365 Cards – Day 180 – Stand-out Stripes

  • Die Cuts – Made with Memory Box “Cherry Blossom” die set and Just Rite Custom Dies (Spellbinders) “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Embossing folder – Stampin’ Up “Textured Impressions Stripes”
  • Border Punch – Stampin’ Up Scallop Edge
  • Patterned paper – Echo Park Paper “Dots & Stripes” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Ribbon – May Arts
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This card features stripes on both the paper and the embossing folder. The Day 180 challenge at 365 Cards is to create a card with stripes. The color combination is not one that I would have normally chosen, but it is bright, cheery, and what I had in my on-the-road stash. I used some new dies for this card. The Memory Box floral set has the flower and two centers to build flowers in a variety of colors. The label die is also new to me and I look forward to using a Just Rite stamp set that fits in this die set as well. Too much fun! I’m trying to make quite a few general cards for OWH, so they can be used for any occasion, so this will be handy for that. Thanks for visiting today.

CPS Sketch #280 – Dreamy Floral

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Dreamy”
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Out of Print” collection (6 X 6″ pad)
  • Cardstock – WorldWin
  • Black rickrack
  • Embossing powder – Stampendous “Detail Black”

I made this 6 X 6″ square card using inspiration from CPS Sketch #280. I heat embossed the flower with detail black embossing powder to create a crisp, shiny image. I repeated the black in some of the accent papers to pull the card together. Thanks for stopping by today.

Freshly Made Sketches #49 – Just Because

  • Stamps – Basic Grey “Curio Bitsy ” clear set and Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Punch – EK Success “Flower Power” Paper Shaper punch
  • Pearl Pen – Viva Decor – Black (centers of flowers)
  • Patterned paper – Carta Bella “Beautiful Moments” collection
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I really like square cards, so this sketch caught my eye. It is Freshly Made Sketches #49. I combined stamped images with punched flowers to make the border images. The flower centers are made with black Pearl Pen, which is one of my new obsessions. This will be a perfect OWH card for a Hero who just wants to send a card for no particular reason. Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas – Oregon State Fair – 2nd Place Winner

  • Stamp – Penny Black “Christmas Text”
  • Patterned papers – Melissa Frances “Kisses Under the Holly” and Basic Grey “Jovial: Crushed Velvet”
  • Gems – Memory Box “Berry Pearls”
  • Distress Inks
  • Border punch – Martha Stewart “Garden Rail”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I created this card with the central focus being on the Christmas greens featured on this Penny Black stamp. I applied Distress inks in greens and reds to the edge of the stamped image and added the pearls as accents. This card won second place at the Oregon State Fair this summer. Thanks for stopping by.

Unscripted Sketches #172 – Flying By

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn, “Flying By”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “Reunion”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill
  • Cardstock trim – Bazzill “Raven Half the Edge”
  • Twine

I went to Unscripted Sketches for inspiration for this card. This is Unscripted Sketches Sketch #172 featuring the Lawn Fawn “Flying By” paper airplane stamp set, which is very fun. I stamped the airplanes on patterned papers and cut them out and mounted them with dimensional adhesive on the card front, also popping up the sentiment. I used the sketch and the Piggyback color challenge also featured for this week’s challenge. Enjoy your day and please stop by again soon.

OWH – Midweek Throwdown: Kraft + Cardstock Challenge

  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Woodland Oak Leaves”
  • Border Punch – E K Success “Fleur de Lis”
  • Cardstock – Bob Bunny Back to Backs

I made this card for the current Midweek Throwdown Challenge at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. The challenge was to use Kraft cardstock and add a couple of colors to jazz it up. I have color in my image and the green dotted card base. I used Ranger Distress Inks for the image and spritzed it with water to give it a watercolor effect. I like that look with leaves. Just a simple note card for a hero to send home for any occasion. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH – Sketch #132 – Watercolor Flower

  • Stamp – Memory Box “Whisper Print Daisy”
  • Patterned papers – My Mind’s Eye “29th Street Market Carefree Graceful” collection
  • Watercolor paper
  • Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Markers

I used the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Sketch #132 for this card. The dimensions worked well for this stamp, which I purchased recently. I love Memory Box stamps and die cuts. They are a Seattle company and I really like supporting companies from the Northwest. Their products are very high quality. So I used Distress Markers to color the stamp and then spritzed it with water for the watercolor effect. I edged all of the cut paper pieces with Color Box Chalk Ink to tie everything together. Thanks for visiting!

You are my sunshine – Unscripted Sketches #168

  • Stamps – Darcie’s “Here Comes the Sun” cling set
  • Patterned papers – SEI “Bright Blossom” collection
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a very simple, bright card. The sketch is from Unscripted Sketches #168.  I’ve had very limited creating time, so I had to keep it simple and wanted cheery! This is a nice stamp set for cheery and it will be a nice card to send in my next Operation Write Home box. Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for the visit!

Clean and Simple Sketch #199 – Birthday Pinwheels

  • Stamps – Pebbles “Hip Hip Hooray” clear set
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

This is a super simple card using Sketch #199 over at Clean and Simple Stamping. I really like the pinwheels and it will be perfect for a friend of my son who is celebrating his birthday tomorrow. Enjoy your day!

Stretch Your Stamps – Day 9 – Missing You

  • Stamps – all from Hero Arts OWH set, “Right at Home”
  • Patterned cardstock – BoBunny
  • Cardstock – WorldWin and Bazzill
  • Embossing powders – Detail white and black – Stampendous

I made this card with inspiration from the Online Card Classes “Stretch You Stamps” class I’m taking. The lesson for Lesson 9 is to use outline stamps, and in this case I embossed various stamped images and put them together. I used the Operation Write Home stamp set from Hero Arts for all of the images. I used complimentary colors (red and green) for some of the main parts of the card, which was our Midweek Throwdown Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps this week. This is a perfect card for a hero to send home. Thanks for visiting today.
