Metallic Butterfly

This was my first card made with the IndigoBlu gilding flakes. The May Mixed Media Card Challenge is to create a card with wings and an optional element of foil. The Friday Mashup Challenge #210 going on this week is to create a project with butterflies. This mix of gilding flakes is so pretty with multiple metallic colors mixed in with gold and copper. I stamped the image with FlitterGlu, which is super sticky and then burnished on the gilding flakes. It is sort of magical when you get through. I added the small die cut with another metallic texture for a little more visual interest. Here is a closer look:

OWH Finishing Strong Bloghop

Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year. All cards need to be sent in by August 1st, so I’m helping to get the word out!

I used OWH Sketch # 185 as a point of departure for this card. The color scheme is red, white and blue without it being a patriotic card per se. It is a very clean and simple design. Hydrangea ATC – Distress Watercolor

I created eight (alike) Artist’s Trading Cards (ATCs) to trade with my Craft Stamper group that meets monthly. This technique was featured in the May 2015 issue of Craft Stamper magazine. This technique works really well with imagery that is not perfectly representational since coloring your image is not necessarily within your control. The watercolor medium is Distress ink via Distress markers, with a spritz or three from a water bottle! Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Mother’s Day

I’m late getting in the game here, but here is my Mom’s Mother’s Day card that I delivered today. I love a square card! I used the Clean & Simple Stamping Fall to Layout #11 (take two) as sketch inspiration to create this. I stamped with these wonderful Altenew stamps that you can layer together to make some lovely dimensional flowers. I used Colorbox Chalk Inks to layer the color on these roses and leaves.
