OWH – Things with wings

  • Stamp – Printworks “Wonderful”
  • Die cut – Nestabilities “Butterflies”
  • Patterned paper – Three Bugs in a Rug “Springtime”
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling
  • Ribbon – Offray

I embossed the butterfly die-cut and stippled chalk ink onto it using the die as a stencil to add some color to the butterfly. Kind of a lot of colors going on it, but I guess that makes it cheery.

This card is for Operation Write Home and was made as part of the “Things with wings” challenge. I think about half of the cards I make have butterflies! One remarkable thing that has occurred this week is that the Operation Write Home organization has now officially processed over ONE MILLION cards! This will be one of the second million that they ship out to the troops! Thanks for visiting.

Floral Frame Card

  • Floral frame – digital art designed by Catherine Scanlon – I painted it with Twinkling H2Os for some color and sparkle. Cut the frame out and popped up some of the flowers.
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Bling
  • Embossing folder – Cuttlebug “Kassie’s Brocade”
  • Patterned paper – Kaisercraft “Chanteuse Collection”
  • Sentiment stamp – Northwoods Inc.

I made this card as part of an online class I’m taking from My Creative Classroom, taught by Catherine Scanlon. The class covers different cards using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. Unfortunately my timing for the class isn’t the best as I don’t have much free time for creating. It is fun anyway.

OWH – Origami Necktie Father’s Day Challenge

These cards were made using the Origami necktie tutorial at Operation Write Home Stars & Stripes blog. There is a shortage of Father’s Day cards going over to the troops, so the challenge is to make at least 5 necktie cards and send them off to the shippers. My son, Trenton, is a master at Origami, so he made all of the ties and I made the shirts and put them together! Teamwork! Here is a closer look at a couple of them:

  • Origami paper – Aitoh rice paper
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Brads – star and screw brads by Creative Impressions, Inc., mini-buttons by Making Memories, other brads by American Crafts and Lasting Impressions

Thanks for helping out, Trenton!
