Peak-a-Bear

peak-a-bear

  • Stamps –
    • Avery Elle: “Hang In There” and “Petals and Stems”
    • Stampers Anonymous “Vintage Text”
  • Dies – Avery Elle: “Hang In There” and “Trees”
  • Patterned paper – Bella Blvd “Time to Rake”
  • Metallic copper paper
  • Embossing powder – Personal Stamp Exchange – Copper
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – Perfect Copper
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Forest Moss, Crushed Olive, Walnut Stain, and Rusty Hinge
  • Recycled Java Jacket (from Starbuck’s Coffee)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling

It was fun to create this card with some new supplies I got recently (and some really old supplies!). I customized the tree with a versatile die set. I can make the trunk as skinny or as fat as I want! I die-cut the bear and stamped his face with the matching stamp set. I inked him up, which in reality just made him look grubby! I created my own patterned paper with Distress Inks overstamped with the Vintage Vintage Text stamp and then sprayed with copper Perfect Pearls Mist. From that, I die-cut the leaves for the tree branch. I embossed the leaves on the tree trunk and the sentiment to tie together all of the copper elements. The backdrop within the tree trunk is a recycled Java Jacket from a cup of coffee–a nice, small little piece of lightweight corrugated cardboard. I will post this on Paper Players for the Theme Challenge #326: Going Green. The copper paper and embossing powder have been in my stash for years and years! I’ve had the Petals and Stems stamp set for quite a while also. It is fun to use new and old supplies and see how well everything will fit together. Thanks for visiting.

Is it Friday yet?

ss-is-it_friday_yet

  • Image – from World Wildlife Fund Penguins calendar 2016
  • Stamp – The Cat’s Pajamas “Big Cups” (sentiment)
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Romantic Rectangles”
  • Stamp – Patterned paper – Ella & Viv “Rainbow Splash #2”
  • Sequins and beads – 28 Lilac Lane

I made this card in response to a challenge in my card group–we were to use an image from a calendar (recycling, you know). Not surprisingly, I have penguin calendars every year thanks to a friend of mine! So it wasn’t difficult to find a penguin or two to fit on a card. After constructing the card with paper panels and a die-cut frame, I added a few sequins with a seed bead in the center for a bit of sparkle. Thanks for visiting.

Mosaic Butterflies

  • Stamps –
    • Indigo Blu Limor Webber Designs – “Limor Circles”
    • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection – “Papillon”
  • Strathmore Bristol paper
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks
  • White embossing powder
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayons
  • Derwent Inktense pencil
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium: Crazing
  • Cardstock

I was inspired to make this from a project in the October 2016 issue of Craft Stamper magazine, and adapted the technique to fit the supplies I had. First I created a mosaic background first, by cutting up different sized “tiles” from bristol paper, fitting them together and adhering them onto a piece of heavy cardstock. I then applied Distress Inks to the background with a foam applicator before stamping the butterfly image. I spattered some water to give it some additional visual interest. I then stamped and heat embossed the circles, using white embossing powder for some nice contrast. I added the tissue tape and accents with the Inktense pencil and Distress Crayon. Finally, I added a thick coating of Crazing collage medium around the edges to give it a nice crackle, let it dry and attached it to a folded navy card. I will enter this in the Anything Goes November Challenge at Craft Stamper, taking the theme and making it my own! Thanks for stopping by.

Bun-Bun drops by to greet you

TCP-321-BunBunChute

  • Stamps – The Cat’s Pajamas “Oh Chute”
  • Dies –
    • The Cat’s Pajamas “Stitched Clouds”
    • My Favorite Things Die-namics “Sun, Moon & Stars”
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Hey Girl” 6 X 6” paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic markers

I created this card for Challenge #321 – Paper Piecing at The Cat’s Pajamas blog. I always enjoy to do paper piecing with small prints on TCP stamps—especially the hot air balloons and parachutes. I colored the bunny and bow with Copic markers. This is a very clean and simple card—with the three patterned papers, I didn’t want to make it any busier! Bun-Bun is so nicely flopped as he drops down in his parachute. Not sure that he should be so relaxed! Thanks for visiting today.

