As with most mixed-media pages, this little piece was made with a number of supplies over several days. The Mixed Media Mojo July Challenge is to create something with a Summertime theme and a “seashell twist.” The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Nautical/By the Sea. So I set to work on this page with these challenges in mnd. The circles were from Gelliplate prints. I pulled out two stamp sets that I’ve had for years for a beachy feel. I’ve also been watching Marta’s art journal and mixed media videos at Maremi SmallArt, which have been very inspirational. I built layers with gesso, tissue paper, Gelatos, ink sprays and stamping. Thanks for visiting today.

- Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists
- Ranger Dylusions Ink Spray – White Linen
- Tim Holtz Stencil – Dot Fade

- Cardstock – Bazzill and Paper Accents
- Ribbon – Michael’s
I created the background for this card when I made a number of them a couple of weeks ago. There are layers of gesso, texture paste, and inks on patterned paper. To see details, check out my previous post.
I stamped this pretty crocus and then watercolored it with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I then cut it out using the matching die and completed watercoloring the edges of the image before popping it up on the background. This qualified me for the Shopping our Stash Challenge #241 – White Out (No white paper showing)! It also fits the bill for the Mixed Media Mojo March 2016 Challenge: Springtime and Watercolor. Since we have crocus flowers popping up right now, this seemed appropriate for this time of year: almost Spring! Thanks for visiting.

I used a whole bunch of stuff in order to create the layers for this little canvas! And I used glitter and other shiny stuff that I don’t often use. The Mixed Media Mojo Challenge for January 2016 is to create something with a Winter theme and you can add a glitter twist.
I layered a lot of different products after the gesso to create a snowflakey, snowy feeling. The pearlescent modeling creme also gave off a nice sheen, as did the glitter and the embossing powder for the sentiment. The whipped spackle also give the impression of snow. I have a lot of snowflake stamps, dies and even a stencil, so it is nice to use them for something other than Christmas cards!
I like the size of this small canvas. It isn’t overwhelming and I am thinking that if I create these for each of the seasons that might be a fun little home decor item.

- Stamp – Inkadinkado
- Fabric scraps from my stash of fat quarters
- Claudine Hellmuth (Ranger) Studio Matte Multi-Medium
- Ribbon – Michael’s
- Molotow One4All Acrylic premium paint pen – Metallic Gold
- Cardstock – Bazzill
In honor of World Card Making Day, Mixed Media Mojo has a card making challenge to make a card with a Fall/Halloween theme using some fabric. I made a pretty funky card, but it was fun to do and stretched me to use some fabric. I covered some cardstock with orange batik fabric and then covered it with gel medium–that way when I stamped the Halloween sentiment on it, the ink wouldn’t bleed into the fabric. I also like the texture it gave the fabric. I then attached the pumpkin fabric to heavy black cardstock and covered the outside edges with some ribbon. Before I attached the sentiment panel, I drew some lines and dots with my trusty Molotow metallic gold acrylic paint pen. I drew along the top and bottom of the pumpkin fabric as well and then outlined it with a Micron pen. These Molotow pens really apply the paint in a steady stream–I love the white one as well. I popped up the sentiment panel with dimensional adhesive to finish the card. Thanks for visiting.

- Stencils – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz – Dot Fade and Stencil Girl – Leaf Poetry Stencil
- Stamp – Hero Arts “Newspaper Background”
- Modeling Paste – Viva Modellier Creme – Mother of Pearl and Viva Ferro – Gold iron
- Adirondak Dimension Pearls – Terra Cotta
- Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap – Melange
- Canvas
- Decorative Polyester Leaves
- Claudine Helluth Studio matte (gel) multi-medium
I created this 8 X 8″ canvas with a base of gesso and then added Ranger Distress Inks to give the background a little color. I then stamped the background with a newspaper stamp and applied some tissue wrap with matte gel medium. I added some dimension with modeling paste through stencils and painting a little paste directly onto the canvas. Finally, I attached the polyester leaves that I had in my stash with more gel medium. I drew some lines to accentuate the outline of the leaves with a fine line marker. This canvas has a lot of texture and Autumn color. I created it for the Mixed Media Mojo September Challenge, which is to create a mixed media project with a Fall theme and modeling or embossing paste. Thanks for visiting.

- Tag – Ranger #5 Manila
- Stamp – Visible Images “Roses”
- Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Mini Damask”
- Die – Lawn Fawn “Stitched Leaves” set
- Ferro – Viva Decor “Gold iron” (modeling paste)
- Tim Holtz Distress Paints – Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Tarnished Brass
- Faber Castell Gelatos – Red Cherry, Raspberry and Watermelon
- Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Walnut Stain and Spiced Marmalade
- Ribbon – May Arts “Solid Wrinkled” in Olive and Brown
- Corrugated cardboard
I sure used a lot of supplies for such a small tag! I really enjoy it when I can use a lot of different stuff from a lot of different companies to complete my final project. Makes me feel like I’ve made good use of my stash!
I started out with a plain, manila tag and brushed it with Distress Paints. I then applied Ferro through the stencil for the damask layer. Ferro is thick and has some metallic properties. Its consistency really stands up to a detailed stencil, which you might not expect. I then tore strips from the corrugated cardboard, which had come from the sleeve on my coffee cup! I distressed it with ink before adhering with gel medium. I then added the rose that I had colored on watercolor paper and smoothed out with a baby wipe. I cut the leaves from a scrap from a Gelli Plate print. I distressed the remainder of the elements with walnut stain ink and tied up the tag with the ribbon. I created this for the August Tag Challenge at Mixed Media Mojo.
For a closer look, here’s a detail shot:
