Daisy Tag

Daisy-Tag-Distress

  • Dies – Simon Says Stamp “Stitched Daisies”
  • Stencil – Ranger Dylusions “Fronds of  Foliage”
  • Tag – Ranger #8 Manila Tag
  • Distress Crayons – Ranger Tim Holtz: Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, and Mermaid Lagoon
  • Distress Inks – Ranger Tim Holtz: Chipped Sapphire and Salty Ocean
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ribbon

This tag was my first experiment with Distress Crayons. I started with a manila tag and colored it with three different colors of the crayons, pretty much covering the whole tag. I spritzed it with water and blended the colors a bit. I applied Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink through the stencil in a few spots and then applied Salty Ocean ink all around the edges of the tag, blending all of the colors together. Along the way, I spritzed and splattered some water to add some nice spots! The focal point is the set of daisy die cuts from Simon Says Stamp, that I also distressed with Chipped Sapphire before adhering to the tag. I like how the ink picks up the faux stitching on the daisies. Thanks for visiting today.

Snowy New Year Canvas

  • Dies –
    • Simon Says Stamp – “Abby Snowflake”
    • Simon Says stamp – “Melody Snowflake”
    • Memory Box – “New Castle Snowflake”
    • Sizzix – Tim Holtz Alterations -“Mixed Media”
  • Stencil – Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous – “Snowflakes”
  • Stamps – Judikins “Happy New Year” and Stampendous “Snowflake”
  • Faber Castell Whipped Spackle

  • Glitter – Stampendous – Crystal Snow, Gold Ultrafine, and Frantage silver crushed glass glitter
  • Ranger Dina Wakley Media Gel Medium – Lots!
  • Ranger Dina Wakley acrylic paints – Turquoise, Sky, Lapis, and White

I used a whole bunch of stuff in order to create the layers for this little canvas! And I used glitter and other shiny stuff that I don’t often use. The Mixed Media Mojo Challenge for January 2016 is to create something with a Winter theme and you can add a glitter twist. new_year_canvas_detail

I layered a lot of different products after the gesso to create a snowflakey, snowy feeling. The pearlescent modeling creme also gave off a nice sheen, as did the glitter and the embossing powder for the sentiment. The whipped spackle also give the impression of snow. I have a lot of snowflake stamps, dies and even a stencil, so it is nice to use them for something other than Christmas cards!

I like the size of this small canvas. It isn’t overwhelming and I am thinking that if I create these for each of the seasons that might be a fun little home decor item.

Holiday Wishes – Hero Arts “Scramble”

HeroArts-HolidayWishes

  • Stamps: All Hero Arts
    • CL469 – Swirl Christmas
    • CL 887 Color Layering Christmas Tree
  • Gemstones – Hero Arts – Baby Blue and Clear
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Fancy Tags”
  • Distress Inks: Broken China and Tumbled Glass
  • Ombre Ink – Hero Arts – Pool to Navy
  • Neenah Solar White cardstock

I created this card for a 90-minute challenge I participated in with my Flickr Hero Arts group last weekend. The challenge, called a scramble, was to put together a holiday/Winter card using tiny stamps and it has to be completed and posted within 90 minutes. I’m pretty slow to complete my cards, so doing these are always very challenging for me! But I did it! I created the background by applying the two Distress Ink colors with an foam ink applicator and then spattered it with water. Once dry, I stamped the snowflakes and swirls (from two different clear stamp sets) with the ombre ink pad. I die-cut the label and stamped the sentiment from the CL887 set and popped it up with dimensional adhesive. I added a gemstone to the center of each snowflake for a little sparkle.

I was able to also play along in the Paper Players Challenge #273 with this card. This challenge is a TIC-TAC-TOE puzzle and I picked the three items from the top left to the bottom right diagonally shown on the puzzle board: Snowflake-Sparkle-Die-cut!  Perfect! Thanks for visiting.

Witchy with her cute friends

MFT-Halloween

  • Stamps – My Favorite Things “Witch Way is the Candy” clear stamp set
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix Texture Fades – Tim Holtz “Cobwebs”
  • Copic markers
  • Wink of Stella
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

I really enjoyed coloring these stamped images!  The little animals are so cute. I colored each with Copic markers and cut them out by hand. I popped up the frog with some foam adhesive and made a little spring out of paper so the bat would pop out and wiggle a bit. The background is black cardstock embossed with the Cobwebs Texture Fades by Sizzix. I was so pleased to be able to borrow the embossing folder from a friend while I was putting this card together! I then colored the web with my Wink of Stella pen for some sparkle (you know, the way a web would sparkle in the sun). For a closer look, some of the details are shown below.

