I made this card using a background/monoprint I created with my Gelli Plate. This particular background consists of three separate runs to get the layers of color I wanted. Each print run used a different color(s) of paint and different imagery. I used Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #93 as inspiration for the layout of this card. Because I’ve been demonstrating mono-printing with the Gelli Plate at a local art and craft studio, I have lots of backgrounds to work with! You may see more soon. I blended some Distress Ink onto the cat image to avoid the stark white paper I had stamped it on. It worked better visually with the background that way. Thanks for visiting.

This week we had a party at work for two special ladies who had worked for the Legislature for over 60 years between them! That’s even longer than I’ve worked there! So I made these cards for them for us to write our good wishes as they go on to a more relaxing chapter in their lives. One of my favorite themes for cards is kid cards! The patterned papers took the lead on this one, which I made for the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Midweek Throwdown Challenge this week: Cards 4 Kids. I particularly like the penguin super hero–he’s very cute! I hope this will bring a smile to a child’s face when they receive it from a real hero. Thanks for visiting!

Hi there. Today’s card features a hedgehog driving a dump truck. Yes, its true! I colored this image with Copic markers and added a little bit of bling at the tires. The Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home this week is to create a card featuring transportation. I figure this guy fits the bill. The design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #88.

I used the latest sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps for this card: OWH Sketch #173. The subtle patterns in this paper collection didn’t take too much away from the bird stamp focal point. It also meant I had both flora and fauna elements–what could be better? I built the robot and the robot kitty with multiple stamp parts in these clear Stampendous stamp sets. Lot of different options for lots of different looking “botz.” I made a simple background with scraps and my new embossing folder that I got on National Scrapbooking Day for $2.00! What a deal! The best part is the eye detail on the robot: Googly Eyes! Sandy at OWH challenged us to make a card with googly eyes as part of the Virtual Cardmaking Party (VCMP) hosted by OWH this past weekend. This is another Operation Write Home card I’ve made for the OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party for National Scrapbooking Day. I made this one in response to Sandy’s challenge to make a romantic card using a technique in one of the OWH tutorials. I chose a tutorial on paper piercing from a couple years ago. I went for a linear look in my design for this card, with a line of “holes” to match the line of scallops. Then I switched things up a little by adding pearls to alternating scallops–but we’ve still got a strong horizontal line going. Finally, I edged all of the elements with chalk inks to unify them and really showcased the beautiful (and romantic!) floral patterned paper. Thanks for visiting today.

I made this card with inspiration from the His and Hers Online Card Class. This class is giving us ideas to use similar supplies or design ideas to create cards for both men and women. I made the background using the Hero Arts background stamp with my Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink pad. The pattern on the background stamp had some similar lights/darks to the patterned paper I used, which made it sort of interesting. I then stamped the little motifs from the Hot Off the Press clear set onto the red chevron patterned paper. I popped up the stamped circles with a little dimensional adhesive and then added some gold stickers. With the bold patterns I chose, I had intended for this to be a masculine card. However, when I look at it, I think it can really go either way for either a male or female recipient. Thanks for visiting today.

I made this card for the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown: Tags ‘n Twine.” I used the card sketch for Day 90 at 365 Cards for design inspiration. I created the tag by applying Ranger Distress inks (Weathered Wood and Scattered Straw). I then spattered it with water for a little visual interest, edged it with the same blue ink I stamped the sentiment with, and then added the baker’s twine. The distressed look of the tag worked well with the patterned paper I chose for the background. I love the die cuts I made with the Hero Arts die! I’m going to have to play with those chevrons some more! Thanks for stopping by today.
