday, Trenton! This is Trenton’s card for today, celebrating his 16 years of age. It features a great set from The Cat’s Pajamas. The bunny is colored with Copic markers, cut out and popped up with some dimensional adhesive. I carried the star theme through by finding some star patterned paper in my stash for a backdrop and then stamped the little twin stars in the “Wish” set and created a border at the bottom. I trimmed along the star border on the front of the card and colored in the stars with the Stardust Gelly Roll pen so they’d twinkle. I added a strip of red cardstock on the inside of the card to bring out the star border.

This is my candidate for The Cat’s Pajamas Tuesday Challenge #275: Anything Goes.  Thanks for stopping by.

Hydrangea Thank You Card

hydrangea-1

  • Stamps – Penny Black “Flower Festival” and “Sweet Wishes” and Printworks “Thank You”
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty”
  • Stampendous white and iridescent Embossing Powders
  • Watercolors – Twinkling H2Os
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Bling – Mark Richards Ltd.

This card started out with the image stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I then colored the hydrangea with Twinkling H2Os. The embossing powder provided a strong outline and acted as a resist for the watercolor. The outline on the sentiment flag is another Penny black stamp that I heat embossed with some iridescent embossing powder.

I was inspired by Debby Hughes, who is the muse for CASE Study #207 at the CASE Study Blog. I have taken a number of Online Card Classes during which Debby was a guest designer and I’m familiar with her style. Here is a closer look at some detail on my card. Thanks for visiting.

Bunnies to warm your heart

bunnies_friday_175

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Snow Day” set
  • Patterned paper – KaiserCraft “Bluebelle Collection: Capri” (both sides)
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities – Standard Circles Large
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a very simple card in which I used a number of images from the new Lawn Fawn “Snow Day” clear stamp set. I colored the bunnies with Copic Markers and edged the elements with Black Soot Distress Ink. I added a smattering of little stamped hearts from the same stamp set down the left side of the main panel to tie the heart theme up. This week’s Friday Mashup challenge (#175) is to create a card using animals, so here it is. Thanks for visiting.

Rose Mixed Media Tag

rose_mm_tag

  • Tag – Ranger #5 Manila
  • Stamp – Visible Images “Roses”
  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Mini Damask”
  • Die – Lawn Fawn “Stitched Leaves” set
  • Ferro – Viva Decor “Gold iron” (modeling paste)
  • Tim Holtz Distress Paints – Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Tarnished Brass
  • Faber Castell Gelatos – Red Cherry, Raspberry and Watermelon
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Walnut Stain and Spiced Marmalade
  • Ribbon – May Arts “Solid Wrinkled” in Olive and Brown
  • Corrugated cardboard

I sure used a lot of supplies for such a small tag! I really enjoy it when I can use a lot of different stuff from a lot of different companies to complete my final project. Makes me feel like I’ve made good use of my stash!

I started out with a plain, manila tag and brushed it with Distress Paints. I then applied Ferro through the stencil for the damask layer. Ferro is thick and has some metallic properties. Its consistency really stands up to a detailed stencil, which you might not expect. I then tore strips from the corrugated cardboard, which had come from the sleeve on my coffee cup! I distressed it with ink before adhering with gel medium. I then added the rose that I had colored on watercolor paper and smoothed out with a baby wipe. I cut the leaves from a scrap from a Gelli Plate print. I distressed the remainder of the elements with walnut stain ink and tied up the tag with the ribbon. I created this for the August Tag Challenge at Mixed Media Mojo.