Hero Arts Orchids Scramble

ha-scramble-138

  • Stamps – Hero Arts – CL947 “Color Layering Large Orchid”
  • Ranger – Distress Crayons
  • Ranger – Distress Inks
  • Distress Watercolor cardstock
  • Bazzill cardstock – Bouquet
  • Neenah Solar White cardstock

I created this card for a 90-minute scramble #138 on the Hero Arts Flickr site. Our challenge was to use solid stamps and outline stamps together. I used Distress Crayons directly on the outline stamp and spritzed it with water. I did a similar watercolor technique for the solid stamps and stems, only using Distress Inks. I added some water splatters and the sentiment to finish off the image. I then adhered it with a strip of purple cardstock and popped the whole thing up with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for stopping by.

Black & White – Ooh La La

MojoMonday-oohlala

Stamps – Poppystamps “Ooh La La”

Dies – Spellbinders –

Floral Doily Motifs

Standard Circles Large

Patterned papers – Authentique “Everlasting” Collection: Promise and Timeless

Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card with the current sketch at Mojo Monday: #461. A cardmaking group I belong to has a challenge to create a black and white card, so I set out to use this penguin set. It is very simple, using several patterned papers layered together with the image. Thanks for visiting.

Purple floral card with die-cuts

ss_purple

  • Stamps – WPlus9 – “Spring Blooms”
  • Dies –
    • Spellbinders Nestabilities “Vintage Labels Three”
    • Memory Box “Locina Buckle”
    • Memory Box “Amira Flourish”
  • Ken Oliver Crafts – Liquid Metals “Metallic Amethyst”
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Textured paper – unknown origin
  • Vellum

I created this card for a challenge with a group of friends to make a purple-themed card, as a tribute to a group member who recently passed away. I colored the image background with Ken Oliver Liquid Metals in a nice, metallic amethyst wash. I stamped over it with black ink. I used some lacy die-cuts for visual interest. Thanks for visiting.

Iris Fold with Gears

irisfoldw-gears

  • Stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty Two”
  • Origami paper – Yasutomo Metallic Colors
  • Gears – Tim Holtz Ideaology “Mini Gears”
  • Patterned paper – KI Memories/Hampton Art “Metro Garden” 6X6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I wanted to create another iris fold card. For this one I cut a “window” from one of my dies. I used a square Iris Fold pattern from Judy Headrick at Cards and Crafts to fill in the frame with multiple metallic colors. I made this card for an older gentleman and added the gears for a masculine touch. Thanks for visiting today.

Freshly Cut – One Layer with Pencils

PB-FreshlyCut

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Freshly Cut”
  • Kraft paper card
  • Prismacolor colored pencils
  • Memories pigment ink pad “Unicorn”

I couldn’t wait to color this image! I felt that the image should be the focal point, so a clean and simple card is really appropriate. I couldn’t decide which media to try first and I stamped it out two different ways (the other is embossed onto watercolor paper, so a watercolor version will be coming!). I like the effect when coloring with pencil on a Kraft paper card, so that was the route I took here. I stamped with white ink and then colored with a simple pallette. The Penny Black and More Challenge is Anything Goes with a Stamp and the Penny Black Saturday Challenge this month is a One Layer Card, so this seemed to fit the bill. Thanks for visiting today.

Fly!

SS-bugs-thinking

  • Stamps –
    • Stampers Anonymous U4-960 (bugs)
    • Hero Arts “Thanking of You”
  • Dimensional stickers – EK Success
  • Zig Clean Color markers
  • Neenah Solar White cardstock

I created another card a buggy image for the insect challenge our card group is hosting. It also seemed to be a good fit for Challenge #91: Fly at Addicted to CAS. I created the background to have a scribbly, watercolored effect by using my Zig markers and a waterbrush. I stamped only the partial image from a long Stampers Anonymous woodmount stamp I’ve had in my collection for years. A very simple card. Thanks for visiting.
