Violets for Mom

Mom-Bday

  • Stamp – Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates Volume 1”
  • Patterned paper – K & Company “Jubilee Purple Burst”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Ribbon – May Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a birthday card I made this past weekend. It is for my mom. Happy Birthday, Mom!

I love a good botanical stamp! This Flourishes stamp is really lovely. I’ve been taking and really enoying the Watercolor for Cardmakers class at Online Card Classes and this was inspired by some of the lessons there. I used watercolor pencils and a water brush to color the image. If you’d like to see a close-up of the violets, see the photo below. Thanks for stopping by.

Rosette Sympathy Card

sympathy-barb

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “Rosette” and My Sentiments Exactly “Sympathy”
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Floral Doily Motifs” and “Standard Circles Large”
  • Patterned papers – Lawn Fawn “Bright Side” 6 X 6” paper collection
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Rhinestone – Queen and Company “Iridescent”

I’ve had to make too many sympathy cards lately. For this one, I used a stamp set I’ve had for a long time to create the “rosette.”  I stamped the two pieces on a couple of different tone-on-tone patterned papers and then cut out and popped up the pieces in different layers. It made the design a lot more interesting. I then edged everything with some purple chalk ink  to tie the pieces together. Thanks for visiting.

Clean and Simple Anniversary – Grays

anniversary-2014

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Patterned Paper – We R Memory Keepers “Winter Frost Collection: Frost”
  • Dies – Memory Box “Valerian Flourish” and Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Nine” and “Standard Circles Large”
  • Black Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin and Bazzill

I really like to use the color gray in design. It is a neutral with so many possibilities. This week’s CAS-ual Friday challenge (CFC129) is to use at least two shades of gray in a clean and simple project. I have used several different colors of gray (one silver-y gray!) cardstock and there are grays in the patterned paper also. I gave this card to my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary, which we celebrated yesterday. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Stamp – from Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates Volume 1” set

I used this fantastic sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for today’s card – Sketch #119. It is a pretty unusual, asymmetrical design and is really good for showing off patterned papers. This card is all about shapes and patterns. Thanks for visiting today.

Penguins in a Teacup: Missing You

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Ship Happens” and Hero Arts “Right at Home”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Collectible: Memorable ‘Hello’ Cordial Paper” (both sides)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny
  • Dies – JustRite/Spellbinders “Vintage Labels Three” and Spellbinders “Standard Circle Large”
  • Ribbon

This is my last penguin card for a little while. I used another Cat’s Pajamas stamp and colored the image with Copic markers. I doubled-up the Vintage Labels die cuts for a little change. This is the final penguin card for Operation Penguin at Operation Write Home (OWH). There is a Brigadier General who has a certain fondness for penguins, and he has requested that we send penguin cards for his unit to send home. And many of us are happily fulfilling his request. This week’s Shopping Our Stash Challenge #134 is to make Miss You cards. I pulled this penguin stamp out of my stash unused! I’ve had it for a long time, too! The sentiment is one that I’ve used a number of time for OWH, and I found the patterned paper amid many other sheets of paper! I successfully shopped my stash, down to the little scrap of ribbon! Thanks for visiting today.

Best Fishes – OWH Our Daily Bread Challenge: Stripes

penguin-bestfishes

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Best Fishes” and “Smells Like Cake” (for the birthday sentiment)
  • Patterned papers – Scenic Route “Appleton 5th Street” (both sides)
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Embellishments – Stampendous Class A Peel Stickers “Geo Shapes Sparklers-Blue”
  • Punch – Creative Memories corner punch
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Yes, another penguin card! I have just a few penguin stamps in my collection! I am taking Operation Penguin just a bit further than Sandy probably would like! But who doesn’t like a good penguin in their life? This is another from The Cat’s Pajamas. I colored the stamped image with Copic Markers and layered it up. I wanted to use this striped paper with all of the bright colors to bring out some of the colors in the image. We were challenged to make a card with stripes in the current Our Daily Bread Challenge for January at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. Thanks for stopping by.

Hedgehog Love

  • Stamps – from Penny Black “Loads of Love” set and Simon Says Stamp “Tag Sayings”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Yours Truly” and American Crafts “Smitten”
  • Die – Spellbinders/Just Rite “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

Here is another late-to-my-blog card–it is already on the way to OWH! And it is another kids’ love card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown from two weeks ago. I really enjoy making kids cards and I know it must be fun for our heroes to send cards home to their kids and young friends and relatives. I colored this hedgehog stamped image with Copic markers and layered it up with some nice contrasting colors. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Green & White

owh-mwt-green&white

Dies – Just Rite Custom Dies (by Spellbinders) “Vintage Labels Two,” Penny Black “Love and Joy” and Spellbinders Edgeabilities “Classic Decorative Inserts Three”

Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny Dots

Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Holly Ribbons”

Rhinestones – KaiserCraft

This card involves embossing and die cutting, with no stamping. This week’s Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog was to create cards with green and white (or red and white) color schemes. I selected green and white for my card and sort of made up the design as I went along.  “Love” cards are pretty popular in the OWH boxes, so I’m trying to send a number of them this time around. Thanks for stopping by.

Foxy Love

Here is another “love” card for Operation Write Home. I used OWH sketch #204 for this card and colored the cute little fox from Lawn Fawn with Copic markers. I popped up all of the circles with some dimensional adhesive and distressed the edges of my papers with Pumice Stone distress ink from Ranger. Thanks for visiting today.
