Operation Write Home – Sketch #173

owh-sketch-173

  • Stamp – Magenta “Musical Bird Collage”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Happy Day” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Dragonfly punch – McGill Craftivity
  • Postage stamp punch – Marvy Uchida
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the latest sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps for this card: OWH Sketch #173. The subtle patterns in this paper collection didn’t take too much away from the bird stamp focal point. It also meant I had both flora and fauna elements–what could be better? Thanks for visiting today.

Clean & Simple – Sketch #240 – Happy Mother’s Day

c&s-240-MothersDay

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Mother’s Day Message”
  • Die cut made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Resplendent Rectangles”
  • Patterned papers – from Echo Park “Victoria Gardens” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Pearls – Queen and Company

This was the Mother’s Day card I made for my mom. I had to post it late today so she wouldn’t see it online before she received it! I used the sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping #140 for inspiration. This was the first time I’d used this die, which is ornate and very pretty. The colors are very Spring-y and the pearls made it seem more elegant. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! Thanks for visiting today.

Operation Write Home – Romantic Card with Paper Piercing

OWH-VCMP-Romantic&Tut

  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Lots of Hearts”
  • Die cut made with matching dies from Simon Says Stamp “Large Hearts”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Collectable: Memorable – Perfect” (both sides)
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Pearls – Queen & Company

This is another Operation Write Home card I’ve made for the OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party for National Scrapbooking Day. I made this one in response to Sandy’s challenge to make a romantic card using a technique in one of the OWH tutorials. I chose a tutorial on paper piercing from a couple years ago. I went for a linear look in my design for this  card, with a line of “holes” to match the line of scallops. Then I switched things up a little by adding pearls to alternating scallops–but we’ve still got a strong horizontal line going. Finally, I edged all of the elements with chalk inks to unify them and really showcased the beautiful (and romantic!) floral patterned paper. Thanks for visiting today.

  • Digital image – Fred She Said
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large” and “Eyelet Circles”
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Pearls – Doodlebug Designs “Halloween Assortment”
  • Patterned paper – Doodlebug Designs “Rainbow Sherbet”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

I made this card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge: Stripes. That was for midweek – LAST week, so I’m pretty behind. I colored this cupcake along with Sandy Allnock, Executive Director of Operation Write Home, during an online Copic Marker tutorial she did a couple of weeks ago. I could use some more practice! Well, thank you for visiting!

OWH Sketch Challenge #165 – Mom

OWH-Sketch-165

  • Patterned paper – Creative Imaginations “Purple Pansies” (both sides)
  • Alphabet stickers – Wordsworth “Pointallism”
  • Border punch – EK Success “Fleur de Lis”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and WorldWin
  • Ribbon

I crafted this card using the Operation Write Home Sketch #165 on the Stars and Stamps blog. I eeked out one last Mom card before the deadline for Mother’s Day and Mom cards! I never make as many as I’d like. Life (and mostly work!) gets in the way! I thought this pretty floral patterned paper would be perfect for a Mom card. Thanks for visiting today.

Pattern Play & Less Than 20 Minutes!

owh-MothersDay-PP

  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Blossom Three”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Dolled Up” collection
  • Cardstock – BoBunny “Coral Dot”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Mother’s Day Message”
  • Embellishments – Prima “Say it in Pearls”
  • Gems – Darice

I wanted to get one more Mother’s Day card finished for the Operation Write Home deadline coming up at the the end of the month! This was a quick one I did, inspired by the Online Card Classes “Pattern Play” course – Day 1. I was able to showcase several different patterned papers from a 6 X 6″ paper pad I recently acquired by My Mind’s Eye. It fulfilled the 20 Minutes or Less Time’s Up challenge at 365 Cards as well! Hurray! Enjoy and have a great day!

I created this main background paper by combining the Karen Foster paper and branch background stamp listed above. I learned this technique from Day 2 of the Online Card Classes Pattern Play class, which has really been a great class. Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Mother’s Day Card Featuring Patterned Paper

OnlineCardClasses-PatternPlay-Day3

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Mother’s Day Message”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Serenity”

This is a super simple card that features some pretty floral patterned paper. I was inspired by the Online Card Classes “Pattern Play” class, Day 3 lesson. I broke up this large pattern by cutting it up into strips to be used as the background for a sentiment. I am continuing to try to make Mother’s Day cards for Operation Write Home, so this paper seemed perfect. I outlined the edge of the floral background and sentiment with white pen dashed lines for a little more (hopefully) interest. Thanks for visiting.

Orchid Anniversary Card

orchid-anniversary

  • Stamp – Flourishes “Orchids” set
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Circle Frame and Rosemary” set
  • Die cuts made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty”
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Little Black Dress”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Pearls – Memory Box
  • Ribbon and glossy textured cardstock from my stash

This is a pretty orchid image that I stamped with a Flourishes set I’ve had for some time. I colored it with Twinkling H2Os, so there is some sparkle. I also added some outlining with a Sakura Gelly Roll Sparkle pen to a little more sparkle, albeit subtle. I gave this card to my husband for our 19th anniversary. Thanks for stopping by!

A page for Lisa

lisa-page-full

  • Stamps – Hampton Art Stamps “Kewpie Doll,” Stamper’s Anonymous “P5-1072 Dotted Wings” and “G3-1056 Splendid Adventure,” and Crafty Individuals “Decorative Diamonds”
  • Template – Crafter’s Workshop “Botanicals”
  • Inks – Ranger Distress Inks
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls
  • Vellum

My local stamp store, Stampin’ Cat Studio in Salem, Oregon, is no more. It is a sad time for many of us who have been shopping there and enjoying the sense of crafting community for the past 10-plus years. But as the store celebrated some great times this past Thursday, many of us made 6″ X 6″ pages to put into a memory book for Lisa, Stampin’ Cat’s owner. This page was the one I created for her. I used Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls, along with a plastic template, lots of water and some stamps from my stash. The Perfect Pearls provide a nice sheen (which is not evident in this photo unfortunately!). I stamped the butterfly wings onto vellum for translucent wings to help Kewpie fly! I’m quite sure that all of the supplies I used to create this were purchased at Lisa’s shop. Cheers, Lisa! Here’s to a Splendid Adventure! I wish you well! Thanks for visiting today.
