I created this card for my friend Christy and her family at Runaway Art and Craft Studio in Salem. The shop has been open for one year now! It is such a great place for classes and supplies, and it is home to a creative community in the Willamette Valley. So I enjoyed making this card and delivering it to her Sunday. Thanks for stopping by!

OWH – Hexagon Bunny: What’s Shaking?

owh-mwt-hexagons-bunny

Stamps – Verve Stamps “Bunny Shake”

Stencil – The Crafter’s Workshop “Hexagons”

Distress Inks – Ranger: Tumbled Glass, Milled Lavendar, Seedless Preserves

Copic Markers

Cardstock – Paper Accents

Today I’m using hexagons for the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Midweek Throwdown Challenge to use hexagons on a card. Hexagons have gotten to be a pretty popular shape for stamps, stencils, die cuts, etc. I applied Distress Inks with a sponge applicator using a stencil with various sizes of hexagons for the background. I’ve had this bunny stamp for a long time, but I haven’t ever used him. I colored him very simply with Copic markers. Since I wanted to make him shake (had to do it!), I popped him up with a skinny paper  accordian. Now he shakes! The sentiment was part of this stamp set. Thanks for visiting today.

Miss you all the time: Stenciled – Day One

occ-stencil-day1-embossing

  • Stencil – Tim Holtz Collection – Stamper’s Anonymous “Clockwork”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts OWH Set “You’re Always in my Heart”
  • Patterned paper – Marion Smith Designs – “Nirvana: Photo Op”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill
  • Distress Ink – Ranger – Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet  and Walnut Stain

This was the first card that I’ve made during the Online Card Classes Stenciled. This one is from a lesson during Day One. I used heat embossing and a stencil for this card, applying color with Ranger Distress inks. As usual, I’m really enjoying this class and having fun trying some new techniques. I will be adding this to my Operation Write Home box–it is always fun to use the OWH stamps from Hero Arts. Thanks for visiting.

Artist’s Trading Card – Warhol Christmas Tree

NovATC_Warhol_Tree

  • Stamp – Stamper’s Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Mini Blueprints” set
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, and Mowed Lawn
  • Perfect Pearls Mist – Biscotti
  • Krylon gold pen

I made a set of 10 of these trading cards to exchange with my Craft Stamper group. We meet monthly and exchange ATCs and ideas from things we learn from Craft Stamper magazine. This design was inspired by an Andy Warhol technique featured in the November 2013 issue. I used Ranger Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls mists to create the background. I then stamped the tree in the same color as I applied to the background, and made a metallic gold border around the edge of the cards with a Krylon gold pen. I inked and stamped another tree image in Mowed Lawn green, cut it out and popped it up with dimensional adhesive to give the tree some visual interest. Finally, I added accents on the tree with Sakura Jelly Roll pens. Thanks for visiting today.

365 Cards Challenge: Day 318 – Love is in the air

365_Day318_Love

  • Patterned paper – Echo Park Love Story collection “Snapshots”
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Floral Doily Motifs” die set
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain

This is a very simple, kind of vintage-looking card for my Operation Write Home Valentine and Love box I’ll be sending off at the end of the year. The challenge for Day 318 over at 365 Cards was to make a card using the word Love. I applied Distress Inks to all of the elements of this card to “age” it a bit. The imagery all comes from the Echo Park paper. Thanks for visiting.

Early OWH Merry Christmas Card

OWH-Christmas

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Merry Christmas Collage”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny Back to Back Dots and Bazzill
  • Crystal Stickers – Mark Richards Inc.
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Pine Needles, Aged Mahogany, Walnut Stain

Another very simple card, showcasing the collage image of this Hero Arts stamp. I used Distress Inks to color it and layered it with contrasting colors. My Christmas deadline for Operation Write Home is this week, so I need to get this in the mail to my shipper! Thank you for the visit!

OWH – Snow Much Fun

owh-mwt-snowmuchfun

  • Stamps – Close To My Heart “Seasons and Nature: Snowflakes”
  • Stencil – Tattered Angels “Winder Crystals” Glimmer Screens Stencils
  • Ranger Distress inks – Mulled Lavendar, Iced Spruce, Seedless Preserves, Weathered Wood
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Sheer ribbon

I had fun making the background for this card with subtle layers of ink. I used the snowflake stencil with Distress inks, applying the ink with a foam applicator and blending. Then I stamped snowflakes and added the ribbon and sentiment to add dimension and pull it all together. I then layered the whole thing on a lavendar card. I created this for the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Snow Much Fun Challenge for the Midweek Throwdown a couple of weeks ago (a little delayed!). Thanks for stopping by.

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 1 – Umbrella Man Industrial Tag

cc102-Day1-Industrial

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Umbrella Man”
  • Embossing Folder – Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades “Gears”
  • Ranger Foil Cardstock
  • Paint color swatch
  • Border Punch – EK Success
  • Cardstock – BoBunny

I used the lesson on Day 1 of Creative Chemistry 102 (Online Card Classes) as a point of departure for the background for this card, using the “Industrial” technique. I embossed the foil cardstock after stamping the image, which was a departure from the lesson! I added a paint swatch for a kind of ombre accent along the side. Thanks for visiting today.

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 3 – Brayered Stains Mona Tag

cc102-Day3-BrayeredStains-Mona

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Mona Collage”
  • Ranger Distress Stains – Pumice Stone, Dried Marigold, Shabby Shutters, Brushed Pewter
  • Ranger Distress Inks – Walnut Stain, Dried Marigold

I created this tag for a lesson at the Online Card Classes Creative Chemistry 102 class using Distress Stains. Out of all the Distress products, I think I use the stains the least. They really make a nice, more sheer background to layer upon. I added some more ink around the edges with my foam applicator to finish off the piece. Thanks for visiting!
