365-Day298-HalloweenCat

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Dressed to Scare”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Happy Haunting” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Black Ric Rac
  • Copic markers

Here we have a nice kitty, all dressed up for Halloween. It fits well with the challenge for Day 298 over at 365 Cards. After stamping the image, I colored it with Copic markers. Layers are in orange and purple and grey, oh MY. Quite Halloweeny! Thanks for visiting.

OWH – Another Winter Animal for Midweek Throwdown

owh-mwt-natureofchristmas2

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “Snow Penguin” set
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park “Very Merry Christmas”
  • Die cuts – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Ovals” and “Resplendent Rectangles”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

I had to make another card for the Nature of Christmas Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps! The penguin stamps were calling me! So I colored this guy with Copic markers and popped him up a little bit with dimensional adhesive, along with the sentiment. I like the light blue and red with the black and white for a nicely contrasting color scheme. This could be used by our heroes as a Winter card, since there isn’t anything directly Christmas-y about it. Thanks for visiting today!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: The Nature of Christmas – Polar Bear

owh-mwt-natureofchristmas

  • Stamp – The Cat’s Pajamas “Knut” and “Cool Yule”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Merry” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Die cuts – Impression Obsession – Snowflakes Die Set; Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Gemstone – Hero Arts “Citron”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I can think of few things better than having animals on one’s Christmas cards. Just my opinion. So this week’s Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is to create a Christmas card  featuring something from nature. You can see where I immediately jumped. The Cat’s Pajamas always makes outstanding animal stamps–of course, they are often penguins which make them even more outstanding! I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Glossy Accents to the little fishing hole to make it look like water. The snowflake die cut is to convince you that it is cold there! Thanks for checking this out today!

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 1 – Umbrella Man Industrial Tag

cc102-Day1-Industrial

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Umbrella Man”
  • Embossing Folder – Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades “Gears”
  • Ranger Foil Cardstock
  • Paint color swatch
  • Border Punch – EK Success
  • Cardstock – BoBunny

I used the lesson on Day 1 of Creative Chemistry 102 (Online Card Classes) as a point of departure for the background for this card, using the “Industrial” technique. I embossed the foil cardstock after stamping the image, which was a departure from the lesson! I added a paint swatch for a kind of ombre accent along the side. Thanks for visiting today.

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 5 – Tarnished Silver Fern

cc102-Day5-TarnishedSilver-Fern

  • Die cut – made from Memory Box “Delicate Fern” die
  • Ranger Alcohol Inks – Wild Plum, Cool Peri, Eggplant, Silver Mixatives
  • Silver embossing powder
  • Clear UTEE
  • Ranger Distress Paint – Black Soot
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the tarnished silver technique from Creative Chemistry 102 at Online Card Classes for this card. It features a cut made with the gorgeous fern die from Memory Box and an alcohol ink panel. I based the color scheme on my son’s request for me to make a predominately purple card for the 365cards Pick4Me color challenge. Thanks for visiting today.

Unscripted Sketches #225 – Snowman

Unscripted_225_Snowman

  • Stamp – Darcie’s clear set “Merry and Bright”
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities – Standard Circles Large and Lacey Circles
  • Eyelets – Eyelet Outlet – Snowflake Quicklets
  • Washi Tape – Craft tape – JoAnn Stores
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – source unknown

Here is a Wintery card, perfect for Operation Write Home, using the Sketch #225 at Unscripted Sketches. The strips are made from Washi tape and I added some snowflake eyelets to compliment the scene. I hadn’t set an eyelet in a really long time!  The snowman is colored with Copic markers. Thanks for stopping by today.

Black, White and Blue Challenge

365-Sketch-Day276

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Painted Flower”
  • Patterned papers – KaiserCraft “Black & White Timeless” 6-!/2″ pad and Echo Park – “For the Record” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger “Broken China”

This is a great color scheme. The challenge for Day 276 at 365Cards was to create a card using black, white and blue. I tried to stay strictly with those colors, stamping the image in black ink on white and distressing the edges with blue ink. The patterned papers are also in those colors and the base card is a light blue. This will make a nice any occasion card for Operation Write Home. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Cupcake

freshlymade105

  • Stamp – from Penny Black “Loads of Love” set
  • Patterned papers – from My Mind’s Eye “Hootenanny” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – BoBunny Back to Backs (Brilliant Blue Dot)
  • Sakura Gelly Roll Pen – ClearStar
  • (Inside) Action Wobble Spring

This is a fun card for my niece’s birthday. Although it is difficult to see (I refrained from including a little video showing the boing action of the spring-y sentiment inside!), the sentiment on the interior of the card wobbles on a little spring. Since I’ve just taken a quick Online Card Classes Insider class, I’m trying to pay more attention to the innards of my cards. I’ve had these little springs, so I wanted to use one for this. Below is a photo of the inside sentiment. I used Sketch 105 at Freshly Made Sketches for my design inspiration, and added a little sparkle with the Gelly Roll pen on the main image and the dotted line border around it. Thanks for visiting today!

Wishing You Weren’t So Far Away

freshlymade104

  • Stamp -Simon Says Stamp! “Square Sayings”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park Paper “For the Record 2″ 6 X 6” paper pad
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug Anna Griffin “Poppy”
  • Rhinestones – Queen & Company
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Here is an Operation Write Home card that features pretty patterned papers, a nice textured background, and some healthy “white space” that showcases the other elements of the card. I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches (#104) for the basic design. This card is an example of using white space to draw the eye to the main design elements of this card, as described in Design Boot Camp at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. Since I tend toward simpler cards, I enjoy using white space as it can really give the eye a rest. Thanks for stopping by–I know it has been a while since I’ve posted. I’ll try to turn that around!

Clean & Simple – Sketch #258 – Steampunk Birthday

c&s258-stevebday

  • Paper – Steampunk image – Graphic45 “Steampunk Spells Collection”
  • Paper – Hat, Black Lace and Chevron patterns – Bazzill “Arsenic & Lace” collection
  • Paper – Orange – Basic Grey “Archaic: Rusty”
  • Game Spinners – Tim Holtz Idea-ology
  • Stamp – Hero Arts – Operation Write Home “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous Detail Silversteampunk-close-up

I made this card for my brother-in-law’s birthday. I used the Sketch #258 from Clean and Simple Stamping for inspiration. It was fun to use the image from the Graphic45 Steampunk paper as the focal point and then repeat some of the elements for an embellishment (you can see the embellishment more clearly in the close-up shot on the right). I embossed the sentiment so it was clearly visible on the darker patterned paper. Thanks for stopping by.
