- Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Polka Dots”
- Stampendous “Detail White” embossing powder

For this card, I used Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Sketch #199 as inspiration. I decided to emboss the entire background to add a little visual interest to all of that negative space. For the top square, I used patterned paper and embossed a heart I stamped with the Simon Says Stamp set, using white powder. For the second, I stamped the background with a heart pattern in the set and then over-stamped the sentiment with black ink. For the final square, I used the patterned paper for both the little envelope and the background, popping up the envelope with a bit more dimensional adhesive. Thanks for visiting.

Here is an Operation Write Home card that features pretty patterned papers, a nice textured background, and some healthy “white space” that showcases the other elements of the card. I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches (#104) for the basic design. This card is an example of using white space to draw the eye to the main design elements of this card, as described in Design Boot Camp at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. Since I tend toward simpler cards, I enjoy using white space as it can really give the eye a rest. Thanks for stopping by–I know it has been a while since I’ve posted. I’ll try to turn that around!

Here is another card for my OWH box, which I should send off pretty soon. I made it for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge this week to use a red, white, blue and Kraft color scheme on a card. I created a simple design with some a little bit of texture to enhance it. I like the contrast you get with this color scheme. Didn’t get it posted in time for the 4th! Have a great day!

I do like to work with challenges that provide a recipe to work from! This week’s Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown challenge was to use the following recipe:
- Two patterned papers
- One embossing folder
- One border punch
- Ribbon or twine
As is typical for me, it is well past mid-week–but I’m still up for the challenge! The design is simple and linear, showing off the different textures and patterns across the card. This will be a nice birthday card for a hero to send home. Thanks for visiting!
