Sloth with a birthday forecast

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Hang in There”
  • Dies – Lawn Fawn “Hang in There”
  • Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop Rebekah Meier Designs “Connected Dots”
  • Ranger Distress Oxide inks: Fired Brick and Antique Linen
  • Zig Clean Color markers/waterbrush
  • Gold Mosaic Stickers – Mark Richards, Ltd.
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Come Away with Me”
  • Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers – “Snarky”

I made this card for a young friend who turned 21. I knew I had to take advantage of our mutual sense of humor, so I used the “Snarky” sticker from Tim Holtz! I created the background with Distress Oxide inks and a stencil. I colored the sloth and branch with Zig Clean Color markers and watercolored the ink with a waterbrush. Once the images were dry, I die-cut them and placed them onto the background, stamped the birthday sentiment and added the sticker. I edged the watercolor paper with Distress ink then layered it onto the patterned papers. The gold stone mosaic stickers gave the card a little pizzazz. Thanks for visiting.

Sleepy Owl’s Birthday

  • Stamps –
    • Impression Obsession “Sleepy Owl”
    • The Cat’s Pajamas “Simply Said”
  • Patterned papers –
    • BoBunny “Enchanted Garden Romance” and “Dot to Dot – Violet Dot”
    • Bazzill – “Antique Script”
  • Copic Markers
  • Embossing Powder – Ranger Ink

I’ve had this owl stamp and the patterned paper on the card base for years, so it was fun to create this card for an owl enthusiast with it. I colored the image with Copic markers, fussy-cut it, and layered it onto a couple of layers of patterned paper. I heat embossed the sentiment onto the black paper so it would stand out. A very simple card. Thanks for stopping by.

A Wild Birthday

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Cheery Christmas,” “Let’s Play,” “Wild for You” and “Jump for Joy”
  • Dies – Lawn Fawn “Cheery Christmas,” “Jump for Joy,” “Let’s Play,” and “Grassy Hillside Borders”
  • Copic markers
  • Ranger Distress inks
  • Cardstock – Neenah Solar White and BoBunny

I always enjoy putting together cute animals to create a scene — and mixing up stamp sets to make something truly unique. Because look how natural it is for that porcupine to roll down that slide? I created the sky using Distress inks and also inked the grass to give the different tufts some variation in value. All of the animals and their playground equipment are colored with Copics. It was fun arranging them altogether. Thanks for visiting.

Who’s taking the cake?

  • Stamps/Dies – Art Impressions “Mini Raccoon Spinner Set”
  • Rectangle dies – Simon Says Stamp  “Stitched Rectangles”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Enchanted Harvest Collection” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Copic markers
  • Fishing line

This raccoon is is running up the tree and really trying to take that cake! I stamped the raccoon and cupcake, then colored them with Copic markers. Once that was complete, I die cut them and attached them to the fishing line (these images are two-sided).

Detail of view of raccoon from the inside.

I put a panel of the bark patterned paper on the inside of the card base and die cut the outside opening and the other stitched frames. I attached the raccoon and cupcake suspended by fishing line on the back side of the card front, concealing the fishing line with another stitched frame.

This was a fun card to make and I know a certain raccoon lover who will really like it! Thanks for visiting.

Birthday in Stumptown

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn, “Joy to the Woods,” “Cheery Christmas,” and “Elphie Selfie”
  • Dies –
    • Lawn Fawn, “Joy to the Woods,” “Happy Birthday Border,” “Cheery Christmas,” and “Elphie Selfie”
    • Sizzix – Tim Holtz – Tree Rings die with Textured Impressions embossing folder
  • Patterned paper – Lawn Fawn 6 X 6″ Paper Pack “Knock on Wood”
  • Distress Inks – Espresso Powder, Walnut Stain, Tea Dye
  • Copic markers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card for my son’s 19th birthday. He likes woodland critters and I gathered rodents and other creatures from a number of stamp sets to get the right combination. It was fun to use the tree stump as the platform for them to dance upon. I cut the “Tree Rings” die from white cardstock, embossed it, and then applied several different Distress inks to get the right coloring. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Birthday, Trenton!

Old Dog – 50th Birthday

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous: The Art of Brett Weldele “Barks Marvin: The Crime Solving Dog”
  • Stencils – Stampers Anonymous: Tim Holtz Collection “Cargo” and “Grid Dot”
  • Alphabet stickers – Making Memories “Mini Shimmer Alpha”
  • Wooden embellishments – Kaisercraft Flourishes “Pets”
  • Distress Oxide inks – Ranger Ink – Broken China, Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans
  • Texture Paste – Ranger Ink – Transparent Matte

I made this card for a friend who turned 50. I worked with him for a long time, and always joked with him that I raised him from a the time he was a pup! So this card came together appropriately! It is hard to see the details in this photo (he took the picture for me–I had forgotten to do it before I gave it to him–oops!), but there are a lot of layers and textures. I started out by applying Distress Oxide inks and water to the media board in a number of layers, drying after each application. Then I added transparent texture paste through the grid stencil and added more ink. I then stenciled the numbers (50) from the “Cargo” stencil. The dog stamp was designed by Brett Weldele, who is a local artist here in Salem. Thanks for visiting.

Party Animals

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn – “Wild for You”
  • Dies –
    • Lawn Fawn – “Wild for You,” “Grassy Hillside Borders,” “Simple Gift Card Slots,” and “Lift the Flap”
    • Sizzix – Tim Holtz Alterations “Celebrate” (inside “Happy Birthday” sentiment)
    • Little B – “Rectangle”
  • Copic markers
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny – “Serendipity”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

If I’m going to play with cuteness, the Lawn Fawn animals are always at the top of my list! This new “Wild for You” set is no exception. I colored the stamped images with Copics and cut them out with the matching dies. I made sure they donned some party hats and crowns.

I cut the rectangle and then used the “Lift the Flap” die to hold the gift card that were placed in slots created by the slots die (inside shown in photo above). These dies worked as slick as a whistle. I used a portion of grass cut with the grass border die to ground the animals and adhered all of them to the card front. A great little package. Inside the card is the birthday greeting.

I’m posting this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – Furry Friends and to the Mod Squad Birthday Bash Challenge.

Thanks for visiting.
