This is a fun card I made with a Valentine set I’ve had in my stash for a while, but I’d never used this particular stamp before! I colored the image with Copics and layered it with some patterned papers I also pulled out. I heat-embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock and layered it all up. I created this card for a challenge a small group of cardmaking friends had recently to “put a bird on it.” You know, when in doubt, put a bird on it. So it was fun to put this together and color the animals and their accessories with Copic markers and stack them. I’m trying to use up some of my patterned paper in my stash (not so successfully because there is a lot of it, but its all so pretty!). The Valentine season is approaching and who better to provide helpful advice, but the TCP bunny! I colored him with Copics, fussy cut him, then placed him on the die-cut layers with dimensional adhesive. I drew a dash-dot-dash line around the square layers and popped the sentiment on top. I’m helping a friend put together a box of cards to send to a military unit so they can send cards home to their friends and family, similar to what we used to do for Operation Write Home. I created this card using a variety of items I’ve accumulated, both old and new. I’m challenging myself to use (and hopefully use-up!) things in my stash. I always make a few New Year’s cards to send to people who I didn’t quite get Christmas cards mailed to in time. I created the background for this one by combining three different Distress Oxide inks. I really like the calligraphic Inky Antics stamp and embossing it in gold seemed appropriate for New Year’s. I really enjoyed making this card because I got to combine all of the colorful strips of paper together. All of that pattern plays nicely together when it is separated by the black barriers! This is a great sketch. I added a few stars die-cut from gold metallic cardstock to make the sentiment a bit more festive.

I created the background for this card with a napkin, which I adhered to a piece of cardstock with Mod Podge Sparkle. It gave it a nice touch of bling and when it was dry I trimmed to fit the card base. Following the line on the background design, I adhered the bead trim. I stamped the sentiment and layered it on another die-cut that contrasted and is a larger dimension. I then outlined the edges of both die-cuts with metallic gold ink. I colored the raccoon and star, and popped them on top of the sentiment with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for visiting.

I started this card by creating a background with Distress Oxide ins, layering colors and spritzing with water. Once I was satisfied, I applied the sparkly Snowflake Paste through a stencil so that the stars covered the background. The Snowflake Paste is really effective in creating an interesting background with a subtle sparkle. You can get an idea of the effect the close-up featured in the photo below.
I then added the die-cuts and sequins, layering the papers to create the card using inspiration from the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Thanks for stopping by.

I worked on these tags over quite an extensive period of time: layering, drying, analyzing… They were a lot of fun to make though. I cut the tags from a Tim Holtz die set that I’ve had for years and comes in handy because I can make lots of different sizes with it. I made backgrounds on the larger two tags using Distress Oxide inks in blues. Then I added torn butterflies from the napkin applying them with gel medium.
Because I was layering the tag pairs, I added more details on the smaller ones as they would be most visible. I started by collaging torn dictionary paper and Tim Holtz tissue wrap with gel medium onto the gessoed tag surface. I then applied texture paste through stencils. Once that was dry, I layered Distress Oxide ink (Worn Lipstick) over the top and distressed the edges of the small tags with the Tonic Studios paper distressing tool. I added some spritzes of Perfect Pearls mist to add some sheen.
I used more Distress Inks for the butterfly layers, the base layer in blues and Worn Lipstick and the top layer with Black Soot. I then die-cut the black layer and placed it over the base layer so just the center of the body was attached and the wings stick up. I colored the white ribbon with distress ink for a perfect match and tied the two tags together.