I am entering this into the Friday Mashup Challenge this week for its Halloween theme. I’ve also been coloring along this month with Kathy’s coloring challenge at The Daily Marker: 30 Day Coloring Challenge. We try to color at least 10 minutes a day! Thanks for visiting today.mft-halloween-kitty

Watercolor pansies

occ-watercolorpansies

  • Stamp – Technique Tuesday “Greenhouse Society – Pansy” August 2015
  • Tim Holtz Distress watercolor cardstock – Ranger Ink
  • Embossing powder – Detail Silver
  • Tim Holtz Distress Markers – Ranger Ink – Dusty Concord, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron, and Broken China

I’m taking the Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers: Exploring Mediums class right now. This was an image I painted as a result of Day One’s lessons using watercolor-based markers. First I heat embossed the image from Technique Tuesday with silver embossing powder. I then used Ranger Distress Ink markers as my watercolor medium. I haven’t quite pulled a card together with this yet. Thanks for visiting today.

Thank You in Three Pastels

sssflickr-26-thankyou

  • Dies – Simon Says Stamp – “Stitched Rectangles” and “Frames” (two die cuts from this set)
  • Stencil – Simon Says Stamp – “Circle Dots”
  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp (designed by Hero Arts) – “Brave (OWH)”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill (white) and BoBunny “Passion Fruit Dot”
  • Inks – Ranger Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, and Shaded Lilac; Hero Arts Ombre pad – Pink to Red (used on sentiment)
  • Bling – Hero Arts and Mark Richards

I created this card for two Simon Says Stamp (SSS) challenges. The Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #26 is to create a card using pastel colors. The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is to create a project featuring three colors. So I made a card that has three pastel colors and lots of polka dots. I created the background by applying Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac Distress inks through the SSS stencil. I then blended Tumbled Glass ink onto cardstock and die cut it for the sentiment. Three gemstones were attached to three of the background dots for just a little sparkle. I layered all of the elements onto polka dot-covered cardstock to tie it all together. Thanks for stopping by.

So Awesome

Chickaniddy-2

  • Stamp – from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Watercolor” set
  • Papers – Chickaniddy Crafts “Here’s the Story” (both sides) and “Oh Happy Day”
  • Ranger Distress Markers – Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Broken China, Spun Sugar
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I do enjoy a card sketch with a flag banner! So I found this sketch, Freshly Made Sketches #197, pretty inviting. I was asked to create a card with patterned papers from Chickaniddy Crafts at my local papercrafting store, Runaway Art & Craft Supply. I decided to use the watercolor butterfly as the focal point and selected Distress ink colors that matched the patterned papers. Thanks for visiting.

Bird Craziness

crazy-patterned-bird

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous “Bird Crazy” set from the Tim Holtz Collection
  • Patterned papers – Chickaniddy Crafts “The Good Life ” and “Daily Schedule”
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous – Jade Pearl
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and Neenah

I managed to make this crazy bird look a little crazier by heat embossing the image on Chickaniddy Crafts patterned paper and cutting him out. Thanks for stopping by.

Wish I was there

foxes-wishIwasthere

  • Stamps – All from Hero Arts “OWH The Fox Says” set and “OWH Right at Home”
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix  Tim Hotz Alterations “Honeycomb” Texture Fades
  • Border punch – EK Success “Dotted Wave” edger
  • Patterned paper – Lawn Fawn “Polka Dot Bikini” (stars)
  • Baker’s Twine – Doodlebug Designs
  • Carstock – Bazzill

Just a quick post of a card I made with some more images I colored during Day 4 for The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. The Freshly Made Sketches sketch #176 was inspiration for this card. The stars were leftovers from a diecut I used on a previous card. Nothing wasted! I colored the foxes with Copics and popped up the foxes and stars with dimensional adhesive. This sentiment is perfect for Operation Write Home for a hero to send home. Thanks for visiting.

Hydrangea – Missing You

Hydrangea-CAS

  • Stamps –
  • Stampers Anonymous Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi “Hydrangea”
  • Simon Says Stamp “OWH – Brave” set
  • Stencil – Stampers Anonymous Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi “Hydrangea”
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Shaded Lilac, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Antique Linen, Mowed Lawn
  • Cardstock – Ninah Solar White 80#
  • Uni-Ball Signo Pen – white

This clean and simple (CAS) card features the hydrangea from a recent Stampers Anonymous stamp and stencil set. The Addicted to CAS Challenge #58 is to be inspired by the code word: Distress. I used Ranger Distress inks through the stencil after I stamped the hydrangea image. I also spattered dilluted Distress ink to tie the elements of the card together and still keep it one layer. I added some stippling with my white Signo pen to provide some texture and pattern to the image. This also fits the bill for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group Challenge #14, which is to create a one layer Clean and Simple Card. It is pretty challenging to create a single layer card! This will be a perfect card to send in my Operation Write Home box. Thanks for stopping by.
