Clean & Simple Sketch #300 – Happy Birthday

c&s-300

  • Stamp – Penny Black “bold b’day”
  • Patterned paper – from Basic Grey “Porcelain” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Mini pearls – Doodlebug Designs
  • Ribbon – May Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card using Sketch #300 on Clean & Simple Stamping.  That’s a lot of sketches–congrats to Clean & Simple on reaching this milestone! The sketch calls for a very large sentiment, so I chose a bold Happy Birthday to fit the bill. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH VCMP Challenge – Dancing Mouse

owh-dancingmouse

  • Stamps –

            Hanko Designs (Kodomo) “Dancing Mouse”

Hero Arts – “Messages with Flourish”

            Mama Elephant – “Modern Borders”

  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Fleur de Lis Rectangles”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

I created this card for the OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party that started on July 4th.  I’m a little slow getting it posted, but I think many of us hosting are happy with folks continuing to create cards for this event. This challenge from Beth at Bunny Scrap was to create a card with a colorful background created with ink, paint, or an assortment of patterned papers. I decided to make my background with ink. I used a border stamp from Mama Elephant and repeated it with two different ink colors to make a pattern. This little mouse is one that I’ve had for quite a while and I don’t think he is available any longer. Thanks for visiting today.

Poppy Thanks Card

PB-poppy-thanks

  • Stamps – Penny Black “Poppy Poem” and Stampin’ Up “Sincere Salutations: Thanks so much”
  • Stencil – Memory Box “Diamond”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Distress Inks – Picked Raspberry, Dried Marigold, Shabby Shutters, Tea Dye
  • Dylusions Ink Spray – White Linen

I created the background for this card first, pouncing Distress Inks through the stencil and blending the colors. Once the background was dry, I stamped the poppy image onto it. I added more Distress Ink with a water brush to fill in the poppy, leaves and stems with color. I sprayed the white ink spray lightly to the image and blended Distress Inks along the edges of the imge. Finally, I stamped the sentiment and adhered the image to the green cardstock, then adhered those pieces to a white card base. Thanks for visiting.

A Penguin Hello

fm-penguinhello

  • Stamps – Memory Box “Penguins at Play” (penguin and bow tie) and My Mind’s Eye “Find Your Wings and Fly” (Hello bubble)
  • Patterned papers – Pebbles “Walnut Grove: Nancy” (black and white chevrons), BoBunny Dot-to-Dot “Licorice Dot” (black flourish) and Lawn Fawn “Bright Side” collection (bow tie)
  • Stickers – Heidi Swapp enamel stickers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

What’s black and white and blue all over? Well, I wish I could come up with a good punch line. The blue gives the penguin a nice icy touch! I made this card for two different challenges. The sketch is the current one at Freshly Made Sketches #141. I also used a black and white, plus one more color pallette that included a word bubble in response to the Friday Mashup #165 It’s All About the Bubble challenge. Whew! It is always fun to use this Memory Box penguin set because you can dress him up for any occasion. This was just a simple bow tie day! I stamped the bow tie on a piece of patterned paper to dress him up a bit. Thanks for stopping by today!

Friday Mashup – Happy Father’s Day

fm164-fathersday

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Father’s Day Message”
  • BARC Wood Tape “Cherry” – Arc Crafts
  • Patterned papers – Simple Stories “Say Cheese”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny
  • Sequins – Doddlebug Designs, Inc.

Today’s Father’s Day card was created in response to the Friday Mashup Challenge. I was to create a project for Father’s Day stamping on anything but cardstock. So I selected wood tape for my stamping surface. It seemed appropriate for a masculine card. This is the card my son and I gave my husband this morning. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday, Rebel Style

Rebel-Birthday

  • Stamp – Hero Arts – “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned papers – Heidi Swapp “Favorite Things” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Stickers – Heidi Swapp
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous Detail White

So it is yet another National Scrapbook Weekend. I have a great interest in making lovely scrapbook pages; I take many photos that fill up my computer hard drive, Dropbox, Snapfish, etc. But there is always something especially daunting to me about creating scrapbooks. I want a really large block of time to do it, and I just don’t have that in my life right now! So cardmaking is really for me! I like the small format of a card, I like the fact that I can give them to friends and family, and I really like to donate as many cards as I can to Operation Write Home.

There are a few of us who make cards for Operation Write Home who call ourselves “Rebels with a Cause” during National Scrapbooking Day. We rebel and make cards instead of scrapbook pages. Yep, that’s pretty serious stuff! So this year, my rebel card is this birthday card. I absolutely love the simplicity of this sketch: Sketch 291 from Clean & Simple Stamping. I’d like to use this one some more! I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder so that it stood out a bit more.  Thanks for visiting today and observing my rebellious side!

Clean and Simple Anniversary – Grays

anniversary-2014

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Patterned Paper – We R Memory Keepers “Winter Frost Collection: Frost”
  • Dies – Memory Box “Valerian Flourish” and Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Nine” and “Standard Circles Large”
  • Black Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin and Bazzill

I really like to use the color gray in design. It is a neutral with so many possibilities. This week’s CAS-ual Friday challenge (CFC129) is to use at least two shades of gray in a clean and simple project. I have used several different colors of gray (one silver-y gray!) cardstock and there are grays in the patterned paper also. I gave this card to my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary, which we celebrated yesterday. Thanks for stopping by.

Valentine with a little sparkle

r-val

  • Patterned papers – Crate Paper “Paper Heart Collection: Define (both sides) and Cupid (both sides)
  • Twine – American Crafts
  • Bling – Queen and Co. “Twinkle Goosebumps”
  • Kraft cardstock – Paper Accents

This is a simple Valentine consisting of punched circles from patterned paper. I added some twine and some sparkly, dimensional “stones” in the centers of the folded circle embellishments. The Shopping Our Stash weekly challenge is to use something shiny, sparkly, glittery, etc. This card was a little understated without the bling, so I think the sparkle did it some good! Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH Sketch #210: Lucky Stars

owh-sketch-210-luckystars

  • Stamps – from Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Happy Camper” and “Call of the Wild” and Pebbles “Lakeside: Canoe”

This is another entry in the CardBowl challenges at Operation Write Home (OWH) Stars and Stamps this weekend. This card was based on OWH Sketch #210 and has kind of a star theme. I used constellation paper and stamped stars from the Hero Arts OWH set from a couple of years ago. It also follows an outdoor theme, so it fits well with the challenge at Shopping Our Stash Cabin Fever Challenge #136 for an outdoors-y card. I dug around in my patterned papers for this one! Thanks for visiting.
