We landlubbers are in the midst of a virtual cardmaking party (VCMP) while some of the other OWHers are on a cardmaking cruise. This challenge is one of the first of many: OWH VCMP Challenge #2: Nautical Masculine Card Challenge. I’ve had this stamp set for a while and hadn’t had an opportunity to use it! For some reason I had a thing for that crab! This card can be used for any occasion or just for a note home. Thanks for checking in!

Winner! OWH Clean & Simple BlogSkip!

Congratulations to Misty, who blogs at http://deliteful-gifts.blogspot.com. She won blog candy here in the random drawing from the OWH Clean & Simple Blog Skip. She will be receiving a little kit for trying out the Distress Ink technique I posted for the Skip. Thanks to everyone who made the Skip such a success! I hope you have a chance to try out some of the clean and simple techniques.

OWH – Clean & Simple Blog Skip

  • Stamps – Memory Box “Tree Border” and Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” clear stamps
  • Distress Inks – Ranger in the following colors: Everygreen Bough, Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint, Iced Spruce, and Broken China
  • Detail White Embossing Powder – Stampendous
  • Corner Punch – Marvy Uchida
  • Watercolor paper
  • Perfect Pearls Mist in Biscotti
  • Cardstock – Bazzill and BoBunny

Welcome to the last stop on today’s OWH Blog Skip! I hope you’ve enjoyed all of the clean and simple techniques we learned from the Online Card Classes “Clean and Simple” class. What a great class! I created this card in a techniques lesson about Watercolor Blocking. This technique works very well with Distress Inks and water or Perfect Pearls Mists. I first heat embossed the stamped images in Detail White and then watercolor blocked over with the Distress Inks on water-saturated ink blending foam pads. For more cards I created in the class, click on the thumbnails at the bottom of this post. Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave a comment for a chance to win a bit of blog candy from me and a chance to win Online Card Classes or other prizes just for skipping today. Make sure you leave your email address when you leave your comment and I’ll draw a random winner on Monday! To return to OWH Stars and Stamps, Click here.

I must say that I’m really excited because I just received my first “thank you” email from an Air Force Major in Afghanastan–just as I was posting this! I’m so thrilled to have received a personal note. It makes what we do mean even more!

OWH – Die-cuts Challenge

  • Die cuts – Made from Memory Box “Valerian Flourish” and “Sofia Heart” steel craft dies
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Live Life” clear set
  • Patterned papers – K&Company “Classic K Bailey Mat Pad

I made this card as a sample card for the February 1st Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps. I love the Memory Box dies that have come on the market in recent times; these have such intricate detail! The diecuts are really the centerpiece and I popped-up the sentiment and added some faux stitching around the edges to finish it off. Thanks for visiting and be sure to participate in the challenge.

OWH – Sketch #106

I used the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Sketch #106 to create this card. It features a digital image that is part of the current Crafter’s Digital Art Center Progressive Freebie Challenge. This particular image is from Digis by Phooka. I’ve been just waiting to use the twine on a card that I got fairly recently from the Cat’s Pajamas. Thanks for visiting!

Cardmaking Friends – January Sketch Challenge

  • Patterned paper – Graphic 45, “Tropical Travelogue Colllection: Rainforest”
  • Stamps – Northwood Stamps “Capital For You” and Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” (little sprig)
  • Cardstock – Bazzill
  • Die cut – Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Fancy Tags”
  • Ribbon – Offray

This is a very simple sketch a group of us challenged ourselves to use. Sometimes the simpler the sketch, the more challenging it is! The tropical patterned paper here is the star, to be sure. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday Sketch #225

  • Stamps – Hero Arts “Scattered Leaves” clear set
  • Cardstock – Bazzill Basics, Bazzill Dots and Worldwin
  • ColorBox Chalk Ink: Charcoal

I made a simple, color-blocked card with this fun sketch from Mojo Monday this week: Mojo Monday Sketch #225. The images in the Hero Arts set lended themselves well to the design and once I stamped each piece, I simply edged them with ColorBox Chalk charcoal ink. I popped each piece up with double-sided tape and Voila! Thanks for visiting.

OWH – Sketch #105

  • Die cut – Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Ironwork Motifs”
  • Stamp – Kodomo, Inc. “Thank You”
  • Patterned papers – K & Company “Verbena & Peabody” Paper Pad
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I was inspired by the current sketch over at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps: Sketch #105, when I made this card. This is a very simple design that showcases the pretty die cut. I was able to use some paper I’ve had for quite awhile, which is always a good thing. Thanks for stopping by.

Clean & Simple Class – Day 3 – Die Cuts

  • Die cuts – made from Memory Box “Vivienne Butterfly”
  • Stamp – Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

This is a very simple card. I layered two butterflies cut from the same cardstock as the base card and glued them together. I also did the same with a strip of cardstock that ran vertically along the right-hand side. Then I heat embossed the sentiment at the bottom. These lacey die cuts make the effect of the monocromatic card work really well. Thanks for visiting today.

OWH – Color Challenge: B&W+One

  • Stamps – Inkadinkado “Upsy Daisy” and Hero Arts “Everyday Sayings” clear set
  • Patterned papers – Basic Grey “Little Black Dress” collection
  • Flower brad – Chatterbox “Artsy.Licious Fabulour Brads”
  • Cardstock – Bazzill

I made this card for the OWH Color Challenge: Black and White with a splash of another color. I used a bright pink accent with the black and white papers for lots of contrast. I really like the formula of black and white plus one–it always looks very elegant. Thanks for visiting.
