- Ranger Wendy Vecchi Mica ink spray – Buttercup
- Copic markers
- Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
- Bristol and Cardstock
This is a card I entered in the Oregon State Fair Paper Arts competition and it won a first place in the mixed media category. Yay, me! I spent a lot of time layering the Distress Oxide inks and texture paste. The stamp set comes with a stencil that I used, that matches the geometric shapes in the cat stamps. I added the mica spray ink for some shine and contrast. I colored the cat and butterflies with Copic markers, attached them to the background and finished if off with sequins to repeat the yellow from the spray. I really enjoyed making this card and playing with such a variety of media. Thanks for visiting.

I created this card for a 90-minute challenge on the Hero Arts Flickr group. The challenge was to create a postcard, and I did it in about 45 minutes which is pretty much a record for me. I made a background with Distress Oxide inks, stamped the penguins and star, and then added color to the stamped images with the gel pens. After rushing and completing it, I went back into it and played with it a little bit more, pulling some of the color from the penguin bodies so they looked whiter, and adding more color and sparkle to the star and penguins. Then I mounted the postcard onto a card base, since it was unlikely I would use it as a postcard. Thanks for visiting.

I made this card for a friend who turned 50. I worked with him for a long time, and always joked with him that I raised him from a the time he was a pup! So this card came together appropriately! It is hard to see the details in this photo (he took the picture for me–I had forgotten to do it before I gave it to him–oops!), but there are a lot of layers and textures. I started out by applying Distress Oxide inks and water to the media board in a number of layers, drying after each application. Then I added transparent texture paste through the grid stencil and added more ink. I then stenciled the numbers (50) from the “Cargo” stencil. The dog stamp was designed by Brett Weldele, who is a local artist here in Salem. Thanks for visiting.

- Stamps – Ranger – Dina Wakley Media “Scribbly Flowers” (flower and sentiment)
- Paint – Dina Wakley Media acrylic paints
- Dina Wakley Media scribble sticks
- Dina Wakley Media Tape
- Washi tape
- Hampton Art KI Memories Yellow gems
- Handmade paper – Teal
- Cardstock – Black – Bazzill
I created this brightly colored, mixed media card by brushing on acrylic paints in the background, and accenting the stamped image with Scribble Sticks. I stamped the quote on Dina’s Media Tape, which is sort of like homemade Washi tape (I scribbled on it also). I added a thin strip of patterned Washi tape I had in my stash as well. I’m entering this card in the Creative Artiste’s Challenge #26, which is to create using mixed media. Thanks for visiting.

I created three ornaments for three magician friends who have been mentors for Trenton since January 2009 (nearly 8 years), since he was 10 years old. He was the charter member of Salem’s Society of Young Magicians and performing magic effects has been a large part of young life. Now that he is 18, as the bylaws of the Society of Young Magicians state, he must move up to the Society of American Magicians (the adult group). So this weekend, Trenton attended his last meeting and performed in his last show with the group. As a thank you, our family gave Glen, Tom and John (the mentors) each a gift basket and each included a personalized ornament shown above.
I took a vintage image of a magician and collaged it with some die-cuts and other ephemera. I applied collage medium that gave the image an antiqued quality, including a crazing (crackle) effect. Then I added some walnut stain Distress Ink to the edges of the image and to the crazed texture to show it off a bit more. I created a different composition for each ornament that included an Alpha card (playing off the tricks they all do with cards) that is an initial of either their first or last name, and other embellishments for visual interest. It was a fun project to do and hopefully provided them with a small memento that will make them think of Trenton when they decorate their trees.
I am including this in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge “Christmas Gifts.”

- Dies – Sizzix Framelets “Flower Garden & Mini Bouquet”
- Embossing folder – Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions “Leaves”
- Cardstock – Bazzill Bling
- Zig Clean Color markers
- Ranger Distress Inks
I created these Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) to swap with some online friends. Our theme was Nature’s Beauty. I started by stamping the flower images on watercolor paper and then coloring them with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I used the matching dies to cut out the watercolored flowers. After I cut the cardstock into trading card size (2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″), I ran them through my Cuttlebug with the embossing folder to achieve the leaf background. I then adhered the die-cut flowers to the cards. I printed out the Emerson quote and applied Distress inks, cut out the quotes and adhered them to the cards. Thanks for visiting.

- White embossing powder
- Ranger Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
- Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayons
- Derwent Inktense pencil
- Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium: Crazing
- Cardstock
I was inspired to make this from a project in the October 2016 issue of Craft Stamper magazine, and adapted the technique to fit the supplies I had. First I created a mosaic background first, by cutting up different sized “tiles” from bristol paper, fitting them together and adhering them onto a piece of heavy cardstock. I then applied Distress Inks to the background with a foam applicator before stamping the butterfly image. I spattered some water to give it some additional visual interest. I then stamped and heat embossed the circles, using white embossing powder for some nice contrast. I added the tissue tape and accents with the Inktense pencil and Distress Crayon. Finally, I added a thick coating of Crazing collage medium around the edges to give it a nice crackle, let it dry and attached it to a folded navy card. I will enter this in the Anything Goes November Challenge at Craft Stamper, taking the theme and making it my own! Thanks for stopping by.
