First, I created the multi-colored background by painting with Distress Inks and water, and then spritzed it with a little more water to get some nice spots! Then I die-cut it and the fox and sentiment and put them altogether. I unified it with more metallic gold by adding the sequins. I mounted the pieces on black to make the colors pop. I created these Artist’s Trading Cards to share at my monthly Craft Stamper group this past week. The inspiration came from the December 2015 issue of Craft Stamper magazine, pages 10-12, which featured techniques by Designer Kim Dellow. I worked in layers, with old book pages adhered with gel medium and covered with a thin layer of gesso. I added stamped images and areas of watercolor with Inktense pencil and waterbrush, creating a masterboard and then cut the “board” into 2-1/2″ X 3-1/2″ backgrounds. I then attached my gold vellum oak leaves with two french knots tied from gold metallic thread. Finally, I edged the card with a gold Krylon pen to pick up the gold metallic for a finishing touch.

‘Tis the season to begin creating all things Halloween! This card features a happy pumpkin with a mouse friend. I colored the stamped i
mage with Copic markers and then layered papers to bring out the various colors in the image. This is also fits the challenge right now at Crafts Galore for a Halloween themed card. This card took me way longer than it should have to construct! I’ve been kind of in a creative slump lately and just not had time to complete a card, so it was a relief to get this put together! I started out by creating a background for this card. I decided I would work with blues so I could participate in the current Addicted to CAS challenge #71: Code Word Blue. I used the “ink smooshing” technique I first learned from Kristina Werner, with Ranger Distress inks. I wanted to get some good contrast of tone and value as I smooshed the ink around. I die cut the daisies from heavyweight vellum to show off the “stitching” that is embossed on the petals. I wanted to showcase the daisies a bit more, so I added small punched white circles behind each and then repeated the circles in vellum to accent the sentiment. This isolated them from the busy background a little bit. I also applied a little Chipped Sapphire ink to the sentiment so that it stood out just a little bit more. I adhered the piece to a top-folding card and finished it all off with some Wink of Stella sparkle on the daisies. Thanks for visiting.

I created this card for two Simon Says Stamp (SSS) challenges. The Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #26 is to create a card using pastel colors. The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is to create a project featuring three colors. So I made a card that has three pastel colors and lots of polka dots. I created the background by applying Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac Distress inks through the SSS stencil. I then blended Tumbled Glass ink onto cardstock and die cut it for the sentiment. Three gemstones were attached to three of the background dots for just a little sparkle. I layered all of the elements onto polka dot-covered cardstock to tie it all together. Thanks for stopping by.

I created this card for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group Challenge #25: White on White with a Touch of Color. I immediately thought of Winter cards for this color scheme. I applied some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with a foam applicator for a little contrast in the background for the snowflakes. I then added sequins and Wink of Stella sparkly ink around the snowflakes for a bit more frost. Finally, I layered the white “stitched” piece onto a white card. I really enjoyed making this card! Maybe it is because our normally mild Pacific Northwest weather was in the 90s once again today! Thanks for stopping by.

I have been inspired over the past few days by Kathy Racoosen of The Daily Marker fame. She is currently hosting a “Pop-up challenge” to create with lines in your coloring projects, which is lots of fun. The first piece I’ve actually finished in card form is here. I drew lines with a Sharpie and a thinner Copic Multi-liner. I then added color to the random shapes I created with watercolor markers and blended those areas with a water brush. I then die cut the design and added the die-cut sentiment (actually two for a drop shadow effect). I created more lines with the baker’s twine on a piece of cardstock, and mounted the colored design on top with dimensional adhesive which grounded the image. I worked on this over several days, so I was pretty happy just to finish it! Thanks for visiting today.

I created this card as part of My Favorite Things Summer School Lesson 11: Repetition. I used dies for the motif I repeated and heat embossed the sentiment with a pearly blue to pick up on the colors used for the dies and background. The dies create a nice rhythm down the card, drawing your eye to the sentiment. I decided to use complementary colors to make the elements pop. Thanks for stopping by.

I created this card as part of a personal challenge on the Hero Arts Flickr group, where we challenged ourselves to create a card with at least one Hero Arts product within a 90 minute timeframe. I made it (barely!) within that amount of time. I’m very slow and methodical, so any timed challenge is really tough for me! The background was something I made after taking the first day of Online Card Classes “Background Check” class. I used Distress inks and water, plus a lovely Hero Arts background stamp to make the background. A very fun technique! Thanks for visiting today.
