OWH Midweek Throwdown: The Nature of Christmas – Polar Bear

owh-mwt-natureofchristmas

  • Stamp – The Cat’s Pajamas “Knut” and “Cool Yule”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Merry” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Die cuts – Impression Obsession – Snowflakes Die Set; Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Gemstone – Hero Arts “Citron”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I can think of few things better than having animals on one’s Christmas cards. Just my opinion. So this week’s Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is to create a Christmas card  featuring something from nature. You can see where I immediately jumped. The Cat’s Pajamas always makes outstanding animal stamps–of course, they are often penguins which make them even more outstanding! I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Glossy Accents to the little fishing hole to make it look like water. The snowflake die cut is to convince you that it is cold there! Thanks for checking this out today!

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 3 – Brayered Stains Mona Tag

cc102-Day3-BrayeredStains-Mona

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Mona Collage”
  • Ranger Distress Stains – Pumice Stone, Dried Marigold, Shabby Shutters, Brushed Pewter
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Walnut Stain, Dried Marigold

I created this tag for a lesson at the Online Card Classes Creative Chemistry 102 class using Distress Stains. Out of all the Distress products, I think I use the stains the least. They really make a nice, more sheer background to layer upon. I added some more ink around the edges with my foam applicator to finish off the piece. Thanks for visiting!

Creative Chemistry 102 Day 4 – Alcohol Ink Monoprint #1

cc102-day4-mono-butterflies

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection – “Papillon”
  • Ranger Alcohol Inks – Wild Plum, Lettuce, Denim, and Silver Mixative
  • Inkssentials Craft Tag

I created this tag using the Alcohol Ink Monoprint technique in the Online Card Classes Creative Chemistry 102 class, taught by Tim Holtz. The background has some nice sheen to it from the silver mixative, so when you turn it into the light you can see the colors merge and shine. Such a fun class! Thanks for stopping by.

I’m enjoying the Creative Chemistry 102 Online Card Classes class this week. For Day Two, I creative this tag by layering many types of Distress inkiness. This stamp set is one of my favorite butterfly sets. This is a great class and there are so many techniques to try! Thanks for visiting.

Creative Chemistry Day1 – Eroded Metallic Tag

Eroded-Metallic-DayOneCC102

  • Background – Distress Paint in Broken China, Bundled Sage, Chipped Sapphire, Forest Moss, and Antique Bronze
  • Overstamped with Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamps – “Falling Leaves” and “Reflections”
  • Tim Holtz idea-ology Alpha Tiles
  • Tim Holtz idea-ology Paper String
  • Ranger “Library Green” and “Jet Black” archival ink

This was my first tag made during the Creative Chemistry 102 class at Online Card Classes.  I tried out the Eroded Metallic technique for the background. I used green archival ink, which seemed to add to the patina effect I was going for. I popped up the letter tiles with dimensional adhesive and tied it up with string! Enjoy your day!

OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop 2013

WCDstart

Welcome to my stop on the hop! This weekend we are celebrating World Card Making Day by sharing Thank You cards created especially for Operation Write Home (OWH). We’re making cards for the troops deployed overseas to send home to their friends and families.  Handmade cards can be quite a morale booster for our deployed men and women, and Thank You cards tend to be in demand for our heroes to send home.  If you’d like to learn more about OWH, click on the banner above or go to http://operationwritehome.org/starsandstamps. Now, for my card!

owh-wcmd-bloghop13

  • Stamps – Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates, Volume 2”
  • Patterned papers – Momenta “Botanicals” 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Die cut made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty Two”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic Markers

My card is based on OWH Sketch #115, shown below. The stamped image and sentiment are both from a set from Flourishes. I colored the Lily of the Valley with Copic markers and cut it out in an interesting shape, then popped it up with dimensional adhesive. The Thank You sentiment comes from the same Flourishes clear stamp set. The colors of this card are neutrals–not very flashy so that the eye goes straight to the floral image. Thanks for your visit and enjoy the other cards in the OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop!

Black, White and Blue Challenge

365-Sketch-Day276

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Painted Flower”
  • Patterned papers – KaiserCraft “Black & White Timeless” 6-!/2″ pad and Echo Park – “For the Record” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger “Broken China”

This is a great color scheme. The challenge for Day 276 at 365Cards was to create a card using black, white and blue. I tried to stay strictly with those colors, stamping the image in black ink on white and distressing the edges with blue ink. The patterned papers are also in those colors and the base card is a light blue. This will make a nice any occasion card for Operation Write Home. Thanks for stopping by.
