Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #53

  • Digital image – Dover Publishing
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Decorative Tile Set”
  • Patterned papers – SEI Entrada Collection: “Beni Savanna, Goblet, and Etosha Plain”
  • Dies – Spellbinders Nestabilities “Standard Circles Large”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Pens – Sakura Gelly Roll Sparkle Pens

I created this card using the current sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for Challenge #53. I recently purchased some really nice SEI papers with copper foil in the patterns. It seemed perfect for the background strips for this sketch. I added sparkle to the digital image as well, but coloring the butterfly with the Sakura sparkly gel pens. I added some additional sparkle around the image with some faux stitched dots. Thanks for visiting today.

365 Cards – Day 179 – Butterflies

  • Butterfly Stamps – Hero Arts “Sweet Butterflies”
  • Sentiment Stamp – Stampin’ Up “Sincere Salutations”
  • Corner punch – Kreaxions
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the 365 Cards Sketch for Day 179 for inspiration for this card. It is really simple, with the set of four butterflies colored with gel pens to give them some sparkle. I punched them with a circle punch and then punched another circle for each in navy blue cardstock and popped them up with dimensional adhesive. This gave them a little drop shadow. Punched the top corners and made a banner for the sentiment and that’s it! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for visiting today!

365 Cards – Day 183 – Pick-A-Pattern/OWH Masculine Challenge

  • Stamp – KaiserCraft “TigerLily”
  • Die cut – Made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Two”
  • Patterned papers – Studio Calico “Classic Calico Collection” (houndstooth) and Echo Park Paper “Dots & Stripes” 6 X 6″ pad (polka dots)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Corner punch – Marvy Uchida

This is another masculine designed card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Masculine Challenge. I distressed the edges of the papers with Ranger Distress Inks and used browns and deep reds for the color pallet. This card also is in response to the 365 cards Day 183 Challenge – Pick-A-Pattern. I chose houndstooth and polka dots for my two patterns to combine. I made up the “sketch” as I went on this one! Thanks for visiting!

I was chosen to be a Spotlight Designer on 365 Cards for this card! Cool!

OWH Midweek Throwdown: Happy Anniversary

  • Stamps – Hampton Art “Windowpane Monarch” and A Muse Artstamps “”Happy Anniversary”
  • Patterned paper – Memory Box “Waltzing Matilda”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and American Crafts

I made this card for the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown Challenge for anniversary cards. I used an OWH bonus sketch from the My Country/Mit Land Blog Hop we just had this past weekend. This particular sketch is featured on OWH President Sandy Allnock’s “I Can’t Stop Embellishing” blog. The sketch is a little bit different when it comes to its construction, so I had to study it for a while before I built it! And I just had to use MORE butterflies, since I’m kind of on a roll with butterflies these days! Thanks for stopping by today!

OWH Sketch #127 – May All Your Dreams Come True

  • Stamps – Memory Box “Dotty Butterfly” and Penny Black “Sweet Wishes”
  • Patterned paper – Teresa Collins “Everyday Moments” collection
  • Ribbon – American Crafts

For this card I used the current sketch at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps: Sketch #127. It lends itself well to showing off some pretty patterned papers in the larger block, but you can still have a smaller image as the focal point (and in this case, the sentiment). And I’ve slipped another butterfly in! Have a great day and I’ll see you soon.

OWH Blue & Yellow Challenge – Another Butterfly

  • Stamp – Stampington & Co. “Scripted Butterfly” and Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Patterned paper – Teresa Collins “Everyday Moments: Blue Scroll”
  • Border Punch – Martha Stewart “Woodland Branch”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is one of my favorite stamps–and I’ve had it for years! This is the first time I have colored it with Copic markers and I liked the way they allow me to add some subtile shading in the broad areas of color in the background. I do like the yellow and blue combination and using them was the Midweek Throwdown Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps this week. Thanks for checking-in today and I’ll see you again, most likely with more butterflies!

Clean and Simple Sketch #194: Butterfly

  • Butterfly die cut – SEI “Field Notes: The Sample Box”
  • Stamp – from Stampin’ Up “Sincere Salutations” set
  • Patterned paper – from SEI “Bright Blossom” collection
  • Border punch – EK Success “Diamond Lace” edger
  • Cardstock – DCWV Solid Glitter Yellow and Bazzill Basics

I’m going through a butterfly phase here! This isn’t the last one either–another butterfly card is in the works! I really liked this sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping: Sketch #194. I enjoyed looking at the sketch and putting the pieces together to fit it. This card is in the mail to a magician friend who is under the weather. We hope it cheers Tom up. Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH – Our Daily Bread Designs June Challenge

  • Die cuts made with:
  •      Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Twenty”
  •      Memory Box “Darla Butterfly” and “Vivienne Butterfly”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny patterned cardstock and Bazzill solid and textured cardstock

For finishing touches, I drew dotted line around the perimeter of the navy blue layer. The two butterfly die cuts, made with dies from Memory Box, fit together. I used the more detailed die cut as the top layer that looks like it is resting on the card and preparing to fly away.

This was an unusual stretch for me. The challenge was to make a non-standard, shaped card: one that isn’t a rectangle or square. I used die cuts for almost all aspects of this card, which I ended up really liking! For every 25 cards made for this challenge over at OWH, Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) will pay for shipping of one box of cards to the troops. This is a huge help to OWH, as shipping can really add up. The OWH – ODBD June challenge continues through the end of the month. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH Sketch Challenge #124 – Butterfly

  • Stamp – Stampington & Company “Printed Butterfly”
  • Patterned papers – Heidi Grace Designs Only Time collection: “Mini Floral” and “London Eye”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Fiber – Creative Impressions “Summer Textures”

I took the latest sketch challenge at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps to make this card: Sketch Challenge #124. I’ve had the patterned paper collection for some time, so it was nice to use a couple of the patterns for this. Thanks for stopping by today.

OWH – Using Scraps – “You’re the Best”

  • Die cut – SEI “Field Notes: The Sample Box”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Cardstock – BoBunny dots (scraps!)
  • Trim from stash

This was a very simple card that I made from some of my many scrap pieces of cardstock and a few little extras! Over at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps, we are challenging ourselves to use up some of our extra scraps and put them to good use on cards. There is a OWH tutorial to give you a little direction along these lines as well! So let this be a challenge to you: go forth and use up some of those precious scraps! I will post more cards using up left-overs here as well. Thanks for stopping by today!
