This was a simple card inspired by Sketch #148 at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps. I hand-cut a heart to emulate a tag. The paper served as a nice backdrop and the lovely May Arts heart ribbon really set off the card. Another Valentine for the troops! Thanks for visiting.
This is a really simple take on Sketch #186 at Unscripted Sketches. I’ve been wanting to use this American Crafts heart garland on a card, and this sketch fit the bill. I created a background with Distress Inks in the pinks and browns to match the stamped images. I’m making Valentines and love cards for Operation Write Home now, so the troops overseas have some nice cards to send home. Thanks for visiting!
I used iridescent papers to create this iris fold card–It is very sparkly! I used the sketch over at Unscripted Sketches #185 for inspiration. The piggyback challenge for this sketch is to use dry embossing–and I chose embossed paper (Bazzill dots) for a nice texture. I colored the stamped kitty pair with Copic markers and then cut them out (also known as fussy cutting!) to pop them up against the embossed background. I added a scrap of patterned paper from my stash and a strip of ribbon across to add more hearts. Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps had a tutorial and challenge this week for Fussy Cutting, so I created this card, testing out my cutting skills. ‘Tis the season for creating lots of valentines for the troops to mail home. I used Sketch #144 at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps for this thank you card. The color scheme is in response to 365 Cards Day 247 Color Challenge. This color scheme was a little bit of a stretch for me, but that’s why they call it a challenge! I repeated the swirl motif in the texture of the embossing folder and the BoBunny cardstock. I used a lovely crocus stamp from Flourishes for this card. I colored the image with Copic markers first, and then added colored pencil for highlights and additional shading. I layered the die cut ovals for an elegant look. This week’s Midweek Throwdown Challenge at OWH was to make an anniversary card, so this technique worked well for such a card. Thanks for visiting.
This is one of my first Christmas cards for Operation Write Home. We need to ship our Christmas cards early in order for our overseas heroes to send cards home for their families. This is a fun one with lots of color and Santa, so I’m hoping it is cheery for both the sender and the recipient! I used the sketch #141 at OWH Stars and Stamps and stamps from The Cats Pajamas. I used Sketch #139 at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps to make this card. It was fun to use this owl set and kind of match up the colors with the papers. I colored the owl and branch with Copic markers and popped up the owl oval with dimensional adhesive. I rounded the top corners of the card base to repeat the rounded corners on the die cut.
