For this simple card, the main attraction is the orchid. This is such a beautiful stamp set from Flourishes! I stamped it and then went in with Zig Clean Color markers and a waterbrush to color the image. I added the sentiment, still keeping it simple and elegant. I layered the main image with a subtle patterned paper and a simple embossed white layer, then adhered the whole shebang onto pink cardstock. I made this card for a close friend who recently lost her husband. Thanks for visiting.

- Patterned paper – KaiserCraft “Mister Fox Collection”
- Watercolor paper – Strathmore cold press

- Ink pads – Versafine “Onyx Black” and “Satin Red”
- Zig Clean Color markers
I stamped the bear and his accessories in Versafine ink. He’s quite dapper! I always like dressing up cute animals! That’s why it so appropriately fits the bill for Week 253 Challenge at Casology: Clothes. I added color to the bear and the stamped sentiment with Zig Clean Color markers and added water with a waterbrush to blend and soften the colors. I fussy-cut the bear (I have the dies, but wanted to layer the accessories directly to the same layer). I adhered it to the patterned circle die-cut, layered with the Beaded Circle Frame die-cut, with some dimensional adhesive. I trimmed the sentiment into a flag and layered on black cardstock strip. I placed all elements onto the card base to complete the card. Thanks for visiting.

This is a very simple card with a beachy theme. I started with a watercolor background, which is sort of the star of the card, made with Ranger Distress Oxide inks and water. I stamped the shells and sentiment over the background in black Archival ink.

I’ve been meaning to make an otter card with this set for a while now. I brought it with us to the coast–how appropriate–and finally got it colored and put together! I colored the otter with Zig watercolor markers and the ribbon on the present with a metallic marker. It was fun to layer the different papers using the varying sizes of die-cut circles–almost like paper piecing. Thanks for stopping by today.

- Embossing folder – Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions “Leaves”
- Cardstock – Bazzill Bling

- Ranger Distress Inks
I created these Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) to swap with some online friends. Our theme was Nature’s Beauty. I started by stamping the flower images on watercolor paper and then coloring them with Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush. I used the matching dies to cut out the watercolored flowers. After I cut the cardstock into trading card size (2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″), I ran them through my Cuttlebug with the embossing folder to achieve the leaf background. I then adhered the die-cut flowers to the cards. I printed out the Emerson quote and applied Distress inks, cut out the quotes and adhered them to the cards. Thanks for visiting.

- Stamps – Hero Arts – CL947 “Color Layering Large Orchid”
- Ranger – Distress Crayons
- Ranger – Distress Inks
- Distress Watercolor cardstock
- Bazzill cardstock – Bouquet
- Neenah Solar White cardstock
I created this card for a 90-minute scramble #138 on the Hero Arts Flickr site. Our challenge was to use solid stamps and outline stamps together. I used Distress Crayons directly on the outline stamp and spritzed it with water. I did a similar watercolor technique for the solid stamps and stems, only using Distress Inks. I added some water splatters and the sentiment to finish off the image. I then adhered it with a strip of purple cardstock and popped the whole thing up with dimensional adhesive. Thanks for stopping by.

I created this card for a challenge with a group of friends to make a purple-themed card, as a tribute to a group member who recently passed away. I colored the image background with Ken Oliver Liquid Metals in a nice, metallic amethyst wash. I stamped over it with black ink. I used some lacy die-cuts for visual interest. Thanks for visiting.

I created another card a buggy image for the insect challenge our card group is hosting. It also seemed to be a good fit for Challenge #91: Fly at Addicted to CAS. I created the background to have a scribbly, watercolored effect by using my Zig markers and a waterbrush. I stamped only the partial image from a long Stampers Anonymous woodmount stamp I’ve had in my collection for years. A very simple card. Thanks for visiting.

- Cardstock – Paper Accents

I created this card in less than 90 minutes for a challenge at the Hero Arts Flickr Group. I’m mentioning this mainly because the time period is quite a big challenge for me, since I am pretty methodical when I’m designing a card. Periodically we (in this Flickr group) have a timed card making challenge called a Scramble (we have to make the card and post it to the group within that time frame) and this morning we had one with a theme of Summer Fun. Since gardening goes hand-in-hand with summer here in the Pacific Northwest, I selected this older wood-mount stamp from my Hero Arts stash. This card is also fitting for the Simon Says Stamp Blog Monday Challenge: Summer Garden. Thanks for stopping by.
