In my constant endeavor to find something positive in this highly unusual (okay, CRAZY!) year, at least we have a day dedicated to making cards! Right? So I spent today making a few gel plate prints and then I made three cards with some of them. Here’s what I did.
Above you can see the prints I made, using leaves from plants growing in my yard. Nothing exotic, to be sure! The difference in this gel printing experiment is that I used mini Distress Ink cubes direct to the gel plate to create kind of a geometric pattern. I didn’t brayer the ink out, but left it for a more distinct pattern.
I then placed the leaves on top of the inked plate and then pressed the paper over. Then I removed the paper and the leaves and replaced the paper, lining the paper onto the plate as it was before. This partially defined the leaves with remaining ink.

I used sentiment dies respectively, from Sizzix, Elizabeth Craft Designs, and My Favorite Things. I layered the prints with cardstock and added some sequins. The center card also has ribbon and a border made with an EK Success “Fleur de Lis” border punch. I definitely shopped my stash with these cards!

Yesterday was National Coffee Day, but I wasn’t quick enough to post the card I made to celebrate coffee. It was fun to make a little scene with multiple stamp sets, and of course, to include lots of critters. I pulled mice from three different sets (and there are more!).
Here’s what I used:

I colored each mouse with Copic markers and used Distress Inks to color the mug and sentiment background. I lightly inked the Tim Holtz stamp and spritzed it with water to stamp a light pattern onto the mug (see below).

I couldn’t wait to make this birthday card for my son! He turned 22 on Friday, but he still likes cute animals! Plus he will forever be known as “Chipmunk” from his YMCA camp counselor days, so all things squirrely seem appropriate!
The fun thing about this card is the way that by using this die to cut the trees, you can hide surprises behind the flaps (in this case, more squirrels!), to make it interactive.
I used the Lawn Fawn Let’s Go Nuts stamp and die sets and the Lift the Flap Tree Backdrop die.
I did some simple ink blending with Distress inks for the background prior to adhering the trees. I used Broken China for the top of the sky and then blended Pine Needles, Brushed Corduroy and Broken China at the bottom. The sentiment is Squeezed Lemonade and Fired Brick.
I blended some Ground Espresso ink on the trees on the backdrop to make some subtle shadows. I colored the squirrels, wagon and acorn with Copic markers and created my scene by adhering everybody in the nooks and crannies and around the trees.

I had some fun with Lawn Fawn products today! All of the mice in their stamp designs are irresistible! I combined two different mouse-centric sets and three additional die sets as I put together this happy summer scene. And with a slimline card, you have lots of room to build! I colored all of the elements with Copic markers. Maybe today is a good day for a picnic, what do you think?

I created this card for a class I’m teaching at Runaway Art and Craft Studio in Salem, Oregon. This mouse is so cute and I loved making it the star of this card! It was fun to color the balloons to match the colors on the rainbow stripes of the paper. All of the balloons and the mouse are colored with Copic markers. I cut the rainbow paper in a narrow strip, halved it and adhered it to both sides of the card base. It gave it a really different look. I added the enamel dots by the sentiment, stamped at a jaunty angle, to finish off the card. Thanks for stopping by!

I have really enjoyed making Valentines this year. I sent this one to my mom. I had a good time mixing and matching different products together to make this card. The main attraction is such a pretty leafy heart die from Memory Box! I look forward to making some other non-Valentine cards with it as well.

This card was really fun to make. I sent it off with a care package to my son, who is a college student in need of chocolate!
I created the little heart shaker tag first, using the Lawn Fawn die set, and filling it with sequins and beads. I cut out hearts using another Lawn Fawn die set, one to layer the tag onto and the other for the light blue heart-shaped window. I then stamped the puffin, fish and hearts, then die cut it, then colored them with Copic markers. I adhered the stamped images on top of the shaker window, then attached the tag to the deep pink heart with a brad that I’ve had in my stash for over a decade! The tag allows the tag to swing a little bit so the beads and sequins shift around when shaken.
I added the patterned paper inside the window and layered the rest on top, finishing it with the sentiment. Here’s a closer look at the details:

I had a lot of fun coloring this adorable Penny Black image, watercoloring it with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I highlighted the stars with a gold metallic Sparkle Pop pen. Once dry, I framed the image with the frame that fits it perfectly. I added the stamped and heat-embossed sentiment at the bottom of the card. Thanks for stopping by.

I really like this snow globe die set from Lawn Fawn! You can make adorable gift tags with it, but I had fun using the globe as a focal point on this simple card front. For the layout of this card, I used a sketch featured in CAS(E) this Sketch #350 challenge. I combined two small prints on the patterned papers for a little spice and tied a ribbon through the tag to keep it authentic. Thanks for stopping by.
I created this following the sketch for this month’s Inky Paws Challenge 111 on the Newton’s Nook blog. I really liked the layout of this sketch so when I saw it I knew I had to make a card! I colored the kitty with Copic markers and heat embossed some green cardstock with gold embossing powder for some elegant pattern. The really fun thing about this is that I attached an Action Wobble to the cat–so he wiggles! See below for a wiggly video! The small things in life make me happy!
