Sympathy with Rose

Steve-sympathy

  • Rose die cut – K & Company Susan Winget Botanical Layered Accents
  • Stamp – My Sentiments Exactly
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and American Crafts
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Decorative Tile Set”
  • Border punch – EK Success “English Ivy”

I needed to make a sympathy card and thought using one of the floral die cuts I’d been saving would be a nice option. I tried to keep it simple with several layers with mostly solid color cardstock. Thanks for visiting today.

Freshly Made Sketches #124 – Thank You

fms-124-thankyou

  • Patterned papers – Heidi Grace “Sunshowers” 8 X 8″ paper pad
  • Stamp – Printworks “Thank You”
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Rhinestones – Queen & Company – Irredescent

I really liked this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches: #124. I used it to feature three different patterned papers from the same collection for this card. I edged the paper pieces with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to add a little definition to the edges. I am making a few Thank You cards for my Operation Write Home box, since that is a popular sentiment for the troops to use when sending a card. Thanks for visiting today.

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 5 – Tarnished Silver Fern

cc102-Day5-TarnishedSilver-Fern

  • Die cut – made from Memory Box “Delicate Fern” die
  • Ranger Alcohol Inks – Wild Plum, Cool Peri, Eggplant, Silver Mixatives
  • Silver embossing powder
  • Clear UTEE
  • Ranger Distress Paint – Black Soot
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the tarnished silver technique from Creative Chemistry 102 at Online Card Classes for this card. It features a cut made with the gorgeous fern die from Memory Box and an alcohol ink panel. I based the color scheme on my son’s request for me to make a predominately purple card for the 365cards Pick4Me color challenge. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop 2013

WCDstart

Welcome to my stop on the hop! This weekend we are celebrating World Card Making Day by sharing Thank You cards created especially for Operation Write Home (OWH). We’re making cards for the troops deployed overseas to send home to their friends and families.  Handmade cards can be quite a morale booster for our deployed men and women, and Thank You cards tend to be in demand for our heroes to send home.  If you’d like to learn more about OWH, click on the banner above or go to http://operationwritehome.org/starsandstamps. Now, for my card!

owh-wcmd-bloghop13

  • Stamps – Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates, Volume 2”
  • Patterned papers – Momenta “Botanicals” 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Die cut made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty Two”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic Markers

My card is based on OWH Sketch #115, shown below. The stamped image and sentiment are both from a set from Flourishes. I colored the Lily of the Valley with Copic markers and cut it out in an interesting shape, then popped it up with dimensional adhesive. The Thank You sentiment comes from the same Flourishes clear stamp set. The colors of this card are neutrals–not very flashy so that the eye goes straight to the floral image. Thanks for your visit and enjoy the other cards in the OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop!

Sketch Challenge #115

Black, White and Blue Challenge

365-Sketch-Day276

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Painted Flower”
  • Patterned papers – KaiserCraft “Black & White Timeless” 6-!/2″ pad and Echo Park – “For the Record” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger “Broken China”

This is a great color scheme. The challenge for Day 276 at 365Cards was to create a card using black, white and blue. I tried to stay strictly with those colors, stamping the image in black ink on white and distressing the edges with blue ink. The patterned papers are also in those colors and the base card is a light blue. This will make a nice any occasion card for Operation Write Home. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH – Midweek Throwdown: Friendship

owh-mwt-friends

  • Stamp – Hero Arts – “Live Life” set
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Come Away with Me” 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This week’s Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Midweek Throwdown challenge was to create Friendship cards. I showcased some pretty floral papers for this one and created a focal point with the sentiment. Hopefully it will cheer the recipient up a little. Thanks for visiting today.

Clean & Simple Sketch #252 – Hello!

c&s-252-Hello

Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye Collectable Collection “Notable – Love This – Devoted” and “Remarkable – Handsome – Adorable”

Flowers – Prima – Eire Floral Collection

Sentiment stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings” set

Border punch – Stampin Up “Scallop Edge”

Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

I just had to put together a card! It has been a full week since I’ve really done anything (or at least finished it) with paper! I liked playing with these patterned papers and this sketch. The sketch is the Clean & Simple #252. The color scheme is a little unusual for me, but I just used the multi-colored paper as my guide. Thanks for visiting today.

Another Summer Card Camp Card

summercardcamp2-wishbest

  • Die cuts – Simon Says Stamp/Memory Box: Outline Dahlia, Delicate Dahlia, Tilted Banners
  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp: Tilted Banner Sayings
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park: All About A Boy
  • Button embellishment – Heidi Grace Sunshower chipboard button
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Baker’s Twine – Doodlebug Designs

This was a fun card, even though it was a little bit of a stretch for me with the color scheme. It is another I made while taking the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2, which is nearing its end. I got some inspiration from one of the three card sketches offered this week and then selected one of the new color combos shared for us to play with this weekend. I used three different die cuts for this: two for the dahlia blossom and then another for the banner–all from Simon Says Stamp. All of the elements add up to a really brightly colored card! I added faux stitching (dots) around three sides and a little chipboard button in the flower’s center. Thanks for the visit.

Floral Thank You – 365 Cards Day 195

365-Sketch-Day195

  • Stamps – Avery Elle “Petals & Stems” and Inkadinkado “Expressions”
  • Dies – Spellbinders “Vintage Labels Three”
  • Patterned papers – Creative Imaginations “Christine Adolph: Boho” paper pad and Basic Grey “Out of Print” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Border punch – EK Success “Open Scallop”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

The design for this card was inspired by the Super Sketchy Sunday Sketch – Day 195. I stamped the flower stamp and leaves and added some lines with a fine-tip Micron pen, which brings out the black paper accents. I also added faux stitching around the smaller die cut and at the top and bottom borders to tie the elements together. Thanks for checking in.

Cardabilities Sketch #79 – Thank You

cardabilities_79_ThankYou

  • Die cuts – KaiserCraft “Secret Admirer Icons”
  • Stamp – Verve Stamps
  • Cardstock – BoBunny Turquoise Flourish and Bazzill Bling
  • Rhinestones – KaiserCraft and Michael Richards, Inc.

This card features the KaiserCraft Victorian-looking die cuts I picked up recently. I grouped together four different die cut images with the sentiment banner to create the focal point. I used Sketch #79 at Cardabilities for inspiration. Thanks for visiting today.
