Freshly Made Sketches #101 – Thank You

fms-101-ThankYou

  • Stamp – from Impression Obsession “Vertical Greetings” set
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park “Here and Now” collection
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I really liked this clean and simple card! The sketch is really fun, from Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #101. I gave the patterned papers a darker color backdrop to provide some contrast and then I outlined the majority of the perimeter with white pen for a little more contrast and some faux stitching. I used my favorite white pen for this which contains white acrylic paint. It doesn’t “skip” like a lot of pens and is made by Molotow, in the One4All line. The Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown this week is a challenge to make Thank You cards for our heroes to send home, so this will be perfect for that. Thanks for visiting today!

OWH Sketch #187 – Fall Leaves

owh-sketch-187

  • Stamp – Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection “Falling Leaves”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Weekend Market Collection” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • String – Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper String
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey

For this Fall card, I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps: OWH Sketch #187. I stamped two leaves from my new Tim Holtz leaf set, which I love, and then distressed it with Ranger Distress Inks and spattered with water for a nice textured effect. I’m definitely in a distress ink phase right now–I can’t seem to get enough of that look! The paper string matches the Autumn theme as well. Thanks for stopping by.

A Little Squirrely Today

  • Stamps
    • Squirrel Collage – Magenta “
    • Oak Leaves – Inkadinkado “Leaves”
    • Acorn – Impression Obsession Heart Art Studios “Acorn”
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Trail Mix Collection” 6 X 6″ paper pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ranger Distress Inks: Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Barn Door and Wild Honey

This is a birthday card for a friend who receives a squirrely card from us each year while we all go camping together. I based this card’s design on Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Sketch #69. I distressed the patterned paper with Ranger Distress Inks and spattered with water to create a background that matched the stamped leaves and acorns, which I distressed with the same ink colors. I popped up the acorn and one of the oak leaves with dimensional adhesive for a little 3-D effect. I created this card outside on a picnic table up in the mountains while camping. I had some chipmunk friends nearby, just to set the mood! Thanks for visiting today and Happy Birthday, Allyn!

PostScript: This card was selected as one of the Top Three cards created and posted using Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Sketch #69! Hurray!

OWH Midweek Throwdown – Ro Ro Ro Your Bot

owh-mwt-kids-robots

  • Stamp – Stampendous “Botz Quotz”
  • Patterned papers – Recollections “Rockets ‘n’ Space: Blast Off and Star Map”
  • Bling – Michaels Pearl Stickers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I like to make robot cards! When I saw the OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge this week was cards for kids, that was what I automatically went to for my theme! I accented the card with silver, since the robots were brightly colored. It seemed like they should have something metallic about them!  Thanks for stopping by.

Kitty Canvas

  • 5 X 5″ Canvas
  • Kitty image – Ten Two Studios (Lisa Vollrath)
  • Stencils – The Crafter’s Workshop “Quatrefoil” by Ronda Palazzari and “Halftone Borders”
  • Tissue Tape – Tim Holtz Ideology “Symphony”
  • Bling button – Melissa Frances Embellishments
  • Chipboard shape – Paper Accents “Marquee #2”
  • Rubber stamp – JudiKins “Calligraphic Flourish”
  • Patterned papers – Creative Imaginations “Beautiful You” (Christine Adolph) 6 X 6″ pad and Momenta “Botanicals” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Tissue Wrap “Terminology” Tim Holtz Ideology
  • Hearts – Studio Calico Wood Veneer
  • Acrylic paint

I created this mixed media canvas on a whim, the first one I’ve attempted. It was fun to start with a canvas and acrylic paint and then to build layers on top using papers, stencils, chipboard, rubber stamps, etc. I made the flower out of tissue tape with a little bling in the center. The image is from a set I purchased from Lisa Vollrath at Ten Two Studios. There’s very little better than dressing up a cat! Have a great day!

Clean & Simple Sketch #252 – Hello!

c&s-252-Hello

Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye Collectable Collection “Notable – Love This – Devoted” and “Remarkable – Handsome – Adorable”

Flowers – Prima – Eire Floral Collection

Sentiment stamp – Simon Says Stamp “Square Sayings” set

Border punch – Stampin Up “Scallop Edge”

Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

I just had to put together a card! It has been a full week since I’ve really done anything (or at least finished it) with paper! I liked playing with these patterned papers and this sketch. The sketch is the Clean & Simple #252. The color scheme is a little unusual for me, but I just used the multi-colored paper as my guide. Thanks for visiting today.
