Peony Thanks

altenew-thanks

  • Stamps – Altenew “Peony Scrolls”
  • Dies –
    • Memory Box “Amira Flourish”
    • Lawn Fawn “Scripty Thanks”
  • Patterned papers –
    • Bella Blvd. Color Chaos Collection “Gulf Strandz”
    • Ella & Viv “Watercolor Paradise #8”
  • Rhinestones – A Muse Artstamps and Mark Richards Ltd.
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I played with a number of different elements and combinations before I landed on this final card! I used the sketch at Paper Players Sketch #251 as inspiration. I colored the stamped peony and leaves from Altenew with Copic markers and layered them on top of the Memory Box die cut. I added a few tiny rhinestones for a little sparkle. Thanks for visiting.

Vintage Hero Arts Card

heroarts_scramble_vintage

  • Stamps – Hero Arts “Large Flower Background – CG403” Sentiment from LP277 OWH “You’re My World”
  • Lace – Hero Arts – Cream Adhesive Lace
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Pearls – Queen & Co.
  • Inks – Ranger Distress Ink – Victorian Velvet, Old Paper, and Pumice Stone

This was a fun card to make. Over in the Hero Arts group on Flickr, I participated in my first “scramble” challenge. I had 90 minutes to create a card using something from Hero Arts that fit the theme. The theme today was “vintage.” It was sort of a comedy of errors on my part, but I squeaked in at the end of 90 minutes, completing this card. I used Distress Inks direct to the stamp and then spritzed the stamp with water and stamped the image onto watercolor paper. I then added some layers of cardstock and a sentiment from a Hero Arts Operation Write Home (OWH) set. I will add this to my OWH box that I’ll be sending off at the end of July. Thanks for stopping by.

Banner Butterfly – Thanks

banner-thanks

  • Dies –
    • Memory Box “Moonlight Butterfly” and “Kaleidoscope Butterfly”
    • Avery Elle – “Dotted Elle-ments”
    • Spellbinders Nestabilities – “Lacey Circles”
  • Stamp (thanks) – Lawn Fawn “Blue Skies”
  • Patterned papers – Bella Blvd. “Color Chaos” collection
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Faber Castell Gelatos

Here is a colorful card for the day! I created this card for Operation Write Home and I was inspired by the current OWH Mid-month Challenge: Banners. Most of the banners for this card were made from the Avery Elle “Elle-ments” set. I mixed some Gelatos on white cardstock to match some of the colors in the pretty Bella Blvd papers. I spritzed the colors with water to create my own brightly colored paper that I die cut for the background butterfly. I placed the detailed, matching butterfly die cut on top to provide some definition of the wings. Both die cuts are securely adhered beneath the butterfly body so the wings float up a bit,  to give the impression that the bug might fly off the paper! Thanks for stopping by.

The Cat’s Pajamas – TCP Tuesday Challenge #292

tcp-greenblueyellow

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Drop In” and “Simply Said”
  • Dies – The Cat’s Pajamas “Stitched Clouds”
  • Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug “Honeycomb”
  • Rhinestones – Me and My Big Ideas
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card for the TCP Tuesday challenge #292, which is a color challenge to use the colors green, blue and yellow. Unfortunately when I went to post it on their site, my Internet access blipped and my post was one minute too late for the deadline! Ugh. At any rate, This card was a simple one, using Copics to color the image. This card is going into my Operation Write Home box. It also fulfills the Our Daily Bread monthly Challenge at OWH, since this month’s theme is “missing you.”

Thanks for visiting.

Daisy Birthday for Today

daisybirthday

  • Stamps – Penny Black “Flower Festival” and Hero Arts “Happy Stamp & Cut”
  • Die – Hero Arts “Happy Stamp & Cut”
  • Patterned Paper – Echo Park “Easter Floral” (both sides)
  • Embossing Powder – Stampendous “Sapphire Pearl”
  • Enamel Dots – Bella Blvd. “Punch”
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents

This is a Spring-y Happy card. I tried something different by using a colored embossing powder as an outline for the Copic coloring I did. I had to be careful, because since Copic ink is alcohol based, the color from the embossing wanted to mix in which could cause some muddy colors. Watercolor would have been a smarter route to take. But I made it work! I used the new Hero Arts set for the sentiment die cut and stamp, which I really like a lot! Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by.

Red, Red Wine

wine

  • Stamp – Inkadinkado “Larger Glass”
  • Patterned paper – KaiserCraft “Rustic Harmony” 6-1/2″ paper pad
  • Fiber – Basic Grey
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – Biscotti
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Antique Linen
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents

The Shopping Our Stash Challenge #204 is Red, Red Wine. I decided to pull out a nice, wood-mounted stamp I’ve had for a long time for this occasion! I colored the image by applying Distress inks and blending them together, then spritzed it with the Perfect Pearls mist for a nice sheen and a couple of drops of water. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see the effect in the photo! Adding the mist and water gives it a little bit more of an aged look to the vintage image. The strip of trim is from an old Basic Grey pack I also had in my stash. Thanks for visiting today.

Gnomes!

gnomes

  • Patterned papers – Pebbles “Home Grown: Front Yard and Foliage”
  • Die – Elizabeth Craft Designs “Best Wishes”
  • Punches – EK Success
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card as sort of a challenge by my friend who owns our local papercrafting store. She gave me the gnome Pebbles paper and asked me to make something with it. This is what I came up with. The gnomes on the patterned paper needed to be the center of attention! Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

Some Birdie Misses You

owh-somebirdie

  • Stamps – Hero Arts “OWH Missing You”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels One”
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Patterned paper – Heidi Grace “Sunshowers”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • White Signo Uni-Ball pen

This card just made me happyto make, with happy colors and a funny bird. Hopefully it will cheer the recipient up. It will go in my final Operation Write Home shipment and hopefully a service member will mail this home to a child who needs a smile. I also made this for Challenge #64 at Addicted to CAS, where the challenge is to make a clean and simple card with an animal. I used some patterned paper and colored the bird with Copic markers. I liked keeping the “white space” on the right hand side with the sentiment. I pulled the whole design together with the hand-drawn “stitching.” I’m coloring for at least 10 minutes everyday for The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge, which is a fun addition to any day! Thanks for visiting.

Thanks to Saxon Tennis Coaches

  • Vintage photo
  • Stamp – My Favorite Things “All Star”
  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop Template 6 x 6″ “Quatrefoil”
  • Modeling Paste – Viva Modellier Creme – Mother of Pearl
  • Die – Lawn Fawn “Scripty Thanks”
  • Washi tape – Studio G
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

At the end of the season, it is tradition for parents of the South Salem High School tennis team to thank the coaches for all of their work and many volunteer hours they’ve contributed. The team just had their end-of-year tournament and awards ceremony this past weekend. The team captains presented each of the three coaches a gift and one of these cards, signed by all of the players. Since the school colors are light blue, red and white, I used them as my palette for the card. I added some extra texture and sheen on one of the panels by applying pearl modeling paste through a stencil. These were fun cards to make! Thanks for stopping by. Go Saxons!
