I colored two little Lawn Fawn bunnies from a favorite stamp set with colored pencil for this card. I am participating in The Daily Marker’s 30-Day Coloring Challenge, during which we are to spend at least 10 minutes a day coloring for fun and relaxation. Today is the first day of Kathy’s challenge and I colored these little love bunnies during my lunch hour! I heat embossed them last night to make short works of it. Then I put down some base color and colored over the base with white colored pencil. It is a nice effect on the Kraft cardstock. I decided to use Kraft cardstock because it was part of the Simon Says Stamp/Lawn Fawn Flickr Card Challenge going on right now. We are to use Kraft, Lawn Fawn products or Simon Says Stamp products. So everything tied together nicely for this card. Thanks for visiting today.

- Patterned papers – Pebbles “We Go Together: XOXO” and “I Love You”
- Stamp – from Simon Says Stamp “Lots of Hearts” set
- Dies – WPlus9 “Stackers Hearts”
- Stickers – Pebbles Epoxy Hearts
- Cardstock – Bazzill
I’ve been working in my art journals lately, so I want to get back into a few cards again. I used the suggested color palette in the Paper Players Color Challenge #231 for this card. I used several patterned papers from the same Pebbles collection since they were the right colors and coordinated so well. I liked stamping the patterned heart onto the patterned paper heart for this one. The patterned papers really took the lead on this one. It was a fun card to make. Thanks for visiting!

- Dies – Memory Box – “Sofia Heart” and “Mini Heart Collection”
- Simon Says Stamp – “Large Hearts Set” and “Stitched Rectangles”
- Penny Black – “Love & Joy”
- Cardstock – Bazzill Bling and Neenah Solar White
- Sequins – Doodlebug
- Vellum
I am in the midst of the Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 4 class. During the lessons on Day 4, I was inspired by Yana Smakula and her Faux Embossing technique. I used a number of different heart dies I have in my stash to create a fun, white-on-white background. I then attached the Love die cut on a small piece of vellum cut with the stitched rectangle die. You can still see the texture of the heart background through the vellum. I added some pearly and shiny white sequins to the background to accent the bling seen in the sentiment for a subtile and classy look. Thanks for visiting.

- Epoxy dots – Doodlebug Design “Limeade Assortment”
I’ve made another card featuring dots for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group. It is the last day for the spots and dots challenge there. For this card, I applied modeling paste through the stencil for a nice group of raised dots for a background. I used patterned paper with larger dots and then added some epoxy dots for a tri-fecta! This will be a nice Operation Write Home card for a hero to send home to a loved one. Thanks for visiting.

- Vellum – Doodlebug Designs “Sprinkles Vellum” Lily White

- Brads – Lasting Impressions
- Faber-Castell Gelatos
I was challenged to make a project with dots for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group challenge this week. I used vellum with white polka dots for the background. I was able to repeat the white dot with the white brads that attached the vellum and the tag. This card’s focal point consisted of four diecuts layered together. I colored some white cardstock with Gelatos prior to die-cutting the butterfly. Thanks for visiting.

- Baker’s Twine – Doodlebug Designs
- Bling – KaiserCraft – Silver mixed flowers
- Cardstock – Bazzill
- Ranger Distress inks
This week, the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge is to create a project for/with something new. I decided to create a “What’s new?” card featuring a balloon die I’d never used before. The “What’s New” sentiment was my play on words. Anyway, it is a very clean and simple card and a good one for Operation Write Home as well. I colored the balloon and the squirrel with Ranger Distress inks and tied a piece of Baker’s twine around the squirrel’s paw and the balloon to help him fly it. Thanks for visiting.

- Sizzix – Tim Holtz Alterations “Chevron”
- Simon Says Stamp – “Stamptember Thanks”
- Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye – “Confetti: Celebrate Boy ‘Dots,’ ‘Harlequin’ and ‘Yellow Green’
- Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
- Felt
For this challenge, the CAS-ual Friday Challenge #135, I was to use felt and sequins. It is really fun to cut felt with dies–at least when you’ve got good felt. I hadn’t tried it with this Tim Holtz chevron die, but it worked well. I then used the same die to cut some polka dot paper and fit the inner pieces into the felt openings for a pretty interesting combination. The polka dot paper coordinates with the harlequin paper in the background. Then I adhered some well-matched sequins from my stash to add some interest. I chose another die cut for the sentiment, making it in a contrasting color so that it would stand out enough to be legible! Lots of angles! Thanks for visiting.

One of my oldest work friends retired as of today, so sadly I had to say goodbye–but not without making him a card! Bruce was our mail clerk at the Oregon State Capitol, and provided the best customer service to legislators, governors, treasurers, secretaries of state and many, many staff for over 35 years. So I was ever-so-pleased to be able to use some of my postage related stamps to create his card! The background stamp from Hero Arts was a perfect starting point. I popped up the sentiment flag with dimensional adhesive and then popped up the little envelope yet again. So long, Bruce! You had a great run!
