Cupcakes for you

SS-Cupcakes4you

  • Stamps –
    • Impression Obsession MC181 “Cupcake”
    • Avery Elle “Oh Happy Day”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny Secret Garden Collection: Roses (both sides)
  • Markers – KaiserCraft metallic gel pens
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I’m doing a little catching up on cardmaking while I have a few days off. I’ve had this stamp set for a long time and it is always fun to pull something out of my stash. I decided to pick up on the roses on some of the cupcakes and repeat roses with the patterned paper. I colored the cupcakes with KaiserCraft gel pens that really work well with their 0.6mm tips for fine lines.

I created this card using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #250. Unfortunately, I forgot to link it over there until the deadline had passed! Oh well! I will be linking to The Paper Players current challenge, which is #309: Something Sweet. A group of stamping friends and I have been virtually getting together for two years, so we decided to make cupcake cards for the occasion and this is mine. Thanks for stopping by.

Hero Arts Orchids Scramble

ha-scramble-138

  • Stamps – Hero Arts – CL947 “Color Layering Large Orchid”
  • Ranger – Distress Crayons
  • Ranger – Distress Inks
  • Distress Watercolor cardstock
  • Bazzill cardstock – Bouquet
  • Neenah Solar White cardstock

I created this card for a 90-minute scramble #138 on the Hero Arts Flickr site. Our challenge was to use solid stamps and outline stamps together. I used Distress Crayons directly on the outline stamp and spritzed it with water. I did a similar watercolor technique for the solid stamps and stems, only using Distress Inks. I added some water splatters and the sentiment to finish off the image. I then adhered it with a strip of purple cardstock and popped the whole thing up with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for stopping by.

Hydrangea with tag

hydrangea-w-tag

  • Stamp and stencil set – Stampers Anonymous Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 “Hydrangea”
  • Die (Tag) – Simon Says Stamp “Medium Tags”
  • Stamp (Sentiment) – Simon Says Stamp “Happy & Smile” set
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Enchanted Garden”
  • Ranger Distress inks – Shaded Lilac, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Peeled Paint, and Crushed Olive
  • Embossing paste – translucent – Wendy Vecchi Studio 490
  • Sequins – Simon Says Stamp – Assorted Moonshine
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents “Lavender Twilight”

I created this card for my sister’s birthday. I had created a number of images with the hydrangea stamp and stencil set when I was demonstrating with them at Runaway Art and Craft Studio in Salem, Oregon. After I stamped and colored this image with Distress inks, I added some translucent embossing paste over the flowers to add some texture. I put the image together with a birthday tag colored with matching Distress ink and added some sequin sparkle. This Anything Goes card fits the Simon Says Stamp Blog Wednesday Challenge this week and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge, too. Thanks for visiting.

Freshly Cut – One Layer with Pencils

PB-FreshlyCut

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Freshly Cut”
  • Kraft paper card
  • Prismacolor colored pencils
  • Memories pigment ink pad “Unicorn”

I couldn’t wait to color this image! I felt that the image should be the focal point, so a clean and simple card is really appropriate. I couldn’t decide which media to try first and I stamped it out two different ways (the other is embossed onto watercolor paper, so a watercolor version will be coming!). I like the effect when coloring with pencil on a Kraft paper card, so that was the route I took here. I stamped with white ink and then colored with a simple pallette. The Penny Black and More Challenge is Anything Goes with a Stamp and the Penny Black Saturday Challenge this month is a One Layer Card, so this seemed to fit the bill. Thanks for visiting today.

June Garden – Thinking of You

ha-flickr-garden-thinkofyou

  • Stamp – Hero Arts K4897 “CardArt Flower Tapestry”
  • Patterned papers – Creative Imaginations “Bojo” and My Mind’s Eye “Indie Chic” (6″ X 6″ pads)
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Zig Clean Color watercolor markers
  • Watercolor paper – Strathmore 140# cold press

I created this card in less than 90 minutes for a challenge at the Hero Arts Flickr Group. I’m mentioning this mainly because the time period is quite a big challenge for me, since I am pretty methodical when I’m designing a card. Periodically we (in this Flickr group) have a timed card making challenge called a Scramble (we have to make the card and post it to the group within that time frame) and this morning we had one with a theme of Summer Fun. Since gardening goes hand-in-hand with summer here in the Pacific Northwest, I selected this older wood-mount stamp from my Hero Arts stash. This card is also fitting for the Simon Says Stamp Blog Monday Challenge: Summer Garden. Thanks for stopping by.

