OWH Sketch #230 – Hello

owh-sketch230

  • Stamp – Hero Arts Operation Write Home set “Li’l Hoot”
  • Dies – Technique Tuesday “Say it – Hello” and Spellbinders Nestabilities ‘Standard Circles Large”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Up & Away” collection
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents and BoBunny

This was a fun card to make. I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps: OWH Sketch #230. I colored the bears with watercolor pencils and blended with a water brush. I liked using the bright colors with this sketch to make a card that would be good for a kid of any age! Thanks for visiting.

Happy Mother’s Day – Gelatos

MothersDay-Gelato

  • Floral Stamp – Hero Arts “Painted Flower”
  • Sentiment Stamp – Wordsworth “Happy Mother’s Day”
  • Twine – American Crafts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

For this card, I was inspired by Shari Carroll at Online Card Classes “Watercolor for Cardmakers” class. I used Gelatos to color the flower direct to rubber and applied water to create this great watercolor effect. The design of the card is very simple to show off the pretty flower. To see a little bit more, check out the detail below and have a great day. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Masculine “Thinking of You” card

mwt-masc-thinkofyou

  • Stamp – Hero Arts – Operation Write Home “You’re Always in my Heart” set
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey Hipster Collection: “neato,” “fab,” and “radical.”
  • Arrow sticker – Basic Grey Hipster Collection stickers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Wood Tape – BARC – “Cherry”

I created this card for the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown Challenge: Masculine “Thinking of You” card. I wanted to use some of the new (to me) papers I just found at Tuesday Morning—marked way down! I’ve always been a fan of Basic Grey, so these were right up my alley. Then I threw in some of the new wood tape I found.  I made up a sketch that would accommodate several patterns and away I went. I inked the edges of all of the pieces to create a visual separation. Thanks for stopping by today.

Clean and Simple Anniversary – Grays

anniversary-2014

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Patterned Paper – We R Memory Keepers “Winter Frost Collection: Frost”
  • Dies – Memory Box “Valerian Flourish” and Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Nine” and “Standard Circles Large”
  • Black Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin and Bazzill

I really like to use the color gray in design. It is a neutral with so many possibilities. This week’s CAS-ual Friday challenge (CFC129) is to use at least two shades of gray in a clean and simple project. I have used several different colors of gray (one silver-y gray!) cardstock and there are grays in the patterned paper also. I gave this card to my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary, which we celebrated yesterday. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Sketch #210: Lucky Stars

owh-sketch-210-luckystars

  • Stamps – from Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Happy Camper” and “Call of the Wild” and Pebbles “Lakeside: Canoe”

This is another entry in the CardBowl challenges at Operation Write Home (OWH) Stars and Stamps this weekend. This card was based on OWH Sketch #210 and has kind of a star theme. I used constellation paper and stamped stars from the Hero Arts OWH set from a couple of years ago. It also follows an outdoor theme, so it fits well with the challenge at Shopping Our Stash Cabin Fever Challenge #136 for an outdoors-y card. I dug around in my patterned papers for this one! Thanks for visiting.

OWH – Our Daily Bread February Challenge

owh-odbc-feb

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “A Very Special Birthday”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Deckled Rectangles Large”
  • Patterned papers – Canvas Corp. “Chocolate & Kraft Diamonds” and “Chocolate and Kraft Mini Dot”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is an Operation Write Home card for the Our Daily Bread February Challenge. The challenge was to make a masculine card featuring the color brown. This is a very clean and simple card with some distress ink on the sentiment. Thanks for visiting.

Wishing… with colored pencils

occ-stencil-day2-pencil

  • Stencil – Hero Arts “Borders”
  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings”
  • Border punch – Fiskars “Upper Crest”
  • Cardstock – Neenah Solar White, Bazzill
  • Colored pencils – Staedtler
  • Prismacolor colored pencil – white

I created this card based on Day Two lessons on Online Card Classes Stenciled class. I used colored pencils with a stencil and then continued to smear the coloring in the same direction as my coloring with an eraser. I then took a white Prismacolor pencil and colored through the stenciled images with vertical strokes. This gives the impression of the objects falling or raining down. Thanks for stopping by.

Miss you all the time: Stenciled – Day One

occ-stencil-day1-embossing

  • Stencil – Tim Holtz Collection – Stamper’s Anonymous “Clockwork”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts OWH Set “You’re Always in my Heart”
  • Patterned paper – Marion Smith Designs – “Nirvana: Photo Op”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger – Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet  and Walnut Stain

This was the first card that I’ve made during the Online Card Classes Stenciled. This one is from a lesson during Day One. I used heat embossing and a stencil for this card, applying color with Ranger Distress inks. As usual, I’m really enjoying this class and having fun trying some new techniques. I will be adding this to my Operation Write Home box–it is always fun to use the OWH stamps from Hero Arts. Thanks for visiting.

Joy to All – 365 Cards Sketch Day 342

365-Sketch-Day342

  • Image and patterned paper – from KaiserCraft “St. Nicholas Collection”
  • Diecut from – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Resplendent Rectangles” die set
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Joy to All”
  • Holly leaves satin trim – May Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I’ve been slow about posting my Christmas cards this week; I’m trying to finish them up. This card has a vintage look to it and I was inspired by a sketch at 365 Cards for Day 342. I really like the detail in the holly leaves on the May Arts trim–it adds a different texture to the card. I just cut some holly from a tree in the yard today, so I must be in a holly mood! Thanks for stopping by today.
