Hey there, Pumpkin!

  • Stamps – Newton’s Nook Designs “Newton’s Boo-tiful Night”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Bewitched” and “Halloween Magic” collections
  • Die – Little B – Circles
  • Sequins – Hero Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I stamped several Newton’s Nook images out recently for Halloween cards. The images are so cute! I colored this one with Copic markers and fussy-cut it out. I have so many fun Halloween papers, I just got some out and started playing with ideas. I decided on the plaid background and then I wanted some dots for contrast. I like repeating the dots/circles, so I added a circle die-cut and round sequins for some more interest. I kind of like the design I ended up with, so I may need to remember it for future cards!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies:

  • Newton’s Nook Designs – Newton Loves Coffee
  • Doodlebug Design Inc. – Party Time 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Ranger Distress Ink – Wild Honey (for edging)
  • Copic markers
  • Foam adhesive

A group of my online cardmaking friends had a challenge this weekend to make coffee cards. This was the stamp set I thought of and one of my favorite stamps. Newton the cat is just so cute in this stamp! Those who know me well, know that I enjoy a couple of cups of coffee in the morning. I’ve never been a morning person, but I can cope with caffeine!

For this card, I colored my image with Copic markers to pick up on the Inky Paws challenge color palette (yellow, orange, green and white) in the current Inky Paws challenge and then found some cute patterned papers in my stash to match. I cut “inchies” from the papers and arranged them and popped them up to create a simple design, which is what I’m drawn to. I inked the edges of every element with Wild Honey Distress Ink to bring it all together.

Below you can see the dimension I created with foam adhesive.

Newton’s Kitty with Birthday Cupcake

  • Stamps – Newton’s Nook Designs – Newton Loves Cake
  • Die – Hero Arts Infinity Dies – Hexagons
  • Patterned paper – Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunchine Remix: Stella Remix
  • Cardstock
  • Embellishments – Doodlebug Sprinkles – Ladybug

I participated in the *virtual* Crop on the Cape, hosted by Jenn Shurkus, last weekend. I always enjoy Jenn’s “Creative Chick” online classes and am always happy to support creative small businesses who have certainly been impacted during the last year. I highly recommend her classes. There were lots of demos and challenges during the three days which made it lots of fun. I created this card for one of the challenges that was based on a color scheme and group of photos for inspiration. I had this Newton’s Nook stamp set in my stash and decided to use the current sketch provided for the Inky Paws Challenge on the Newton’s Nook blog to make some birthday happiness.

I colored the kitty and cupcake with Copic markers. The Happy Birthday sentiment is part of the same stamp set, along with some other cute images and sentiments. I kept the card simple with just a little dimension added to the hexagon and some epoxy stickers (I love that shiny texture on a card!) to finish it off. Thanks for visiting.

Cat in the Box!

  • Stamp and Die – Newton’s Nook “Purr-fect Present”
  • Stencil – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection – Diamond Dot Layering Stencil
  • Embossing Powder – Gina K – Champagne
  • Mini Action Wobbles – Art Impressions
  • Ribbon
  • Glitter Cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Cardstock

I created this following the sketch for this month’s Inky Paws Challenge 111 on the Newton’s Nook blog. I really liked the layout of this sketch so when I saw it I knew I had to make a card! I colored the kitty with Copic markers and heat embossed some green cardstock with gold embossing powder for some elegant pattern. The really fun thing about this is that I attached an Action Wobble to the cat–so he wiggles! See below for a wiggly video! The small things in life make me happy!

I’ll be teaching how to make this card in early December at Runaway Art and Craft Studio, along with two other Christmas cards. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Masked Valentines?

  • Stamps –
    • Newton’s Nook – Raccoon Rascals
    • Lawn Fawn – Happy Happy Happy Add-on
  • Stencil – Newton’s Nook – Tree Rings
  • Dies –
    • Mama Elephant – Heart Border
    • Elizabeth Craft Designs – Entwined Hearts
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents and BoBunny
  • Copic Markers
  • Distress Ink – Walnut Stain
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Ribbon – May Arts

This was a fun card to make, partly because of the subject matter (more cute animals!) and also because I pulled out supplies from multiple companies. It is fun to mix it up sometimes. It was way too difficult to resist making a raccoon Valentine for my mom. Many people don’t know this, but she has several friends who are raccoons.

I started by coloring the raccoon image with Copic markers and fussy cutting it. I made the tree stump (slice?) by applying Distress Ink through a stencil and cutting it out, then using it for a backdrop. I assembled the various elements, finishing with the sentiment and tying a ribbon at the top. Thanks for stopping by.

Wood You Be Mine?

  • Stamps – Art Impressions – Valentine Critters Set
  • Die – AlteNew – Pierced Mat Die
  • Stencil – Newton’s Nook – Tree Rings
  • Patterned paper – Photoplay – Thief of Hearts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling and BoBunny

I made this Valentine for my son, who is an Oregon State University student (and they’re the Beavers–Go Beavs!). He is a fan of cute animals, so this is right up his alley–and mine! I colored the beaver image with Copic markers and emulated the heart motif in the patterned paper in the heart he is clutching. The tree stump is created by applying Distress ink through a stencil. This was a fun card to piece together! Thanks for stopping by.

Piles of pumpkins and kitties

  • Stamps – Newton’s Nook – Newton’s Pumpkin Patch
  • Patterned paper – Authentique – Nightfall Seven
  • Embossing powder – Ranger Wendy Vecchi – Orange Blossom
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic markers
  • Ranger Distress inks: Carved Pumpkin, Peeled Paint and Hickory Smoke

This is a pretty adorable image of the kitties among the pumpkins by Newton’s Nook. Their animal designs are some of my favorites! I colored the image with Copic markers and trimmed it out so no white was showing. I inked the edges with a black Sharpie to cover any white paper edges. The sentiment is heat embossed, adding a little shine to the words. I trimmed the sentiment flag-style. Before I adhered the foreground, I applied some Distress inks to the patterned paper, beginning with Hickory Smoke and then adding Peeled Paint ink for a colorful shadow beneath the image. I popped up the image with dimensional adhesive and then edged the panel with Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink. Thanks for visiting today.

Raccoon Surprises

  • Stamps – Newton’s Nook “Raccoon Rascals”
  • Embossing folder- Darice “Birch Tree”
  • Die – Just Rite Custom Dies “Vintage Labels Two”
  • Button – Prima Wood Buttons
  • Patterned paper – Ella & Viv Paper Company “Oxidation”
  • Core’dinations cardstock
  • Bazzill cardstock
  • Copic markers

I am behind in posting here. I made this card some time ago. I created the background by using an embossing folder and then sanding the paper to make the embossed tree trunk images stand out. I colored the stamped raccoons with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment, that came from the same stamp set as the raccoons, and die-cut it. I’ve had the button in my stash for years, and I thought it fit this card very well. It was really fun putting this card together. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Birthday with Maxx

  • Stamps – Newton’s Nook, “Newton’s Birthday Balloons”
  • Dies – Newton’s Nook, “Newton’s Birthday Balloons”
  • Patterned papers – Doodlebug Designs, Inc. “Kite Strings” and “Evening Garden”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic markers

I colored this kitty (stamp and dies from Newton’s Nook) so that it looked like our cat Maxx. He has mostly white fur on his paws, but there are a couple of black spots mixed in on the bottom of his back feet. He also has what looks like a skunk stripe running down his belly, but I digress! This was a very clean and simple card, using some of my stash of patterned paper. Love this cat stamp and matching dies. The cloud dies also came with the set. Thanks for stopping by.
