The Midweek Throwdown challenge today at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is Love and Hugs cards for our heroes. Then, over at 365 Cards, Day 278’s challenge is to create with Polka Dots. So I’ve done a combined effort with this simple card. I used the image from one sheet of KaiserCraft paper and die cut the polka dots from another sheet from the same collection. I popped up the image and accented the corners with hearts and pearls. That’s it! Didn’t use a single ink pad on this one! Have a great day and thanks for visiting.
This was a simple card inspired by Sketch #148 at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps. I hand-cut a heart to emulate a tag. The paper served as a nice backdrop and the lovely May Arts heart ribbon really set off the card. Another Valentine for the troops! Thanks for visiting.
This is a really simple take on Sketch #186 at Unscripted Sketches. I’ve been wanting to use this American Crafts heart garland on a card, and this sketch fit the bill. I created a background with Distress Inks in the pinks and browns to match the stamped images. I’m making Valentines and love cards for Operation Write Home now, so the troops overseas have some nice cards to send home. Thanks for visiting!
I used iridescent papers to create this iris fold card–It is very sparkly! I used the sketch over at Unscripted Sketches #185 for inspiration. The piggyback challenge for this sketch is to use dry embossing–and I chose embossed paper (Bazzill dots) for a nice texture. This will be a nice Valentine for Operation Write Home–to send over to the troops for them to send home. Thanks for visiting today.
I colored the stamped kitty pair with Copic markers and then cut them out (also known as fussy cutting!) to pop them up against the embossed background. I added a scrap of patterned paper from my stash and a strip of ribbon across to add more hearts. Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps had a tutorial and challenge this week for Fussy Cutting, so I created this card, testing out my cutting skills. ‘Tis the season for creating lots of valentines for the troops to mail home. I made this card at the request of Lisa, the owner of Stampin’ Cat Studio. It will be one of many cards featured in the store showcasing new products at the open house there (called “What’s New, Pussycat?”). I used white embossing powder on white cardstock. I rubbed four different colors of Colorbox Chalk Ink over the image, blending the colors together. Then I trimmed it and mounted it on cardstock, popping it up with dimensional adhesive over a color-blocked background. Super simple, but lots of texture. I made this card after visiting the Operation Write Home Happy Hour Blog Skip that showcased the Hero Arts newly released stamps. There was lots of inspiration as I hopped through the different blogs. I was particularly intrigued by the shape of card base of the card created by Julie at “Handmade by Julie.” Her card inspired me to make this Valentine to ship off someone overseas so that they can send it home to a loved one.