Happy Birthday Wishes

fairy-tcp

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Hearts and Flowers” and “Commemorating You” sets
  • Corner punch – Fiskars “Romantique” 3-way punch
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Patterned papers – Doodlebug Designs and BoBunny
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Stickers – Stampendous “Class A’Peel – Geo Shapes Sparklers Blue”
  • Trim – from stash

Whew! It has been a long while since I’ve posted. This card features a fairy standing atop a sunflower. This is the time of year for sunflowers and I should probably head out to the garden to see if I can catch a fairy standing on any of our sunflowers. I created this card for the  TCP Tuesday Inspiration Challenge. The inspiration for this challenge consists of photos of sunflowers and one with sunflowers and globe thistles for a rich blue. I colored my stamped image from The Cat’s Pajamas with watercolor pencils and filled in with a water brush to soup up the color into watercolor. I added some salt to the background to give it a little more visual interest. This will be a nice card for an overseas hero to send home to a birthday girl, so it will be included in my Operation Write Home box. Thanks for visiting today.

TCP Tuesday – The Sky’s the Limit

catspj-bunnyballoon

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Away We Go” set
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Patterened paper – Echo Park Paper “Everyday Eclectic: Hexagons”
  • Enamel dots – Doodlebug Designs “Limeade”
  • Pearls – Hero Arts “Foliage”

This card is for The Cat’s Pajamas Tuesday Challenge #272. This week’s theme is to use Mint Green, Navy Blue and Lemon Yellow in a card. I colored the bunny image with Copic markers and fussy cut it so it could stand out on the navy die cut. I accented the elements with minty enamel dots and pearls. I used Sketch # 148 at Freshly Made Sketches for design inspiration for this card. I liked this sketch because it gave me a nice, large area for the main image. Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #147 – Hello

fm-147-hello

  • Patterned paper – Heidi Swapp “Favorite Things” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Emobssing folder – Cuttlebug – Anna Griffin “Pirouette”
  • Die – Lil’ Inker Designs “Hello Word”
  • Felt Flower – Hero Arts “Buttons Galore”
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Paper String – Tim Holtz Idea-ology

For this card, I used Freshly Made Sketches #147 as a guide. I thought the sequins helped tie the pattern in the floral paper to the background by repeating the round motif and colors a little bit. I dug deeply in my stash for the felt button. I think I’ve had those for years and still have a few more. Such treasure! Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH Sketch #235 – Love is in the air

owh-sketch-235

  • Stamps – Clearly Besotted “Up in the Air”
  • Dies – Clearly Besotted “Up in the Air”
  • Patterned papers – from My Mind’s Eye “Find you wings and fly” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Inks – Hero Arts and Versafine

I have always liked hot air balloons and this stamp set and matching dies are really fun to use. They were a recent acquisition! I stamped some with colored ink and others on patterned paper. I tried to match my ink to the colors in the paper collection. the balloons are popped up with dimensional adhesive. I used Sketch #235 at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps for inspiration. Thanks for visiting.

Freshly Made Sketches #146 – Squirrely XOXO

fm-146-xoxo

  • Stamps – 100 Proof Press “Chipmunk”, Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Antique Linen, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, Spiced Marmalade
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this simple card while out among squirrels of this kind. We went camping in Central Oregon and fed our squirrel and chipmunk friends throughout the weekend. I colored the torn cardstock with Distress Inks to match the colors around me and those I used in the chipmunk image. I used the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches (#146) when I put this card together. I have been taken with torn paper edges lately–it seemed appropriate to tear and color the accents for a natural feel for this card. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

goldenmantlebaby

This is a baby Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel. I discovered him hanging out with his sibling and Mom (?) right by our campsite. Mom was begging for nut handouts and sitting on our laps while munching peanuts. The baby was not nearly as brazen! Is it cute or what??

Clean & Simple Sketch #300 – Happy Birthday

c&s-300

  • Stamp – Penny Black “bold b’day”
  • Patterned paper – from Basic Grey “Porcelain” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Mini pearls – Doodlebug Designs
  • Ribbon – May Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card using Sketch #300 on Clean & Simple Stamping.  That’s a lot of sketches–congrats to Clean & Simple on reaching this milestone! The sketch calls for a very large sentiment, so I chose a bold Happy Birthday to fit the bill. Thanks for visiting today.
