Creative Chemistry 101 – Day 2

These are the first tags I’ve made for the first three techniques we learned in the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101 course at Online Card Classes. There is a lot to learn and not enough hours in the day to practice! Thanks for visiting.

OWH – Midweek Throwdown – Missing You

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “The Aviary Assortment” and Hero Arts “Year Round Sentiments”
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Lime Rickey” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Trim – MultiCraft Imports
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card for the Midweek Throwdown “Miss You” Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps. I used Sketch #232 at Mojo Monday for design inspiration. I added a few spots of color to the owl with Copic markers to spice him up a bit. Lots of pattern going on here, but hopefully it will be cheery for someone to receive! Thanks for visiting.

OWH – One more for Mother’s Day!

  • Patterned papers – Graphic45 “Old Curiosity Shoppe Collection: Exquisite Motif” (both sides used)
  • Die cut – Spellbinder’s Shapeabilities “Fancy Tags”
  • Brads – Lush – My Mind’s Eye – Decorative Turquoise Brads
  • Gemstones – Hero Arts crystal stickers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This was the last Mom card I put in the box I shipped off to Operation Write Home today! Our deadline is next week so that the troops will receive Mother’s Day cards in plenty of time. This is another beautiful sheet of paper produced by Graphic45. Both patterns are from the same piece, since it is double-sided. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH Sketch #112 – Mother’s Day

  • Patterned papers – BoBunny “Country Garden Collection” and “Ambrosia”
  • Flowers – Prima
  • Punch – EK Success “Open Scallop Edger Punch”
  • Die cut – Spellbinder’s Nestabilities “Mega Ovals LG”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Mother’s Day Message”

I used the current card sketch at OWH Sketch #112 for inspiration for this card. I just bought this BoBunny paper yesterday and had to try it out! This is one of the last of my Mother’s Day cards for OWH, as I really need to get them in the mail now. Thanks for the visit and I hope to see you soon.

CPS Sketch #156 – Butterflies

  • Stamps – Layers of Color “Flutterescent”
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Little Black Dress: Modern Vogue and Elegant”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Die cut – Spellbinder’s Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large”
  • ColorBox Chalk Inks (around edge of stamped image)
  • Gems – Mark Richards Crystal Stickers
  • Corner punch – Fiskars

This is a very simple card that features such pretty stamps and paper that I wanted them to steal the show! The sketch at Card Positioning System (#256) is perfect. The little rhinestones add just a little sparkle to liven things up! Thanks for the visit.

OWH Sketch #111 – Mother’s Day

  • Stamps – Hero Arts “Heart Flower Blossoms” and “Mother’s Day Message”
  • Patterned Papers – Basic Grey “Bittersweet” 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Gemstones – Hero Arts
  • Kraft paper

I used the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Sketch #111 for this card. The image and patterned paper strips are edged with chalk ink and the flowers have small little gems for the centers. A simple design all-in-all. Thanks for visiting today!

Mother’s Day – Crafter’s Digital Art Center Image

  • Digital image – Pattie’s Creations – (Crafter’s Digital Art Center Freebie Challenges)
  • Patterned papers – Die cuts with a View “Far East Mat Stack”
  • Die cut – Spellbinder’s Nestabilities “Labels Seventeen”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Sakura Glaze Pens and Copic Markers
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Tea Dye, Bundled Sage and Wild Honey (used at edges of image and sentiment)

Here is another Mother’s Day card for Operation Write Home. I still need to step it up and make a few more before our deadline that is fast approaching. We want to make sure that our heroes have plenty of cards to send home to their moms. I used one of the current images at Crafter’s Digital Art Center provided by Pattie’s Creations, and colored it with Copics and Glaze pens. The Glaze pens give the petals some shine and dimension that is really nice.

Clean & Simple Mother’s Day Card

  • Stamps – All Hero Arts: “Real Fuchsia,” “Real Field Wildflower” and “Mother’s Day Message”
  • BoBunny Back to Backs “Chiffon Dot” cardstock
  • Ranger Distress Stains and Inks: Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord, Fired Brick, Mustard Seed, Dried Marigold
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – Biscotti
  • Watercolor paper
  • Twine

I used a watercolor technique for this floral card, applying Ranger Distress stains and inks direct to rubber on two different stamps, then spraying them with Perfect Pearls Mist before stamping them. I like the way the inks blend, but don’t mix or produce muddy colors. And the mist gives the image a very subtle sparkle that binds to the ink (so it doesn’t rub off).

The sketch is the current FTL 180 at Clean & Simple Stamping. It works perfectly for the featured flowers, which are perfect for another OWH Mother’s Day card!  Hurray!  We are currently trying to make lots of Mother’s Day cards for the troops to send home to their moms, and that is our goal for this week’s Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown. Thanks for stopping by today.

Mojo Monday Sketch 230

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Card Art Flower Tapestry”
  • Patterned paper – KaiserCraft “Hunt & Gather”
  • Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Foliage”
  • Border punch – Stampin’ Up “Scallop Edge”
  • Rhinestones – KaiserCraft “Lime”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used Mojo Monday Sketch #230 when I made this card. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for the challenge, but I’m still posting the card! I accented the stamped image with Ranger Distress Inks. This is a square card, which is always a fun orientation for me. Thanks for visiting.

OWH Sketch #110 – Penguin Mother’s Day

  • Stamps – Stampington & Company “Mother’s Love” and Wordsworth (Rubber Soul) “Happy Mother’s Day”
  • Patterned paper – Basic Grey “Little Black Dress: Charisma”
  • Ribbon – American Crafts
  • Rhinestones – Queen & Co. – Irridescent

I made this card using Sketch #110 at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. I’ve had the penguin stamp for quite some time, being a penguin afficionado and all! This was a fun sketch to feature the stamped image; I added a little color with gel pens. Thanks for visiting today!
