This was a fun card to make. I was sitting along Fall River in Central Oregon on a very warm day last weekend and created this card. Distress techniques lend themselves well to dusty, outdoor locations! I created the base background with a Memory Box stencil and Distress Ink and then stamped and cut out the leaves, splattering them with water and Distress Ink. I used the same stamps on watercolor pap
er with less ink and more water to give indications of leaves and more splatters. I attached the leaf cut-outs on top of all of the layers and then stamped the sentiment on a small scrap colored with the same ink colors. All elements are edged with ink to finish them. I really like this stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I am pretty sure that this little creature is a raccoon, but it has a kind of skunk-like tail, so I can’t be absolutely sure! I had fun making this card and it is the only Thanksgiving card I made this year. It is perfect for the “Thankful” challenge at 365 Cards for Day 331. I haven’t played with sequins for a long time, so I had a good time with this card! Have a very happy Thanksgiving!

I entered this card in the Oregon State Fair this year. It didn’t win in its category, but I did overhear someone in the crowd comment on it and saw her take a picture of it in the display! So that meant as much as a ribbon! The leaves are made with a punch I’ve had for a number of years now that both punches and embosses, which is pretty neat. I applied Walnut Stain Ranger Distress Ink to the edges of all of the elements for an antiqued look. Thanks for visiting.

For this Fall card, I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps: OWH Sketch #187. I stamped two leaves from my new Tim Holtz leaf set, which I love, and then distressed it with Ranger Distress Inks and spattered with water for a nice textured effect. I’m definitely in a distress ink phase right now–I can’t seem to get enough of that look! The paper string matches the Autumn theme as well. Thanks for stopping by.

This is a birthday card for a friend who receives a squirrely card from us each year while we all go camping together. I based this card’s design on Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Sketch #69. I distressed the patterned paper with Ranger Distress Inks and spattered with water to create a background that matched the stamped leaves and acorns, which I distressed with the same ink colors. I popped up the acorn and one of the oak leaves with dimensional adhesive for a little 3-D effect. I created this card outside on a picnic table up in the mountains while camping. I made a clean and simple card for the 365 Cards Day 196 Challenge: Keep It Simple. Truly clean and simple cards can be quite a challenge. I decided to make a Fall card with lots of white space. I stamped the pumpkin with orange pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it some texture. The faux stitching with the sparkly gel pen tied the elements together a bit. I chose images from some fun American Crafts “campy” papers I’ve had for a while. The colors fit perfectly and it will make a fun card for a kid in my Operation Write Home box. I trimmed out the animals and popped them up with little fanfare. They seem to speak for themselves! Enjoy your day!

This challenge was all about something I had to have! It was at 365 Cards for Day 181: Gotta Have it this week. When I read the challenge the first time, I immediately thought of cardmaking supplies! Every couple of month the local stamping store has an open house where the owner features new products and fun items. I often have those “gotta have it” moments then–and I do seem to have a thing for squirrels! I figure there are worse vices, right? Anyway, when I saw the stamp with these squirrels from Memory Box, I said “I’ve got to have it!” The stamp has each squirrel on different sides of the wood mount, so you can choose to use one or both, in any configuration. Flexibility in squirrel stamping–always important! I colored them with Copic markers and layered them with some favorite papers, adding some faux stitching dots around the image. Simple and fun. This is another masculine designed card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Masculine Challenge. I distressed the edges of the papers with Ranger Distress Inks and used browns and deep reds for the color pallet. This card also is in response to the 365 cards Day 183 Challenge – Pick-A-Pattern. I chose houndstooth and polka dots for my two patterns to combine. I made up the “sketch” as I went on this one! Thanks for visiting!

I combined a couple of challenges to make this card. I stamped this leaf on textured paper, which can be kind of tricky if you have much detail in your stamp. Stamping on texture is the Day 182 challenge at 365 Cards. I wanted to put together a card that could be considered masculine, and general in theme, for Operation Write Home. All occasion cards are always needed and this one could be used for a variety of reasons. The OWH Midweek Throwdown this week is to make “masculine” cards, so hopefully the little bit of bling is downplayed enough! Thanks for stopping by!
