Clean & Simple – Sketch 212 – Pumpkin Birthday

  • Stamps – pumpkins and foliage from Hampton Art Stamps/Graphic 45, “Happy Haunting 2” set
  • Sentiment stamp – Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned paper – We R Memory Keepers “Black Widow” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and Jennie Bowlen
  • Distress Markers – Ranger

I used Sketch #212 from Clean & Simple Stamping for this birthday card. It has a real Autumnal feeling to it. I combined three stamps from the Hampton Art set, masking one pumpkin behind the other. I colored them with Distress Markers and spritzed them, then went in with a water brush to do more watercoloring. Thanks for stopping by.

Packing Tape and Leaves Birthday Card

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “Leaves” clear mini stamps set and Penny Black “Flourish Birthday”
  • Pearl pen – Violet – Viva Decor
  • Alcohol inks and Distress inks – Ranger
  • Packing tape
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This was an incredibly well timed challenge! I was in the middle of playing with this packing tape technique when 365 Cards issued its Tape It Challenge! My stamping group was experimenting with this technique, which was featured in Craft Stamper magazine (October 2012 issue, pp. 38-39). We applied packing tape to an old dictionary page, ripping off small pieces and then taped the whole thing down to a piece of white cardstock. Then I applied Ranger alcohol inks to make a mottled, stone background. If you look very closely you can barely see the text mixed in with the background colors. The background is nice and shiny thanks to the tape. I then stamped the leaves in Distress ink on watercolor paper, spritzed with water and cut them out. I mounted the leaves on cardstock and popped them up with dimensional adhesive and then added the sentiment. I added the “pearls” in the top right corner with pearl pen. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH – Midweek Throwdown – Crocus Anniversary Card

  • Stamps – Flourishes “Calendar Set 1” and sentiment from Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Die cuts made from Nestabilities “Classic Ovals” and “Lacey Ovals”
  • Patterned Cardstock – BoBunny
  • Solid cardstock – Bazzill

I used a lovely crocus stamp from Flourishes for this card. I colored the image with Copic markers first, and then added colored pencil for highlights and additional shading. I layered the die cut ovals for an elegant look. This week’s Midweek Throwdown Challenge at OWH was to make an anniversary card, so this technique worked well for such a card. Thanks for visiting.

OWH Sketch #141 – Santa!

  • Stamps – from The Cat’s Pajamas “Candyland Christmas” set
  • Die cut – from Spellbinders Poseabilities “Snowflake Wonder”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Merry” 6 X 6” paper pad
  • Rhinestone – Mark Richards, Inc. – Citron Round 3mm
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

This is one of my first Christmas cards for Operation Write Home. We need to ship our Christmas cards early in order for our overseas heroes to send cards home for their families. This is a fun one with lots of color and Santa, so I’m hoping it is cheery for both the sender and the recipient! I used the sketch #141 at OWH Stars and Stamps and stamps from The Cats Pajamas. I colored the images with Copic markers. Thanks for stopping by!

Stampendous Daffodil

  • Stamp – Stampendous “Botanical Daffodil”
  • Corner punch – EK Success Corner Adourner
  • Patterned cardstock – BoBunny
  • Die cuts – Spellbinders Nestabilities
  • Pens – Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pens
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Gem – Mrs. Grossman’s “Accents Too!”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a wonderful Stampendous stamp made in the style of a botanical illustration. I colored the image with Sakura sparkle gel pens, inked the edges with ColorBox Chalk Ink and accented the card with ribbon. The October challenge at the Stampendous Blog is Fabulous Florals, so I think this fits the bill. I am giving this card to a friend of mine who recently broke her arm and needs a little cheering up. Have a great day today!

Accordion Fold Tulip Card

  • Stamp – from  Penny Black “Delicate Florals” set and Judikins “Calligraphic Flourish”
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Four”
  • Rhinestones – Me & My Big Ideas
  • Patterned cardstock – Bo Bunny “Passion Fruit Flourish”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I like fancy fold cards, but seldom take the time to make them. I had made a card like this and held onto it as a “template” so I could remember how to do it again! So I’m not sure if this particular accordion fold has a special name, but I call this an offset accordion fold! There is really nothing fancy about the process, but having an unusual fold does make the card seem kind of fancy. I stamped the Judikins flourishes all over the flourish cardstock to tie in some of the orange from the floral image. I colored the Penny Black tulip with Copic markers and used the larges die in my set for the image, so I had to trim the orange cardstock around it to give it a little frame and a little more weight both visually and to stand up to the folds. This is a birthday card for one of my stamping buddies. Thank you for stopping by today!

My 300th Post: 365 Cards – Day 210 – Do I Smell Cake?

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Smells Like Cake” clear set
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities – Classic Ovals and Lacey Ovals
  • Border punch – EK Success
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Lime Rickey” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Buttons – Buttons Galore and More – “Vintage Button Bonanza” and Stampin’ Up “Designer Brights Collection”
  • Flower punch – EK Success

Wow. It is sort of amazing that in a year and a half of having this blog, this is my 300th post! So that is 300 cards! Woo Hoo!

This challenge was to follow a specific recipe at 365 Cards for Day 210 for a Surprise Guest Spot. The recipe is:

4.25 x 5.5 card
1 Stamped image (digi or rubber)
5 buttons
3 different ribbons
1 patterned paper
Sentiment
The real challenge for me in following this recipe was the three different ribbons on one fairly small card. It is fun to follow a specific recipe and see what I can come up with. Thanks for stopping by!

OWH Sketch Challenge #139

  • Stamps – Hero Arts “Sweet Owls”
  • Patterned papers – MME “Reunion” collection
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Seventeen”
  • Large paper punches – Marvy Oval Mega and Giga Punches
  • Border punch – Martha Stewart
  • Embossing Folder – Sizzix “Bohemian Lace” set
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used Sketch #139 at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps to make this card. It was fun to use this owl set and kind of match up the colors with the papers. I colored the owl and branch with Copic markers and popped up the owl oval with dimensional adhesive. I rounded the top corners of the card base to repeat the rounded corners on the die cut. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

365 Cards Day 205 / CPS Sketch #284

  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Periphery” collection
  • Dimensional stickers – K&Company “Flora and Fauna Typewriter Keys”
  • Stamp – from the Stampin’ Up “Sincere Salutations” set
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card using the 365 Cards color challenge for Day 205. The challenge is to use these colors:

I decided to use the current sketch at Card Positioning Systems (CPS) for their challenge #284. The bird and egg typewriter keys steal the show on this card and tied into the color scheme well. Thanks for visiting.

OWH Sketch Challenge #138 – Polar Bear

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Snow” clear set and EK Success “Christmas” multi-stamp
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Figgy Pudding”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps sketch #138 for this card. It features a polar bear and snowflake from the Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Snow” clear stamp set. I colored the bear with Copic markers and layered the stamped elements with cardstock, popping up the polar bear. This is a very simple card that shows off the cute little bear. This will be a nice Christmas card to ship to OWH. It may be my first Christmas card of the season! Thanks for visiting today.
