Season’s Greetings featuring Gelli print

  • Dies –
    • Spellbinders Nestabilities – Resplendent Rectangles
    • Elizabeth Craft Designs – Season’s Greetings
    • Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations – Holiday Greens
  • Patterned paper – KaiserCraft – Christmas Carol 6-1/2″ paper pad
  • Metallic paper (red) – Paper Accents
  • Gelli Plate print

It was kind of difficult to capture this ornament accurately with all of the reflection on the red metallic die-cut. This die-cut really shines and sparkles! The background is a gelli plate print I made previously, mainly with red paint and stencils. I accented the frame with holly from the Sizzix die set. The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Make it Sparkle, but I hope a little shine will also fit the bill! Thanks for visiting and Happy Holidays!

I created three ornaments for three magician friends who have been mentors for Trenton since January 2009 (nearly 8 years), since he was 10 years old. He was the charter member of Salem’s Society of Young Magicians and performing magic effects has been a large part of young life. Now that he is 18, as the bylaws of the Society of Young Magicians state, he must move up to the Society of American Magicians (the adult group). So this weekend, Trenton attended his last meeting and performed in his last show with the group. As a thank you, our family gave Glen, Tom and John (the mentors) each a gift basket and each included a personalized ornament shown above.

magic-detailornamentI took a vintage image of a magician and collaged it with some die-cuts and other ephemera. I applied collage medium that gave the image an antiqued quality, including a crazing (crackle) effect. Then I added some walnut stain Distress Ink to the edges of the image and to the crazed texture to show it off a bit more. I created a different composition for each ornament that included an Alpha card (playing off the tricks they all do with cards) that is an initial of either their first or last name, and other embellishments for visual interest. It was a fun project to do and hopefully provided them with a small memento that will make them think of Trenton when they decorate their trees.

I am including this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge “Christmas Gifts.”

Artist’s Trading Card – Earth Laughs

atc_earth_laughs

  • Stamps – Stampers Anonymous, Tim Holtz Collection “Mini Bouquet”
  • Dies – Sizzix Framelets “Flower Garden & Mini Bouquet”
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions “Leaves”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling
  • Zig Clean Color markers
  • Ranger Distress Inks

I created these Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) to swap with some online friends. Our theme was Nature’s Beauty. I started by stamping the flower images on watercolor paper and then coloring them with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I used the matching dies to cut out the watercolored flowers. After I cut the cardstock into trading card size (2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″), I ran them through my Cuttlebug with the embossing folder to achieve the leaf background. I then adhered the die-cut flowers to the cards. I printed out the Emerson quote and applied Distress inks, cut out the quotes and adhered them to the cards. Thanks for visiting.

Mosaic Butterflies

  • Stamps –
    • Indigo Blu Limor Webber Designs – “Limor Circles”
    • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection – “Papillon”
  • Strathmore Bristol paper
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks
  • White embossing powder
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayons
  • Derwent Inktense pencil
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium: Crazing
  • Cardstock

I was inspired to make this from a project in the October 2016 issue of Craft Stamper magazine, and adapted the technique to fit the supplies I had. First I created a mosaic background first, by cutting up different sized “tiles” from bristol paper, fitting them together and adhering them onto a piece of heavy cardstock. I then applied Distress Inks to the background with a foam applicator before stamping the butterfly image. I spattered some water to give it some additional visual interest. I then stamped and heat embossed the circles, using white embossing powder for some nice contrast. I added the tissue tape and accents with the Inktense pencil and Distress Crayon. Finally, I added a thick coating of Crazing collage medium around the edges to give it a nice crackle, let it dry and attached it to a folded navy card. I will enter this in the Anything Goes November Challenge at Craft Stamper, taking the theme and making it my own! Thanks for stopping by.

Lawn Fawn Get Well

  • Stamps –
    • Lawn Fawn “Jump for Joy” set and “Wheelie Like You”
    • Avery Elle “Petals and Stems” (sentiment)
  • Patterned papers –
    • Bella Blvd “Hello Autumn”
    • Pebbles “Woodland Forest”
  • Woodgrain tape – American Crafts
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card for my son to give his good friend who was just diagnosed with Leukemia. They’ve been friends since kindergarten–and now they are high school seniors. I colored the critters with Copics and then fussy cut them. I didn’t want any white around the edges that the dies would leave (and I don’t have dies for all of the creatures anyway!). I edged all of the critters and leaves with black. I arranged the animals and added some sequins to jazz things up a bit. I stamped the sentiment on the woodgrain tape and cut a “tail” for a flag.

Fright Night

  • Die cuts – K & Co. Rob and Bob “Halloween Words and Icons”
  • Embossing folder – We R Memory Keepers “Gemstones”
  • Patterned paper – Pebbles “Trick or Treat”
  • Ranger Distress Ink – Seedless Preserves
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – Biscotti
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents

This is another card I created with the Halloween die-cuts that I’ve had for a number of years. The background is dry embossed with distress ink applied to the “hills” of the texture. This adds a subtle purple outline of the pattern on the grey cardstock. I sprayed it all with Perfect Pearls mist to give it a nice sheen. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Halloween!

  • Die cuts – K&Co. – Rob & Bob Halloween Words and Icons
  • Patterned paper – Graphic 45 – “Twas the Night Before Christmas” collection
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Distress Ink – Black soot

This is a super simple card featuring some die cuts that I’ve had in my stash for a long time. I think more cards using these will be coming! My creative mojo has escaped me, so I’m keeping it simple. I inked the edges with black Distress Ink and scattered a few sequins to dress it up a bit. I thought it was kind of funny that i used some paper from a Christmas collection for the background on a Halloween card! Thanks for stopping by!

Halloween Mouse

  • Stamps – Penny Black “Halloween Critters”
  • Patterned Paper – MME “Happy Haunting”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Fleur de Lis Rectangles”
  • Ribbon – Michaels
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic markers
  • Glossy Accents

I made this Halloween card for a swap with an online card group I belong to. I colored the image with Copics and cut it out, placing it on top of the same image that was stamped on the pale blue cardstock. I added a layer of Glossy Accents to the yellow moon for some shine. A pretty simple card with a cute little mouse. Thanks for stopping by.

Grateful Woodland Animals

  • Patterned paper – Pebbles “Woodland Forest” (both sides)
  • Stamp – Hero Arts
  • Cardstock –
  • Distress inks – Ranger “Carved Pumpkin” and “Walnut Stain”
  • Circle punch – 1-1/2″

This paper is so cute–full of different animals. So I punched each of them out with a circle punch and edged them with Distress Ink. The flip-side of the animal paper had a pleasing pattern so that served as the background for the animal portraits. I also was able to stamp the sentiment on the paper. Thanks for stopping by.

Crow!

    • Ranger – Dina Wakley Media “Spaced Dots”
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Hickory Smoke and Wilted Violet

I created this card on World Cardmaking Day. It was fun to see what I could do with these stamp sets. I stenciled the background with Distress Inks and used a little bit of sparkly twine to set off the crow image.I hope it isn’t too spooky for you! Thanks for stopping by!
