I created the background for this card when I made a number of them a couple of weeks ago. There are layers of gesso, texture paste, and inks on patterned paper. To see details, check out my previous post.
I stamped this pretty crocus and then watercolored it with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I then cut it out using the matching die and completed watercoloring the edges of the image before popping it up on the background. This qualified me for the Shopping our Stash Challenge #241 – White Out (No white paper showing)! It also fits the bill for the Mixed Media Mojo March 2016 Challenge: Springtime and Watercolor. Since we have crocus flowers popping up right now, this seemed appropriate for this time of year: almost Spring! Thanks for visiting.

- Stamps – Altnew “Fresh Freesia”
- Corner punch – Fiskars “Spiral”
- Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers
- Cardstock – Worldwin
- Watercolor paper – Canson Aquarelle 140 lb. cold press
This clean and simple, one-layer card features the lovely Altenew Freesia stamps. I’ll be giving this card to a friend who recently lost her mother. The coloring is done with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. It is so fun to watercolor with these–the results are actually quite remarkable (bad pun–sorry!). Thanks for visiting.

- Dies – Simon Says Stamp “Stitched Daisies” and “Thanks” (from Stamptember 2015 and 2014, respectively!)
- Ranger Distress Inks – Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Chipped Sapphire
- White Heavyweight Vellum – Paper Accents
- Cardstock – Bazzill Dotted Swiss – Deep Blue and Paper Accents – Blue Odyssey
- Punch – Marvy 1″ circle
I started out by creating a background for this card. I decided I would work with blues so I could participate in the current Addicted to CAS challenge #71: Code Word Blue. I used the “ink smooshing” technique I first learned from Kristina Werner, with Ranger Distress inks. I wanted to get some good contrast of tone and value as I smooshed the ink around. I die cut the daisies from heavyweight vellum to show off the “stitching” that is embossed on the petals. I wanted to showcase the daisies a bit more, so I added small punched white circles behind each and then repeated the circles in vellum to accent the sentiment. This isolated them from the busy background a little bit. I also applied a little Chipped Sapphire ink to the sentiment so that it stood out just a little bit more. I adhered the piece to a top-folding card and finished it all off with some Wink of Stella sparkle on the daisies. Thanks for visiting.

I created this card as part of a personal challenge on the Hero Arts Flickr group, where we challenged ourselves to create a card with at least one Hero Arts product within a 90 minute timeframe. I made it (barely!) within that amount of time. I’m very slow and methodical, so any timed challenge is really tough for me! The background was something I made after taking the first day of Online Card Classes “Background Check” class. I used Distress inks and water, plus a lovely Hero Arts background stamp to make the background. A very fun technique! Thanks for visiting today.

- Dies –
- Memory Box “Amira Flourish”
- Lawn Fawn “Scripty Thanks”
- Patterned papers –
- Bella Blvd. Color Chaos Collection “Gulf Strandz”
- Ella & Viv “Watercolor Paradise #8”

I played with a number of different elements and combinations before I landed on this final card! I used the sketch at Paper Players Sketch #251 as inspiration. I colored the stamped peony and leaves from Altenew with Copic markers and layered them on top of the Memory Box die cut. I added a few tiny rhinestones for a little sparkle. Thanks for visiting.

I created eight (alike) Artist’s Trading Cards (ATCs) to trade with my Craft Stamper group that meets monthly. This technique was featured in the May 2015 issue of Craft Stamper magazine. This technique works really well with imagery that is not perfectly representational since coloring your image is not necessarily within your control. The watercolor medium is Distress ink via Distress markers, with a spritz or three from a water bottle! Thanks for stopping by today.

I’m late getting in the game here, but here is my Mom’s Mother’s Day card that I delivered today. I love a square card! I used the Clean & Simple Stamping Fall to Layout #11 (take two) as sketch inspiration to create this. I stamped with these wonderful Altenew stamps that you can layer together to make some lovely dimensional flowers. I used Colorbox Chalk Inks to layer the color on these roses and leaves. Thanks for visiting today.

- Die – Simon Says Stamp “Medium Tags”
- Rhinestones – KaiserCraft – Dark Green

For this card I created a watercolor background and stamped over it with silhouette-style floral stamps. I used stamps from several different stamp sets to put this altogether. I always find mixing-up stamp sets to be fun. The current challenge (Challenge #16) for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group is to use watercoloring on your card or project. Here you’ve got my entry. Thanks for visiting.

Happy World Cardmaking Day! We are having an Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog Hop in honor of this day. Lots of cardmakers are participating, so make sure you check out all of the talent. If you’d like to know more about the current needs of OWH, check out Operation Tape Gun.
Welcome to my stop. My card is very simple and features a little bit of dimension and some texture. The stamp came as a bonus on the cover of Craft Stamper magazine! Each issue comes with an acrylic stamp. I colored the “Rose Square” stamped image with Copic markers. The small purple piece is popped up with dimensional adhesive and the sentiment die cut floats above the background. I am helping others make this same card at Runaway Art and Craft Studio this weekend during a Make & Take on Saturday.
To return to the Hop, go to the top of Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps home page and you’ll find it at the top of the page through this weekend.
Thanks for visiting!
