OWH Rebel Challenge Card – Paper Piecing

  • Stamps – from Verve stamps “Up, Up & Away” set
  • Patterned paper – American Crafts “Campy Trails: Elk Creek Trail”
  • Cloud template – Inky Antics
  • Stickers – EK Success “Dots Pastels”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Basics and BoBunny Dot to Dots

This is a card for the Rebellious OWHers who are making cards instead of scrapbooking on National Scrapbooking Day! I decided to paper piece a hot air balloon for this card. I stamped the balloon three times twice on patterned papers and once on white to get some variety on the balloon to piece with. When it was all assembled, I used a stipple brush and my cloud template to create the background. Ironically, I got this template just before the tutorial on OWH this past week on how to make clouds! Enjoy the weekend and the opportunity, should you choose to participate, to make lots of cards for Operation Write Home! My challenge is coming up at 5pm Eastern Time today (8pm Pacific). Come back and join me for more fun! Thanks for stopping by!

OWH – Sketch 119 – A Mouse “Hello”

  • Stamp – 100 Proof Press “Hello Mouse”
  • Die cut made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Circles”
  • Patterned papers – from Basic Grey “Eva” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Rhinestones – Mark Richards “Crystal Stickers: Lavendar”
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop”

I love this mouse image! I colored him with colored pencil (Prismacolors) after I stamped him and popped it up for a little added dimension. I used the current sketch over at OWH Stars & Stamps: OWH Sketch #119. Just a fun card for a note for any occasion. Perfect for Operation Write Home! Thanks for visiting!

A Kitty for Today

  • Digital Image – Just Some Lines (made available at Crafter’s Digital Art Center).
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Stella Rose: Hazel”
  • Ribbon – American Crafts

I based this card design on the current sketch at CPS (Card Positioning System): Sketch #263. This image is from Crafter’s Digital Art Center Progressive Freebies Challenge #16 and the image is from Just Some Lines. I colored it with Copics in a Siamese-y sort of way! This will be my first card for my next box to go to Operation Write Home. I just shipped 25 cards to OWH on Friday. Thanks for visiting.

OWH – Using Scraps – “You’re the Best”

  • Die cut – SEI “Field Notes: The Sample Box”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny dots (scraps!)
  • Trim from stash

This was a very simple card that I made from some of my many scrap pieces of cardstock and a few little extras! Over at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps, we are challenging ourselves to use up some of our extra scraps and put them to good use on cards. There is a OWH tutorial to give you a little direction along these lines as well! So let this be a challenge to you: go forth and use up some of those precious scraps! I will post more cards using up left-overs here as well. Thanks for stopping by today!

Card Patterns and Crafter’s Digital Art Center – Enjoy Today

  • Digital Stamp – TLC creations
  • Sentiment stamp – Penny Black “”Sweet Wishes”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Mary Mary Happy Birthday” (both sides)
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinder’s Nestabililities “Lacey Circles”
  • Button Candy Dots – Pebbles, Inc.

I used the Card Patterns Sketch #161 for this card, which features one of the bear images from the latest challenge. I used an image from the current Progressive Freebies Challenge at Crafter’s Digital Art Center. This is a festive birthday card that I’ll forward on for Operation Write Home soon. Thanks for visiting today.

Card Patterns Sketch #160 – Happy Birthday

  • Stamps – Cat’s Pajamas “Away We Go” clear set and Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments” clear set
  • Patterned paper – Die Cuts with a View “Dragonfly Flower”
  • Die cut made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Nine”
  • Flowers – Prima
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Glitter dots – Mark Richards

This is a sparkly birthday card for my great niece. I am getting it to her late, but it has a bunny on it in time for Easter! I used the current card sketch at Card Patterns this week: Sketch #160. I’ve had the image colored for quite some time with Copic markers, but just didn’t find the right combination of papers and sketch for it. I like having the contrasting lights and darks with such busy paper. The sentiment is heat embossed with white embossing powder so that it stands out. And there is a lot of sparkle for a six year old! Thanks for visiting today and Happy Easter!

Clean and Simple Sketch #184

  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Out of Print: publication”
  • Border punch – EK Success Edger Punch “Morocco Lace”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Flourish Birthday”
  • Chipboard adhesive butterfly – K & Company “Flora & Fauna Butterfly”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a wonderful sketch over at Clean & Simple Stamping right now: Clean and Simple Sketch #184. The overlapping of border punched strips is very effective and can make really amazing designs. Now that I tried this punch I want to try some others! Depending on the punch it can be nice with patterned papers, too, but there was too much detail in my chosen punch to make that work well in this case. Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH Sketch #115 – Fuschias

Stamp – Penny Black “Delicate Florals”

Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye Little Miss Muffet: “That’s My Girl” and “Isn’t She Lovely”

Embossing folder – Sizzix

Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps – Sketch 115,  for inspiration to create this card. I stamped the Penny Black fuschia image and colored it with Copic Markers, then blended some Distress Inks around the edges. I added some texture by running some cardstock through the Sizzix embossing folder. I popped the layers with an additional black layer behind them. Thanks for the visit today!

Cardmaking Friends April Challenge – Floral

  • Die cuts – made from Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Blossom Tags and Accents” – colored with Ranger Distress Inks
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Stella Ruby”
  • Sentiment stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”

This is a really simple card made with floral die cuts colored with Distress Inks and some pretty patterned paper. This is the sample card for the April challenge for a card group I belong to–the challenge is to make floral cards. I enjoyed putting together the flower from the die cuts and applying color with the Distress inks to match the paper. Have a great day and I’ll see you back here soon.

Sunny Wishes – OWH Sketch #114

  • Stamps – Darcie’s “Here Comes the Sun” cling set (both sentiment and sun)
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Stella Ruby” and “Porcelain” 6 X 6″ paper pads
  • Background – created with Ranger Adirondak Alcohol Inks & Mixables – Polished Agate Technique
  • Cardstock – WorldWin

It is time for some Summer cards to send off to Operation Write Home (with the Father’s Day cards!). I started playing with my alcohol inks last week for a background and thought I’d do some more with different colors. Sometimes it is fun just to make backgrounds! I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps – Sketch #114 for this card. I like the little diamond shape in the middle. Thanks for visiting today.
