365 Cards Challenge: Day 318 – Love is in the air

365_Day318_Love

  • Patterned paper – Echo Park Love Story collection “Snapshots”
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Floral Doily Motifs” die set
  • Pearls – KaiserCraft
  • Cardstock – WorldWin
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain

This is a very simple, kind of vintage-looking card for my Operation Write Home Valentine and Love box I’ll be sending off at the end of the year. The challenge for Day 318 over at 365 Cards was to make a card using the word Love. I applied Distress Inks to all of the elements of this card to “age” it a bit. The imagery all comes from the Echo Park paper. Thanks for visiting.

owh-alwaysinmyheart

  • Die cut – made with Memory Box “Sofia Heart” die
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “You’re Always in my Heart” stamp set
  • Patterned paper – American Crafts Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Washi tape – Queen and Company
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and World Win

I made another Valentine for Operation Write Home today. This one features one of the sentiment stamps made by Hero Arts especially for Operation Write Home! This is for the Our Daily Bread Designs card challenge for November, which is to make Valentines and love cards. Each month this company will pay to ship up to two boxes of cards to the troops overseas, if we make 50 cards for this challenge. It looks like this will be #45, so we’re making good progress! Thanks for visiting today.

Sent with love – Mojo Monday Sketch #317

mojo-317

  • Stamps – Simon Says Stamp – “Square Sayings”
  • Patterned papers – Simple Stories “Take a Hike”
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a card for Operation Write Home. I used sketch #317 at Mojo Monday for inspiration and used up a few scraps in the process. I need to do a lot more of this to use up all of the odds and ends that I’ve accumulated! Stay tuned. I think there is some major paper piecing in my future. Thanks for the visit today.

OWH Sketch #196 – Winter Friendship

owh-sketch196-winterfriendship

  • Patterned paper – Authentique Paper, LLC, Collection: Peaceful. Papers: Cozy and Chill.
  • Diecut/sticker – Authentique Paper “Peaceful Details”
  • Die cut – made from Impression Obsession’s “Snowflakes” die set
  • Kraft cardstock
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a winter friendship card that I put in my latest OWH box this week. I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps: Sketch #196. There was no stamping on this card, I just used the cardstock weight stickers that are part of this Authentique collection. Thanks for visiting today!

owh-mwt-green&pink

  • Die cuts – SEI Corture “Vintage Pewter”
  • Sentiment Stamp – from Hero Arts OWH “Right at Home” set
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “D’vine Swirl”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

The Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog features a Pink and Green Color Challenge this week for its Midweek Throwdown. This is a very simple card using that palette, which is a little unusual. There is lots of contrast and some texture for visual interest. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH – Another Winter Animal for Midweek Throwdown

owh-mwt-natureofchristmas2

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “Snow Penguin” set
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park “Very Merry Christmas”
  • Die cuts – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Ovals” and “Resplendent Rectangles”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

I had to make another card for the Nature of Christmas Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps! The penguin stamps were calling me! So I colored this guy with Copic markers and popped him up a little bit with dimensional adhesive, along with the sentiment. I like the light blue and red with the black and white for a nicely contrasting color scheme. This could be used by our heroes as a Winter card, since there isn’t anything directly Christmas-y about it. Thanks for visiting today!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: The Nature of Christmas – Polar Bear

owh-mwt-natureofchristmas

  • Stamp – The Cat’s Pajamas “Knut” and “Cool Yule”
  • Patterned paper – My Mind’s Eye “Merry” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Die cuts – Impression Obsession – Snowflakes Die Set; Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Fifteen”
  • Gemstone – Hero Arts “Citron”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I can think of few things better than having animals on one’s Christmas cards. Just my opinion. So this week’s Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is to create a Christmas card  featuring something from nature. You can see where I immediately jumped. The Cat’s Pajamas always makes outstanding animal stamps–of course, they are often penguins which make them even more outstanding! I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Glossy Accents to the little fishing hole to make it look like water. The snowflake die cut is to convince you that it is cold there! Thanks for checking this out today!

Creative Chemistry 102 – Day 5 – Tarnished Silver Fern

cc102-Day5-TarnishedSilver-Fern

  • Die cut – made from Memory Box “Delicate Fern” die
  • Ranger Alcohol Inks – Wild Plum, Cool Peri, Eggplant, Silver Mixatives
  • Silver embossing powder
  • Clear UTEE
  • Ranger Distress Paint – Black Soot
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the tarnished silver technique from Creative Chemistry 102 at Online Card Classes for this card. It features a cut made with the gorgeous fern die from Memory Box and an alcohol ink panel. I based the color scheme on my son’s request for me to make a predominately purple card for the 365cards Pick4Me color challenge. Thanks for visiting today.

Here is a Wintery card, perfect for Operation Write Home, using the Sketch #225 at Unscripted Sketches. The strips are made from Washi tape and I added some snowflake eyelets to compliment the scene. I hadn’t set an eyelet in a really long time!  The snowman is colored with Copic markers. Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop 2013

WCDstart

Welcome to my stop on the hop! This weekend we are celebrating World Card Making Day by sharing Thank You cards created especially for Operation Write Home (OWH). We’re making cards for the troops deployed overseas to send home to their friends and families.  Handmade cards can be quite a morale booster for our deployed men and women, and Thank You cards tend to be in demand for our heroes to send home.  If you’d like to learn more about OWH, click on the banner above or go to http://operationwritehome.org/starsandstamps. Now, for my card!

owh-wcmd-bloghop13

  • Stamps – Flourishes “Botanical Bookplates, Volume 2”
  • Patterned papers – Momenta “Botanicals” 6″ X 6″ paper pad
  • Die cut made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty Two”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Copic Markers

My card is based on OWH Sketch #115, shown below. The stamped image and sentiment are both from a set from Flourishes. I colored the Lily of the Valley with Copic markers and cut it out in an interesting shape, then popped it up with dimensional adhesive. The Thank You sentiment comes from the same Flourishes clear stamp set. The colors of this card are neutrals–not very flashy so that the eye goes straight to the floral image. Thanks for your visit and enjoy the other cards in the OWH World Cardmaking Day Bloghop!
