Paper Players Color Challenge #231 – Valentine

paperplayers-231-valentine

  • Patterned papers – Pebbles “We Go Together: XOXO” and “I Love You”
  • Stamp – from Simon Says Stamp “Lots of Hearts” set
  • Dies – WPlus9 “Stackers Hearts”
  • Stickers – Pebbles Epoxy Hearts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I’ve been working in my art journals lately, so I want to get back into a few cards again. I used the suggested color palette in the Paper Players Color Challenge #231 for this card. I used several patterned papers from the same Pebbles collection since they were the right colors and coordinated so well. I liked stamping the patterned heart onto the patterned paper heart for this one. The patterned papers really took the lead on this one. It was a fun card to make. Thanks for visiting!

Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 4 – Day 4: Love

occ-day4-love

  • Dies – Memory Box – “Sofia Heart” and “Mini Heart Collection”
  • Simon Says Stamp – “Large Hearts Set” and “Stitched Rectangles”
  • Penny Black – “Love & Joy”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling and Neenah Solar White
  • Sequins – Doodlebug
  • Vellum

I am in the midst of the Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 4 class. During the lessons on Day 4, I was inspired by Yana Smakula and her Faux Embossing technique.  I used a number of different heart dies I have in my stash to create a fun, white-on-white background. I then attached the Love die cut on a small piece of vellum cut with the stitched rectangle die. You can still see the texture of the heart background through the vellum. I added some pearly and shiny white sequins to the background to accent the bling seen in the sentiment for a subtile and classy look. Thanks for visiting.

    • Poppy Stamps – “Ivy Tendrils”
    • Poppy Stamps – “Lovely Tendril”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

I am taking the Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 4 class right now. I’m trying to keep up in the evenings after work, although today I did fall behind. However, I did finish a card! I was inspired by Debby Hughes lesson on the faux paper cutting technique. I used a lot of dies in my collection to create this heart. It took a very long time and I learned a lot (mainly about what I’d do better next time!). It was a fun card to complete. Thanks for visiting.

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Hedgehugs”
  • Dies – Lawn Fawn “Hedgehugs” Lawn Cuts and Spellbinders Nestabilities “Lacey Ovals”
  • Patterned papers – Pebbles “We Go Together” collection: “Budding Romance” and “XOXO”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I’ve had these little Lawn Fawn hedgehog stamps in my stash for a little while and I finally got around to stamping and coloring them! I used Copic markers to give them a little color, hopefully showing enough strokes that there is an indication of little hedgehog spines. The Shopping our Stash (SOS #186) challenge this week is “Love Me Do,” requiring us to create a love-themed project. Thanks for stopping by.

Dots For You

  • Stamps – Simon Says Stamp – “Tag Sayings”
  • Dies –
    • Simon Says Stamp  “Medium Tags” and “Stitched Rectangles”
    • Memory Box “Moonlight Butterfly” and “Amira Flourish”
  • Vellum – Doodlebug Designs “Sprinkles Vellum” Lily White
  • Cardstock – Paper Accents
  • Brads – Lasting Impressions
  • Faber-Castell Gelatos

I was challenged to make a project with dots for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group challenge this week. I used vellum with white polka dots for the background. I was able to repeat the white dot with the white brads that attached the vellum and the tag. This card’s focal point consisted of four diecuts layered together. I colored some white cardstock with Gelatos prior to die-cutting the butterfly. Thanks for visiting.

What’s New? Squirrel on a String!

  • Stamps – Hero Arts –
  • Die – Simon Says Stamp – Balloons
  • Patterned papers –
    • Creative Imaginations Christine Adolph “Boho” 6 X 6″ paper pad
    • Ella & Viv Paper Company “Watercolor Paradise #8
  • Baker’s Twine – Doodlebug Designs
  • Bling – KaiserCraft – Silver mixed flowers
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Ranger Distress inks

This week, the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge is to create a project for/with something new. I decided to create a “What’s new?” card featuring a balloon die I’d never used before. The “What’s New” sentiment was my play on words. Anyway, it is a very clean and simple card and a good one for Operation Write Home as well. I colored the balloon and the squirrel with Ranger Distress inks and tied a piece of Baker’s twine around the squirrel’s paw and the balloon to help him fly it. Thanks for visiting.

CFC135 – Thanks with Felt & Sequins

CAS-Fri-135-thanks

  • Dies –
    • Sizzix – Tim Holtz Alterations “Chevron”
    • Simon Says Stamp – “Stamptember Thanks”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye – “Confetti: Celebrate Boy ‘Dots,’ ‘Harlequin’ and ‘Yellow Green’
  • Sequins – Doodlebug Designs
  • Felt

For this challenge, the CAS-ual Friday Challenge #135, I was to use felt and sequins. It is really fun to cut felt with dies–at least when you’ve got good felt. I hadn’t tried it with this Tim Holtz chevron die, but it worked well. I then used the same die to cut some polka dot paper and fit the inner pieces into the felt openings for a pretty interesting combination. The polka dot paper coordinates with the harlequin paper in the background. Then I adhered some well-matched sequins from my stash to add some interest. I chose another die cut for the sentiment, making it in a contrasting color so that it would stand out enough to be legible! Lots of angles! Thanks for visiting.

Freshly Made Sketches #167 – Love You

fms167-loveyou

  • Stamps – from Avery Elle “Oh Happy Day” set
  • Patterned paper – Pebbles “We Go Together: XOXO”
  • Die – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large”
  • Epoxy hearts – Pebbles
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

I used Sketch #167 at Freshly Made Sketches for this card today. For the focal image I used Ranger Distress Ink for the base color and then stamped the Avery Elle stamps over it with more intense colors. This is a very Clean and Simple card, with the sketch and variety of papers taking center stage. It was fun to use the little epoxy hearts to echo the patterned paper for just a small touch of interest. This will be a nice addition to my Operation Write Home shipment also! Thanks for visiting.
