Watercolor Wreath

  • Stamps – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection: Winter Watercolor and Festive Overlay
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny – Once Upon A Lifetime collection
  • Paper Accents Mirror Paper – green
  • Marvy LePlume II markers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops – silver
  • Red “pearls”
  • Embossing powder – silver
  • Ribbon

I just finished teaching a class featuring this and two more cards using these stamp sets and a watercolor technique. The watercolor is done using Marvy LePlume II markers direct to rubber and then spritzed with water. Wreath-building is very popular among stampers currently. For this card, I simply penciled in a circle and stamped the greens around it using different marker colors and stamps. It feels just like the process one undertakes when actually creating a wreath for the front door–only quicker! Once the stamping was all complete, I added a few silver Nuvo Crystal Drops for a little shine in a view areas on the wreath. Finally I added a sentiment in the center of the wreath and gave it some more shine with silver heat embossing, plus a bow on top. I should probably put a real wreath up now! Thanks for stopping by.

Warm Holiday Wishes

  • Stamps – Memory Box “Snow Much Fun” set
  • Dies –
  • Memory Box “Snow Much Fun” set
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Seventeen”
  • Patterned papers – Pebbles “Holly Jolly” collection
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock  Bazzill

This was a fun card to make, although pretty busy visually! I stamped these cute critters from Memory Box and colored them with Copic markers, then cut them out with the matching dies to make life easier! I used inspiration from the card sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for the design, inking the edges of the background pieces to try to separate them a little from each other visually. A happy card with cute animals! What could be better? Thanks for stopping by!

Snowflake for the Holidays

  • Die – Sizzix/Tim Holtz – Flurry #2
  • Stamp – Lawn Fawn – Simply Winter Sentiments
  • Watercolors – Windsor & Newton
  • Silver mirror cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card based on inspiration from Day 2 of Online Card Classes Clean & Simply Holiday class. You need to take the class to get all of the steps, but it was fun to get back with my watercolors again and a technique I learned long ago in college. I layered the watercolored panel onto a shiny piece of silver cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment for a bit of gloss and sheen. Thanks for stopping by.

Raccoon Greetings of the Season

  • Stamps –
    • Lawn Fawn “Forest Feast” and “Cheery Christmas”
    • Penny Black “Christmas Cheer” (sentiment)
  • Background – Paper napkin – Michel Design Works “Candy Cane”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty”
  • Gold bead trim
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Metallic gold pen
  • Copic markers
  • Mod Podge Sparkle

I created the background for this card with a napkin, which I adhered to a piece of cardstock with Mod Podge Sparkle. It gave it a nice touch of bling and when it was dry I trimmed to fit the card base.  Following the line on the background design, I adhered the bead trim. I stamped the sentiment and layered it on another die-cut that contrasted and is a larger dimension. I then outlined the edges of both die-cuts with metallic gold ink. I colored the raccoon and star, and popped them on top of the sentiment with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for visiting.

Freshly Made Snowman

  • Stamps –
    • Stampers Anonymous The Art of Brett Weldele “Blizzy the Happy Snowman”
    • Fancy Pants Designs  “Merry & Bright”
  • Stencil – Creative Expressions mini stencil “Snowflakes”
  • Texture paste – Finnabair Art Extravagance Snowflake Paste
  • Inks – Ranger Distress Oxides: Cracked Pistachio, Faded Jeans, Broken China
  • Sprays – Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
  • Sequins – Hero Arts Frost Sequin Mix
  • Vellum – Paper Accents “Light Blue”
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous “Aqua”
  • Cardstock – Kaisercraft KaiserCard “Neptune”

This card started out with Distress Oxide inks with the addition of Snowflake Paste through the snowflake stencil. I stamped the snowman and added some color with Copic markers, cut it out and adhered it to the background with dimensional adhesive. I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and sprayed another scrap of white cardstock with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, cutting it in a strip and adhering it behind the background. I then wrapped the vellum around the snowman and background. To finish off the card, I added the festive sequins in threes above and below the main image. I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration. Thanks for stopping by.

Joyful Snowflake Card

  • Dies –
    • Sizzix Thinlets Tim Holtz Alterations “Paper Snowflakes”
    • Penny Black “Love & Joy”
  • Stencil – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Starry”
  • Texture paste – Finnabair Art Extravagance Snowflake Paste
  • Inks – Ranger Distress Oxides: Cracked Pistachio, Faded Jeans, Broken China
  • Sequins – Simon Says Stamp “Moonshine”
  • Cardstock

I started this card by creating a background with Distress Oxide ins, layering colors and spritzing with water. Once I was satisfied, I applied the sparkly Snowflake Paste through a stencil so that the stars covered the background. The Snowflake Paste is really effective in creating an interesting background with a subtle sparkle. You can get an idea of the effect the close-up featured in the photo below.

I then added the die-cuts and sequins, layering the papers to create the card using inspiration from the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Thanks for stopping by.

White on White Snowflakes

    • Impression Obsession – Snowflakes Die Set
  • Sequins – Simon Says Stamp – Moonshine
  • Ink – Ranger Ink Distress ink – Tumbled Glass
  • Cardstock – Neenah Solar White
  • Zig Wink of Stella clear brush pen

I created this simple, almost completely white card for a wintery Christmas card. I die cut snowflakes and the sentiment from white cardstock, cutting two of each and layering each pair together so the dimension would make them stand up and out on the white background a little more clearly. I edged the card front with light blue ink and mounted it on a white card base. I applied clear sparkly ink to the snowflakes with the Wink of Stella pen and added some iridescent clear sequins to accentuate the wintery look. Thanks for stopping by.

Have a Cool Yule!

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Penguin Christmas” and “Polar Holiday” (sentiment)
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Jovial” collection and American Crafts “North Pole” collection
  • Embossing Powder – Ranger Ink Wendy Vecchi “Red Geranium”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic markers
  • Sakura Glaze pens

Some of my cardmaking friends alerted me to a request that had been made by a 9-year old boy from Maine with cancer who wants to celebrate Christmas early this year. What he really wants are Christmas cards from all over the United States. The detail that really caught my attention is that he loves penguins! I was anxious to grant him his wish and mail him a handmade card from the other side of the country. Hopefully all of the holiday mail he is receiving is bringing him many smiles.

I went back into my stash to create this card! I’ve had these stamp sets for years! The patterned papers are not new either. I stamped the penguins and colored the image with Copic markers. I added some sparkle and shine with a couple different Glaze pens, but that effect is hard to detect in my photo unfortunately. The sentiment is heat-embossed with the bright red powder and adds some more shine.

Thanks for stopping by.

TCP Tuesday Challenge #340 – Peace, Joy and Penguins

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas K-3795 CL “Peace, Joy and Penguins”
  • Die – The Cat’s Pajamas “Holiday Toppers 041”
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Stickers – Silver metal 3mm Mark Richards Enterprises
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling and Paper Accents Mirror Silver

Most of my holiday cards feature penguins–that’s just the way I am. And my very favorite penguins are from The Cat’s Pajamas. They are the cutest and they seem to have a little attitude that sets them apart! For this card I stamped the penguins and colored them with Copics. Then I used the Holiday Toppers snowflake die to set a cool mood and added the sentiment below the stack o’ penguins. Thanks for visiting.

Challenge – TCP Tuesday Challenge #340 – Sparkle. I started out with sparkly cardstock and then added the silver mirror snowflakes and silver metal stickers for some shine.
