OWH Midweek Throwdown – Raccoon

  • Stamps – Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Forest” set
  • Patterned papers – Fancy Pants Designs “Country Boutique” 6 X 6″ pad
  • Die cut – made from Spellbinders Nestabilities “Classic Scalloped Squares Large”
  • Baker’s twine
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge this week, which is to make a kid’s card with scallops. OWH is featuring Lawn Fawn stamps this week, so I decided to pull out this set from my stash and use the raccoon. I colored the log and raccoon with Copic markers and mounted it on the scalloped square die cut. Thanks for stopping by!

OWH – Sketch 136 & 365 Cards Day 189 Challenge

  • Stamps – Technique Tuesday “Kickin’ It” and See D’s “Sports” sets
  • Patterned papers – Echo Park Paper “For the Record 2″ 6 X 6” pad
  • Cardstock – WorldWin

This is a fun kid’s card for a soccer player. The sketch is the OWH Sketch #136, the current one at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps. This also fulfills the Day 189 Challenge at 365 Cards, which is to make a “sporty” card. I edged the soccer balls and sentiment with lime green chalk ink to tie those pieces together and popped them up with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for the visit!

365 Cards – Mirror Image – Tree Reflection

  • Stamp – Memory Box “Tree Border”
  • Patterned cardstock – BoBunny “Powder Blue Vintage,”Powder Blue Flourish”
  • Pearls – Prima “Say it in Pearls: Slip Center Grey”
  • Patterned paper – Melissa Frances “Betty Ann”

This card featured my first real mirrored image attempt for the 365 cards Day 185 challenge: Mirror Image. I used the Memory Box “Tree Border” stamp and the watercolor technique with Distress Inks. I stamped with a Distress Ink pad and then touched up the stamp (direct to rubber) with a couple more colors of Distress Ink Markers. Then I gave it a little spritz of water and stamped onto watercolor paper for the reflected portion of the image. I used the same stamp to stamp the top image with VersaFine ink. The sketch I used is the current one at Freshly Made Sketches: #50. I really liked this sketch–it was really perfect to display the image. Thanks for visiting. I have now officially finished one full week of challenges at 365 Cards! Hurray!

365 Cards – Day 184 – Color Combo – Woodland Animals

  • Patterned paper – American Crafts – “Campy Trails” collection (animals and background pattern)
  • Border punch – EK Success “Argyle”
  • Corner punch – Marvy Uchida
  • Cardstock – BoBunny and Bazzill

For the 365 Cards Color Combo Challenge for Day 184, we were to use these colors:

I chose images from some fun American Crafts “campy” papers I’ve had for a while. The colors fit perfectly and it will make a fun card for a kid in my Operation Write Home box. I trimmed out the animals and popped them up with little fanfare. They seem to speak for themselves! Enjoy your day!

365 Cards – Day 181 – Gotta Have It: Squirrels!

  • Stamp – Memory Box “2 Squirrels”
  • Paper – Basic Grey “Hello Luscious: Honeyed”
  • Die cuts – made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Nine”
  • Border punch – Fiskars
  • Patterned cardstock – BoBunny “Flourish” and “Journal”

This challenge was all about something I had to have! It was at 365 Cards for Day 181: Gotta Have it this week. When I read the challenge the first time, I immediately thought of cardmaking supplies! Every couple of month the local stamping store has an open house where the owner features new products and fun items. I often have those “gotta have it” moments then–and I do seem to have a thing for squirrels! I figure there are worse vices, right? Anyway, when I saw the stamp with these squirrels from Memory Box, I said “I’ve got to have it!”  The stamp has each squirrel on different sides of the wood mount, so you can choose to use one or both, in any configuration. Flexibility in squirrel stamping–always important! I colored them with Copic markers and layered them with some favorite papers, adding some faux stitching dots around the image. Simple and fun. Thanks for the visit today!

365 Cards – Day 179 – Butterflies

  • Butterfly Stamps – Hero Arts “Sweet Butterflies”
  • Sentiment Stamp – Stampin’ Up “Sincere Salutations”
  • Corner punch – Kreaxions
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I used the 365 Cards Sketch for Day 179 for inspiration for this card. It is really simple, with the set of four butterflies colored with gel pens to give them some sparkle. I punched them with a circle punch and then punched another circle for each in navy blue cardstock and popped them up with dimensional adhesive. This gave them a little drop shadow. Punched the top corners and made a banner for the sentiment and that’s it! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for visiting today!

365 Cards – Day 183 – Pick-A-Pattern/OWH Masculine Challenge

  • Stamp – KaiserCraft “TigerLily”
  • Die cut – Made with Spellbinders Nestabilities “Labels Two”
  • Patterned papers – Studio Calico “Classic Calico Collection” (houndstooth) and Echo Park Paper “Dots & Stripes” 6 X 6″ pad (polka dots)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Corner punch – Marvy Uchida

This is another masculine designed card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Masculine Challenge. I distressed the edges of the papers with Ranger Distress Inks and used browns and deep reds for the color pallet. This card also is in response to the 365 cards Day 183 Challenge – Pick-A-Pattern. I chose houndstooth and polka dots for my two patterns to combine. I made up the “sketch” as I went on this one! Thanks for visiting!

I was chosen to be a Spotlight Designer on 365 Cards for this card! Cool!

Mojo Monday Sketch #256 – Iris

  • Stamps – JustRite “Botanical Medallions & Banners”
  • Die cut – made with JustRite (Spellbinders) “Nested Oval Medallion Labels”
  • Patterned paper – SEI “Silver Valley” – 6 X 6″ pad
  • Embossing folder – Sizzix “Damask and Regal Flourishes” Texture Fades
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and WorldWin
  • Pearls made with Viva Decor Pearl Pen – Silver Chrome

This card features stamped images from JustRite and the nifty dies that match the stamps (or vice versa!). I stamped both the irises and the frame with this set. I colored the irises with Copic markers, popped them up with dimensional adhesive, and accented the frame with pearls made with my handy dandy silver pearl pen. Pearl pens are my favorite supply right now!  The sketch is this week’s from Mojo Monday Sketch #256. The card base is metallic silver from Bazzill, which sets off the silver in the patterned paper and the pearls. Thanks for visiting.

365 Cards – Day 182 – Textured Leaf

  • Stamp – Inkadinkado “Leaves” clear mini set
  • Textured cardstock – Bazzill Two Scoops “Orange Sorbet”
  • Patterned paper – 7Gypsies “Antiquaries Postale Collection: Parcel” and Echo Park Paper – “Dots & Stripes”
  • Rhinestones – from Queen and Company “Halloween” Rhinestone Trios
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I combined a couple of challenges to make this card. I stamped this leaf on textured paper, which can be kind of tricky if you have much detail in your stamp. Stamping on texture is the Day 182 challenge at 365 Cards. I wanted to put together a card that could be considered masculine, and general in theme, for Operation Write Home. All occasion cards are always needed and this one could be used for a variety of reasons. The OWH Midweek Throwdown this week is to make “masculine” cards, so hopefully the little bit of bling is downplayed enough! Thanks for stopping by!

CDAC Progressive Challenge – Surf’s Up

  • Digital image – Tiffany Doodles
  • Stamp – Hero Arts
  • Patterned paper – BoBunny “Sun Kissed Stripe”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Sandpaper

I made this card with the first image in this round of the Crafter’s Digital Art Center’s Progressive Challenge. The digital “stamp” was created by Tiffany Doodles, and I colored it with Copic markers and added some sandpaper for the sand. Just a fun card that will be shipped off to OWH so that a soldier can send a bright “hello” to someone. Thanks for visiting.
