I’m enjoying the Creative Chemistry 102 Online Card Classes class this week. For Day Two, I creative this tag by layering many types of Distress inkiness. This stamp set is one of my favorite butterfly sets. This is a great class and there are so many techniques to try! Thanks for visiting.

- Stamps – Layers of Color Art Stamps “Flutterescent” set (butterflies) and Printworks “Thank You”
- Patterned papers – from Fancy Pants “Country Boutique” Paper Pad
- Cardstock – BoBunny
- Bling – Kaiser Pearls and Mark Richards Crystal Stickers
This is a clean and simple card. I stamped the butterflies on a tone on tone patterned paper and attached the panel with dimensional adhesive. I then popped up the sentiment banner and also have it extending past the card base for a little more visual interest. The sketch I used was from a pre-class challenge at Online Card Classes for Summer Card Camp 2. I’m excited that this “camp” will be beginning in a little over a week. These classes are always top-notch! Thanks for stopping by today.

This was a fun challenge for the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Midweek Throwdown this past week. We had a Tic Tac Toe game and had to choose a “row” of elements to make a card. I chose Embossing, Blue and Ribbon. I colored the image with Copic markers and mounted it on an embossed background. Then I tied it up in a bow. Thanks for stopping by.

- Stamps – Hampton Art Stamps “Kewpie Doll,” Stamper’s Anonymous “P5-1072 Dotted Wings” and “G3-1056 Splendid Adventure,” and Crafty Individuals “Decorative Diamonds”
- Template – Crafter’s Workshop “Botanicals”
- Inks – Ranger Distress Inks
- Ranger Perfect Pearls
- Vellum
My local stamp store, Stampin’ Cat Studio in Salem, Oregon, is no more. It is a sad time for many of us who have been shopping there and enjoying the sense of crafting community for the past 10-plus years. But as the store celebrated some great times this past Thursday, many of us made 6″ X 6″ pages to put into a memory book for Lisa, Stampin’ Cat’s owner. This page was the one I created for her. I used Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls, along with a plastic template, lots of water and some stamps from my stash. The Perfect Pearls provide a nice sheen (which is not evident in this photo unfortunately!). I stamped the butterfly wings onto vellum for translucent wings to help Kewpie fly! I’m quite sure that all of the supplies I used to create this were purchased at Lisa’s shop. Cheers, Lisa! Here’s to a Splendid Adventure! I wish you well! Thanks for visiting today.

- Image stamp – Stampington & Co. “Ledger Butterfly”
- Sentiment stamp – Hero Arts “Mother’s Day Message”
- Patterned paper – SEI “Couture: Tabaret”
- Border punch – EK Success “Dotted Scallop”
- Cardstock – Bazzill
- Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Seeing Spots”
- Ranger Distress markers
- Watercolor paper
This is my first Mother’s Day card of the year for Operation Write Home (OWH). I like to make lots of Mother’s Day cards for the troops to send home. I think it is especially important that they have a good supply to choose from. This week on OWH Stars and Stamps blog, we had another installment of OWH Design Bootcamp: Get to the Point: Creating a Strong Focal Point. The lesson was about creating a strong focal point on your cards. So using the information supplied in Paula’s lesson, I created this card with a strong focal point: the butterfly. Yes, another butterfly! The butterfly image is the largest element on the card; it is layered with a darker, contrasting color beneath it; and the watercolor technique used draws the eye in because of the textures and blended colors used. I applied ink directly to the rubber stamp with Ranger Distress Markers and then spritzed the inked stamp with water before stamping on the watercolor paper. Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you’re enjoying the Operation Write Home President’s Day Weekend Virtual Cardmaking Party (VCMP). Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a card featuring something with wings! There are lots of possibilities there! Please make a card featuring Things with Wings and post it in the InLinkz below!
Now for my offerings:

- Stamp – Inkadinkado “Sleepy Owl”
- Die cuts – made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
- Patterned paper – KaiserCraft “Hunt and Gather” paper pad
- Baker’s Twine – Doodlebug Design Inc. – Tangerine
- Gems – Darice – Earth tones
- Ranger Distress Ink – Dried Marigold, Dried Sage, Scattered Straw, Walnut Stain
- Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny
- Kraft paper
This card features an owl-y thing with wings! I added color to the edges of the image and the patterned paper with Distress Inks. I kind of made this sketch up, but I’m sure it is similar to many others! The card features baker’s twine and the sparkle of some “gems” for a little visual interest and that’s it!
And another, that includes a little science experiment!

- Stamps – Hero Arts “Sweet Butterflies”
- Avery mailing label
- Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Little Black Dress” collection
- Cardstock – Bazzill
- Black embossing powder
- Edger punch – Martha Stewart “Garden Rail”
I used a technique I learned in the January issue of Craft Stamper magazine for this card. Basically, you take a mailing label, peel off the backing, apply embossing powder on the sticky side and heat emboss. It makes an interesting, crackle background. It is a quick and easy technique that is pretty unexpected. Then I cut out the butterfly images that I stamped and colored with Ranger Distress markers. I put all the pieces together and had a card! Thanks for visiting today! Enjoy the party! This link will get you back to the VCMP’s master thread.
Candy!
And if you’d like to try for a little blog candy, please leave a comment and a random winner will be selected on Tuesday! You could win these stamps to help you create more Things with Wings!

- Washi tape – Queen & Co. and We R Memory Keepers
- Die cut – made with Spellbinder’s Shapeabilities “Butterflies” (embossed areas colored with ColorBox Fluid Chalk inks)
- Stamp – Rubber Soul
- Ink – Tsukineko Delicata “Golden Glitz” ink pad
- Cardstock – Bazzill
I made the background for this card with rows of Washi tape, which was a part of one of my lessons in the Clean & Simple 2 class I’m finishing up at Online Card Classes. The effect it creates looks like patterned paper. I popped up the die cut butterfly with dimensional adhesive, after coloring the embossed areas with chalk ink and a sponge dauber. A very simple, yet cheery, card! Thanks for visiting today.

- Background stamp – Penny Black “Damask”
- Butterfly stamp and die – Hampton Art Stamps and Spellbinders “Butterflies”
- Pearls – Queen and Company and Kaiser Craft
- Patterned paper – SEI “Field Notes”
- Inks – Ranger Adirondak Lights “Cloudy Blue” and Distress Inks and markers in Peeled Paint, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Mulled Lavendar, and Dusty Concord
I was inspired to create this card based on the Clean and Simple 2 class I’m currently taking on Online Card Classes. The instructor for this technique was Shari Carroll. I created the background using shipping labels stamped with my background stamp, cut-up, and then off-set. I colored the butterfly stamped image with Distress markers and edged with Distress ink. More Distress ink was added to the background with the pearls. This was a very fun technique to try and the Penny Black stamp is really beautiful. Thanks for stopping by.