Watercolor Sympathy Card

freesia_sympathy-brett

  • Stamps – Altenew – Fresh Freesia
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug – Kassie’s Brocade
  • Zig Clean Color watercolor markers
  • Cardstock – BoBunny Violet Dot and Paper Accents Lavender Twilight

I stamped this pretty freesia on watercolor paper and colored it with Zig markers and a waterbrush. After I was finished watercoloring, I stamped the sentiment which is from the same Altenew clear stamp set. I used my Misti to get a nice, dark image. I’m a big fan of that tool! I wanted the card to be simple and elegant, so I used an embossed layer and offset it a bit to make the brocade embossing more visible. The Addicted to CAS challenge #89 – Petals is a current challenge and this is pretty clean and simple, so I’ll toss my hat in the ring. Thanks for stopping by.

Fuschia Sympathy Card

fushcia-sympathy card

  • Stamps –
    • Technique Tuesday “Greenhouse Society: Fuschia”
    • Avery Elle “Oh Happy Day”
  • Dies –
    • Technique Tuesday “Greenhouse Society: Fuschia”
    • Simon Says Stamp – “Stitched Rectangles”
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous – Violet
  • Sequins – Simon Says Stamp – Assorted Moonshine
  • Ribbon
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and WorldWin

I enjoyed using my Zig Clean Color markers and waterbrush to watercolor this fuschia image. I popped up the die cut fuchsia on layers of cardstock, adding a few sequins around the flowers. I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #235 as inspiration for this card. Thanks for stopping by.

Columbines and Dots

SS-techtues-columbines

  • Stamp – Technique Tuesday – Greenhouse Society Series: Columbine
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities – Labels Twenty
  • Border Punch – EK Success – Swiss Cheese
  • Cardstock – BoBunny Double Dot – Paprika and Orange Citrus

I colored this image with Sakura Glaze pens and added accent dots with a white gel pen. I created this card for a polka dot challenge, so I went a little crazy with the dotted cardstock and the border punch with lots of dots. We have columbines blooming around here in the summer, so I really like this image. Thanks for visiting.

Craft Stamper – Thinking of You

pp-287-thinkofyou

  • Stamps –
    • Visible Image – from Flower INKcognito set (free stamp on April Craft Stamper)
    • Hero Arts – sentiment from CL738 Messages with Flourish set
  • Cardstock – Neenah Solar White
  • Inks – Ranger Distress inks: Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac and Salty Ocean

This card is a quintessential clean and simple one! The flower image, from Visible Image, was the freebie on the cover of the April Craft Stamper magazine. I applied the Distress Ink to the clear stamp that I had mounted on my new Misti with a sponge applicator tool. The Misti allowed me to keep the stamp positioned and apply as much ink additional ink as I wanted. This was a great help in planning for this card. The Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge for March is Anything Goes, so this seems quite appropriate for that!  I’m also submitting this to the Paper Players Challenge #287 – Celebrate Spring. It has been nice to have a little extra time to create during the last few days!  Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #440

mojo440-violets

  • Stamp – Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1”
  • Die – Spellbinders for Flourishes “Tailor-Made Classic Bookplate”
  • Border punch – EK Success “Scallop Diamond” edger punch
  • Twine – Little B – Naturals
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Secret Garden: Secret Garden Roses”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

For this card I colored the image with Zig Clean Color markers and blended the colors with a water brush. I chose Mojo Monday Sketch #440 to showcase the violets on the bookplate die-cut. I wrapped the background with some natural colored twine to bring out the light color of the trim in the image, tying it all together visually (so to speak!). Thanks for visiting.
