Another Squirrely Birthday

allyn-bday

  • Dies – Impression Obsession “Squirrel Set”
  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Joy to the Woods” (tree) and Impression Obsession “Vertical Greetings”
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park “Here and Now”
  • Distress Inks – Ranger – Walnut Stain, Weathered Wood, and Black Soot
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

When I first laid eyes on these squirrels, I could hardly stand it! I decided I wanted to color the squirrel die cuts and the stamped tree myself, rather than using colored paper. I cut the squirrels out of white cardstock and applied Distress Inks to get the desired colors. Then I stamped the tree trunks with brown ink, fussy cut them and then also applied Distress Inks to them. I popped up the squirrels with dimensional adhesive so they look like they are perched and climbing as squirrels would–very 3-D. It is tradition for me to make a squirrel birthday card for a friend, so this is what I came up with. Thanks for visiting today.

TCP Tuesday – The Sky’s the Limit

catspj-bunnyballoon

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Away We Go” set
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Patterened paper – Echo Park Paper “Everyday Eclectic: Hexagons”
  • Enamel dots – Doodlebug Designs “Limeade”
  • Pearls – Hero Arts “Foliage”

This card is for The Cat’s Pajamas Tuesday Challenge #272. This week’s theme is to use Mint Green, Navy Blue and Lemon Yellow in a card. I colored the bunny image with Copic markers and fussy cut it so it could stand out on the navy die cut. I accented the elements with minty enamel dots and pearls. I used Sketch # 148 at Freshly Made Sketches for design inspiration for this card. I liked this sketch because it gave me a nice, large area for the main image. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Sketch #210: Lucky Stars

owh-sketch-210-luckystars

  • Stamps – from Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Happy Camper” and “Call of the Wild” and Pebbles “Lakeside: Canoe”

This is another entry in the CardBowl challenges at Operation Write Home (OWH) Stars and Stamps this weekend. This card was based on OWH Sketch #210 and has kind of a star theme. I used constellation paper and stamped stars from the Hero Arts OWH set from a couple of years ago. It also follows an outdoor theme, so it fits well with the challenge at Shopping Our Stash Cabin Fever Challenge #136 for an outdoors-y card. I dug around in my patterned papers for this one! Thanks for visiting.

Stenciled Fern – Seahawks colors!

owh-cardbowl-hawkscolors

  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Mini Ferns”
  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings”
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park “For the Record 2”
  • Ranger Dylusions Ink Sprays – Fresh Lime, Vibrant Turquoise and London Blue
  • Golden Molding Paste
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card based on a lesson from the Online Card Classes Stenciled class. I tried my hand at using molding paste with a stencil. My variation was to mist the cardstock with ink sprays prior to adding the molding paste and it actually incorporated some of the color into the stenciled image. Kind of a happy accident! I’ve included a close-up here to try to show it in a little more detail.

paste-closeupMy color scheme reflects the colors of the Seattle Seahawks, who will soon be playing in the Super Bowl. The Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps CardBowl is this weekend, and one of the challenges is to use something that reflects one of the teams playing in your card design. Living in the northwest, it seemed only appropriate to select the Seattle team, so I picked the team colors! Thanks for stopping by today.

Freshly Made Sketches #118 – Penguin with cupcake for you!

fms-118-penguincupcake

  • Stamps – Inky Antics “Baking Penguins” and Northwoods “Capital For You”
  • Patterned papers – from Echo Park “For the Record 2” 6 X 6” paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used Freshly Made Sketches #118 for this card. It is another penguin card for Operation Penguin at Operation Write Home. I have a lot of penguin stamps, as you may have guessed, so I am taking advantage of this event to use some of my penguins for the greater good! I colored this little guy with Copics and fussy cut him and popped him up. Enjoy! And thanks for visiting.

Hedgehog Love

hedgehog-love

  • Stamps – from Penny Black “Loads of Love” set and Simon Says Stamp “Tag Sayings”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Yours Truly” and American Crafts “Smitten”
  • Die – Spellbinders/Just Rite “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Here is another late-to-my-blog card–it is already on the way to OWH! And it is another kids’ love card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown from two weeks ago. I really enjoy making kids cards and I know it must be fun for our heroes to send cards home to their kids and young friends and relatives. I colored this hedgehog stamped image with Copic markers and layered it up with some nice contrasting colors. Thanks for stopping by.

Diecut Dynamo Valentine

OWH-ILoveYou

  • Stamps – Magenta heart and Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Circles” and “Standard Circles”
  • Die – Simon Says Stamp “Tilted Banners”
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park “Yours Truly: Crush”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

This card features four die cuts, in response to the challenge at 365 Cards this week for Day 329, to use at least three different die cuts on a card. This is another Valentine for my Operation Write Home collection that I’m putting together before the end of the year. It was fun put together a design that repeats the circle motif with both the die cuts and the patterned paper. Thanks for stopping by.

365 Cards Challenge: Day 318 – Love is in the air

365_Day318_Love

  • Patterned paper – Echo Park Love Story collection “Snapshots”
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Floral Doily Motifs” die set
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain

This is a very simple, kind of vintage-looking card for my Operation Write Home Valentine and Love box I’ll be sending off at the end of the year. The challenge for Day 318 over at 365 Cards was to make a card using the word Love. I applied Distress Inks to all of the elements of this card to “age” it a bit. The imagery all comes from the Echo Park paper. Thanks for visiting.

Clean and Simple Sketch #264 – Snowman

owh-sketch196-snowman

  • Stamps – Art Impressions “Snowman” and “WC Blue Bird Left”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Bundle of Joy” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Deckled Rectangles Large”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This was the last card I tucked into my Operation Write Home box this morning before shipping it off. Winter cards (not Christmas) are in demand, so I crafted this snowman card. The stamps are from an Art Impressions set, and I colored the images with Copic markers. I used the current sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping: Sketch #264 for design inspiration. Thanks for stopping by.

Black, White and Blue Challenge

365-Sketch-Day276

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Painted Flower”
  • Patterned papers – KaiserCraft “Black & White Timeless” 6-!/2″ pad and Echo Park – “For the Record” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger “Broken China”

This is a great color scheme. The challenge for Day 276 at 365Cards was to create a card using black, white and blue. I tried to stay strictly with those colors, stamping the image in black ink on white and distressing the edges with blue ink. The patterned papers are also in those colors and the base card is a light blue. This will make a nice any occasion card for Operation Write Home. Thanks for stopping by.
